Casio Duro if you’re into bulkier dive watches, or a Timex Expedition (or weekender really) if you’re field watches / simple 3 handers.

I wear watches because of utility (and I guess a bit accessory as well). I wore Timex Weekenders before getting into Watches, and I’ll still wear a Casio Duro should anything ever happen to my nicer watches.

I wear expensive (to me) watches because then I also get to wear jewelry.

I have two.

The first is a Kenneth Cole skeletonized mecha-quartz thing. I bought it for my wedding, and it was a very expensive purchase for me at the time. I knew nothing about capital W watches at the time but liked that it had to be hand wound.

The second is a Casio Duro. I don’t prefer the dive watch aesthetic in a vacuum, but after my son was born I needed something could mark when a feeding or nap started and how long it had gone for, and so I had Amazon deliver one of these ASAP. Not only does it remind me of my son, but whenever I wear a watch without a timer bezel I feel naked.

I have a $1k (Oris Artlier (sp)), a $60 (Casio Duro), and $1750 (Oak and Oscar Humboldt 12hr). I could see myself buying a watch up to about $3k for the hobby/fun of it, but if it were something like a retirement watch, I could see going up to like $8k.

If we’re speaking “affordable”, my metric is like within 50-100 of an Apple Watch, whatever that is.
