I'm not sure there were all that many times that Jokic cooked Wemby. Mostly it was Bassey and Collins that were matched up with him. Wemby also had like 3 steals off of Joker's passes and the Nuggets sometimes struggled to get the ball inside with Wemby there. The kid is going to be a superstar in a few years with a few complimentary pieces surrounding him (like anyone who can run the point).
Jokic literally had one of the best offensive games this season against him. I guess you could also make Jordan Poole look like Steph if you only show the makes.
lol I had no idea what happened in this game and this video made it looked like he was locked down, only to find out he had 39.
They accidentally forgot to include all the times Jokic schooled him, and accidentally cut off one of the highlights where Wemby stopped him, right before Jokic immediately got the ball back and scored on him.

I was shocked watching the game how well he held up against Joker in the limited amount of posessions he got. The Wemby at the 5 stretches looked a lot more coherent on offense too. I'm sure Joker would have killed him if they played that matchup all game (And did get him a few times not shown in the clips). But that was super promising for the future.
Yeah, one clip was even cut where Jokic catches the rebound and immediately scores ahaah

Even in the future where Wemby is a more polished product, I don't think he's going to get the primary assignment on Jokic very often. Relatively skinny shot blockers are much more effective against Jokic when they can play help and avoid getting bodied by Jokic. Wemby will probably primarily guard Gordon when he's in.

Joker is obviously going to cook lesser guys, but damn... 2 years from now, Wemby might be at a place where he's pushing Joker to a Game 6 or 7.
Not sure who else is capable of such. Kinda think it's no one. This dude is special.

You got to post direct matchup stats otherwise all people are going to see is Jokic scoring 39pts (Wemby doesn't even play the 5)
The vibe in posts like this is so weird. Wemby's length give him a shot to defend Jokic well if the Spurs can be a playoff team in like 2-3 years when Denver should still be a contender (even if Murray gets hurt long-term, you'd imagine they'll just trade the swaps and picks they have left to replace him and still be a contender).
With Jokic, all Wemby being good on defense will do is make him into a passer -- where he's basically the greatest center to do it.
Jokic is crazy.
Sure, but Jokić being a passer is a big deal because all of his teammates feast on open looks because you have to double or at least help on Jokić. Being able to stay home on those guys will make things a lot harder on the non-Jokić Nuggets.

Didn’t Jokic have an almost 40pt game?
One of these clips cuts out right before Jokic scores to make it look better …
He did also score against Wemby constesting like four times. Not to say Wemby didn't do a great job, he bothered him more than most defenders, but people who didn't watch the game will think Jokic had a terrible matchup against Wemby when it's just not the case.

Eh. I don’t think he was really all that effective. He poked away some bad passes and didn’t get eaten up down low but Jokic still had a Jokic game. Pretty quiet too. I didn’t realize what his numbers were until I looked at the box scores after the game
True but he only covered Jokic for like a quarter of the game and Jokic is really really good - players who are that good usually get theirs one way or the other unless they just have an awful game.
Watch out folks. Vic is putting it together rn. He did really well against Joker, as good as anyone can really.
Jokic scored on the second play after the block but the third play was hilarious. It looked like completely normal defense and Jokic complained so much afterwards lol

Funny enough , his makeup is the perfect archetype to defend him. And Joker having no real lift plays a huge toll on it being successful.
He stopped in 5 times… Jokic still got 38 on efficient shooting.

It just goes to show how Jokic does things on the court without second thinking. His muscle memory just failed against a freak like Wemby.

I said this to my friend at the game, Jokic would have no trouble backing down Wemby in the post because dude's a stick but Wemby's length would present an issue because he is literally Slenderman

Surprised Jokic wasn't more physical, he can easily out muscle Wemby. But outside of that Wemby simply having long arms slows down Jokic's shenanigans here and there.
