Why was that not a clear path?
I can understand why you would be against okc being above you (not sure how I feel about that) but Denver has definitely earned it
I think the only unironic answer to this is in Denver, maybe on a back to back as well

He isn't close to either of those guys on either side of the ball. He's elite at both, but not all-time great like those guys were/are
Anfernee Simons and jerami Grant are both better than russ
He owns a lot of teams, he's pretty good at basketball if you haven't heard
The Simmons hate is ridiculous on this sub. Give the guy a chance to come back, he was a genuine star before injuries

I'm pretty sure they planned on going down with this core. Obviously the missed draft picks hurt, but I don't think they were planning on a Celtics-esque rebuild
