LG V40 thin q, for the built in DAC and I like the double touch lock feature. Also the always on screen with quick menu is nice. Not sure how they managed to keep those features to themselves.

Also not sure what I'm going to do when this phone dies as they are out of the phone came it seems. Sony xperia seems to be the alternative as I believe they have a DAC as well.

Is there such a thing as comfortable planars?

I find the EL-8 pretty comfortable.

Thanks for Emma Ruth Rundle recommendations. Currently gong through the Dark horses album and quite liking it.

Sounds a bit like a slightly more aggressive florence and the machine, but unlike them these songs are properly mastered so they actually sound good on the HD800s.

Isn't it by definition the TOTL for the MDR series? I took TOTL to mean the highest offering for a series of headphones.

Not saying anything about their quality as I never heard them.

I have been running my HD800s off an xduoo xd-05 + vali 2 set up and that gets more than loud enough. I only ever have the amp at 10 o'clock or lower and my computer at 33-36 out 100 volume and it is plenty loud. So if you aren't sure try it out and see if you need to upgrade. I think your set up should be quite sufficient.

This is a sub for headphone enthusiasts not sneaker enthusiasts.

Neither. Burn in isn't real.

Except they really aren't. Headphone pricing has gotten out of hand and has created a division that doesn't actually exist. The headphones OP listed or all still "sunmit-fi" as most people consider headphones over the $1k point to fall into that.

Headphones past that in the $3k+ category are just "stupid summit-fi" (so coined on this sub). But I think calling the HE1000se or Focal Clear MG mid range heasphones is completely disingenuous.

Let's start with, have you actually listened to any of the headphones you are thinking of getting?

Why HE1000se vs v2 or v3? The v3 are tuned very closely to the SE but are significantly cheaper. The v2 would be my pick because of the larger soundstage and are very much just an upgraded arya. At least that's why I gather without ever hearing them.

HD800s : When I am free to sit at my computer and use my set-up to get the best quality music I can get.

EL-8O : When at work (work from home) or when I want to lay in bed and just run them from my phone. It has a built in DAC so can run them quite easily. Though they are really easy to drive.
