(Doug Kobayashi, mayor of Colwood, B.C.) idea was straightforward. After talking to doctors in 2022 about what was important to them, many said less paperwork, more financial stability and a better work/life balance.

Kobayashi's response: Make them municipal employees. This differs from the usual system where many family doctors in Canada are independent contractors and responsible for all aspects of the business plus seeing patients.

"As an employee, we want you to be a doctor 100 per cent of the time. No more administration, we'll look after this. We'll look after hiring your medical office assistants. We will give you a salary, a fixed salary. We will give you benefits, all the benefits," Kobayashi said.

From Operation Gladio - Paul L Williams:

But no Latin American country, not even Pinochet's Chile, could equal the levels of violence that followed the military coup of March 24, 1976, in Argentina. Indeed, the only regime to create a state of fear approximating that of Argentina was Hitler's Germany.37 (There were other parallels to Nazism, including a government-sponsored hate campaign against the country's four hundred thousand Jews.) As many as thirty thousand political prisoners (including students, union organizers, journalists, and even pregnant women) were killed or disappeared during the 1976–1983 “Dirty War,” which was fully endorsed by the Ford, Carter, and Reagan administrations.38 Political killings took place on the average of seven a day in 1977. Nor were Argentines the only victims. An estimated fourteen thousand refugees from other South American military regimes were told to leave the country or face the possibility of arrest. Torture was automatic for anyone arrested, according to a spokesman for the World Council of Churches.39

THE US ENDORSEMENT

Recently declassified National Security documents show that the CIA and the US State Department remained primary sponsors of the military junta, which was led by General Jorge Videla. On February 16, 1976, six weeks before the coup, Robert Hill, the US ambassador to Argentina, reported to Secretary of State Henry Kissinger that the plans for the coup were underway and that a public relations campaign had been mounted that would cast the new military regime in a positive light. Hill added that even though “some executions would probably be necessary,” the leaders of the junta remained determined “to minimize any resulting problems with the US”40On March 25, 1979, two days after the coup, William Rogers, assistant secretary for Latin America, advised Kissinger that the military takeover of Argentina would result in “a fair amount of repression, probably a good deal of blood.” To this warning, Kissinger responded, “Yes, but that is in our interest.”41

On March 30, 1976, Ambassador Hill sent a seven-page assessment of the new regime to Kissinger. In the report, Hill wrote, “This is probably the best executed and most civilized coup in Argentine history.” One week later, US Congress approved a request from the Ford Administration, written by Kissinger, to provide $50 million in aid to the new military regime.42

Lindsey Halligan appointed as US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia after president demands investigations of his political enemies

Donald Trump said he was appointing his former lawyer Lindsey Halligan to be US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia after an extraordinary outburst in which he overtly put pressure on his attorney general to more aggressively pursue senior public officials he regards as his political enemies.

“Pam Bondi is doing a GREAT job as attorney general of the United States. She is very careful, very smart, loves our country, but needs a tough prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia, like my recommendation, Lindsey Halligan, to get things moving,” Trump wrote on Truth Social post, announcing his decision.

In an earlier online outburst that read as much like a direct message to Bondi as a public post, Trump demanded she appoint Halligan – his special assistant and a onetime beauty queen – to replace Erik Siebert, a former police officer and experienced prosecutor and US attorney who resigned after finding no grounds for prosecuting the New York attorney general, Letitia James.

So, my PHEV limits DCFC charging to 19kW, and recommends using AC charging most of the time as mostly-DC charging will wear the battery faster.

A dealership down the road from my Mitsubishi dealer advertises a public 19kW Level 2 AC charger; would using that cause the same wear and tear as a 19kW DCFC? It seems like that is probably the case, but OTOH the actual AC charging circuitry is integral to my truck/battery so it might be able to mitigate that somehow?

Or is the info in gmaps definitely wrong and a 19kW L2 charger is just silly?

Edit: it's a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, with a 12.1kWh battery.

Three people familiar with the federal probe into Kirk’s assassination told NBC News that investigators have yet to find a link between the alleged shooter and left-wing groups.

The federal investigation into the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has yet to find a link between the alleged shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, and left-wing groups on which Donald Trump and his administration have pledged to crack down after the killing, three sources familiar with the probe told NBC News.

One person familiar with the federal investigation said that “thus far, there is no evidence connecting the suspect with any left-wing groups.”

Today is some more Final Fantasy 7. I felt like sitting back down with it today and played through Chapter 5. As i was backtracking i bumped into this old lady in a argument with a soldier. I was trying to get a photo of it, but accidentally got one instead where it looks like the Old Lady is about to fight Cloud and the solider is either trying to talk her out of it or into it.

I got to the opening of Chapter 5 today. I'm not really sure what's up with it but everything has like a blue tint which is really throwing me off. Idk if it's intentional or not, but it's very noticeable.

My initial struggles with the combat i feel like suddenly vanished. Maybe i just needed a moment for it to click, but when i went into Roche's fight it felt fluid and really natural. I think before i was being too aggressive with it. With this fight i did a lot more dodging and blocks which helped. I also tread to keep tabs on enemies weaknesses which really helped.

On a similar subject of the combat, there's it's wielder, Cloud. I really like how he's starting to warm up to everyone. I was worried he was always going to be kind of cold and distant, so seeing this growth is nice. Also love seeing him try to be a good friend to Tifa, we could always use more people like that in the world.

I want to see if i can play some more of it tomorrow, i'll have see though. I'm not sure what my day will be like.

Europe is drowning in cheap parcels. In 2024 alone, more than 12 billion low-value packages poured into the EU, 91 percent shipped directly from China.

The delivery itself often costs more than the products inside the parcel. Shoppers may celebrate €5 T-shirts and €10 blenders, but behind every parcel lies a silent cost: bankrupt retailers, violated consumer rights, exploitative labour conditions, and rising threats to public safety.

It is time for the European Union to act immediately and close the door to companies that profit from breaking the rules.

The evidence of Shein’s and Temu’s misconduct is overwhelming. At the top of the list stands the most fundamental concern: consumer safety.

Authorities have found beauty products and children’s toys containing high levels of toxins and carcinogenic substances.

Even more alarming are the failures in products meant to save lives. Smoke detectors that stay silent, helmets that shatter, and electronics that spark fires.

Just updated to iOS 26 and a few hours later got this notice about “enchanted 5g” for some apps. I had no idea what it was, so I checked the details and saw that it was automatic enabled and shares info about what apps you use with Verizon. If it wasn’t for this notification I would have no idea this was running.

No thanks. Disable that.

Edit: “enchanted” lol. Meant enhanced.
