For you what’s the best headphone/IEM and what genre you listen with them? in c/headphones@hi-fi.community

I've said it multiple times on here, but the setup in my flair (HE400SE + 4.4mm balanced cable + Moondrop Dawn Pro) is under $200 and better than any of my previous $$$$ setups.

How can these be so good at such a low price? in c/headphones@hi-fi.community

Same setup here man, they rock. I've shelled out $$$$ on headphones over the years and these are my fave.

Get you a Moondrop Dawn Pro and you'll be in double-heaven.

Do your headphones REALLY perform much better with more expensive DAC/AMP? in c/headphones@hi-fi.community

One of my first electronics projects was building a headphone amplifier out of some 9 volt batteries and some good-quality op-amps.

I compared the result against my $$$$ "audiophile" headphone amp and.... I couldn't tell a difference.

Since then I've been more interested in the best bang-for-the-buck headphones/amps/dacs and not the fanciest ones, and that's served me well.
