Hello,

I read someone claiming that usbc Apple EarPods is better than the aux versiom due to its upgraded DAC.

However, I can’t seem to find any actual data on this and Apple didn’t even bother to advertise the product.

Just curious is the usbc EarPods actually better? If so, it is noticeably better? I heard it supports spatial audio but I don’t use apple music so I can careless about it.

hello everyone. I have a pair of headphones that are completly out of whack. they can't even get proper sound out of them or as I like to call, it has the Nokia Disease (if you don't know what I'm talking about, try to plug an old nokia pair of earphones into your smartphone).

I had the genius ideia that is literally in the title: Can I switch this faulty hard-wired cable to a female headjack where I can plug any 3.5mm AUX cable?

I'm up to soldering but it would be my first time. Can someone give me a helping hand and tell me (at least) some info or tutorials that I can guide myself to?

I have a small dilemma. I love the sound of my DT 1990 Pro's while gaming so much that I would hate to sacrifice their insane audio quality just to speak on a mic to others while gaming. I can't seem to find a mic mod or adapter that seems to be compatible with Xbox (series X). Would anyone know of any possible solutions, aside from purchasing an entirely separate headset?

Dear redittors,

I just received the Beyerdynamic DT880 Edition 600ohm. I actually didn't pay much attention while ordering to which version I exactly wanted. Now, I received the 600 ohm version, and it turns out this version has the most discount. I plugged this headphone into my motherboard jack, and okay, I had to set the Windows volume slider to 100. After that, I decided to plug this headphone into my Philips 346E2CUAE/00 ultrawide screen, not thinking it would work better than in my Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 motherboard. Surprisingly, it does work better; the volume slider is at 50 and is loud enough. Can anyone explain how that is possible? Overall, I'm satisfied that I received the 600ohm version, as I can upgrade to an amplifier later. Any ideas for an affordable headphone amplifier? Or is it not possible to drive a 600-ohm headphone affordably?

Full bodied, lush, and intoxicating mids, with mid-bass and smooth treble. I generally like the sparky twang in the treble (like with Aful P8), but am totally digging this soundscape as well. Everything just flows smoothly, lushly. A sense of Grandeur lingers.

The mids are quite something. I guess it must be a common feature with the more expensive IEMs (I have the P8s and the Senns HD660s2), but since I don't own those higher-end 1000$ stuff, I have been impressed, swept along by this ear-gasm feeling. Guess it's a combo of how the mid-bass effects the mids perhaps, I dunno, but quite like it. Maybe this is what is meant by 'musical' that I see in reviews of certain iems here and elsewhere.

A nice cable too, that the company seems to sell otherwise for 30-40$, going by their site. The foam tips accentuate the bass of course, but eventually I settled on Dunu S&S.

Fan2 doesn't rumble - so sub-bass lovers might have to watch out - - but it has a nice thick fast bass that's pleasing. It isn't sparky - treble-heads watch out- but it isn't dull, treble is present and shining without the twangy attack. Tone and timbre are excellent.

And so is the price :-) 50% off, which got it down to 140$, and I can't think of anything in that price bracket that can glitter like this. Now the discount officially is at 41% . https://penonaudio.com/penon-fan-2.html is the official site where I got it from. Free shipping.

I have spent 700$ on headphones and they have all broken from regular use. I need bluetooth anc noise canceling headphones that can handle the cold and rain (doesn't have to be waterproof just has to not break in some rain). Also don't buy xqisi or750i they literally lasted 3 days before breaking in half

Light sleeper living in a city apartment always getting stuck with neighbors who like to bump bass music. I'm also someone who prefers to fall asleep to TV, and have resorted to earbuds/headphones for this because a fan, white noise, and the TV was not erasing the "thump thump thump" neighbor noise.

I've tried at least 7 different earbuds (ANC as well as passive blockers) and found that Jabra Elite Pro 7s are the most effective at counteracting the bass thumping when I'm sleeping. I bought 2 sets in case of battery death overnight. They're not perfect, though, and sometimes rub a blister on my right ear, but I make do because they've been the best of the options I've found. I also have a cheap CozyPhones headband from Amazon that I can use on quieter nights if I turn my phone volume all the way up, and have a set of the Manta version on the way.

This leads me to custom IEMs as a possibility. Wavs is having a sale and their dual armature custom fit IEMs are intriguing me. I understand IEMs will generally be corded, but what does the "true wireless Bluetooth adapter" option look like? Would custom fit IEMs be equal or better at getting rid of outside bass noise than my Jabra ANC earbuds?

Trying them now with FiiO K5 pro and tried Oratory EQ settings, really considering returning. It sounds nice yes but the bass is lacking, feel like bass is extremely important in many genres of music and its dull. Yes it's an open back headphones but I am just curious how to properly enjoy the headphones? Everyone been saying they are endgame headphones

Maxed out volume on FiiO and gain to max too

Any DT 1990 pro owners? What makes you love the headphones? And is the bass dull?

Thanks

By no means an audiophile, but at the same time appreciate quality sound. I could contradict myself with this as my dailys are Jabra Elite 75T, and I think they sound good. I'm not after 'pure' quality 'monitors', I'm after some fun sounding with nice thick bass. I love the design of these Eva x Final earphones and was wondering if they actually sound fun? Not many reviews online.

When I went to canjam a few months back, this iem was the highlight of the show to me, over things such as the subtonic storm and elysian annihilator. Anyways, normal disclaimers this is first impressions, not a review. Thoughts change. As a side note, my thoughts on the susvara has changed quite a bit since my first impressions...

The most remarkable trait of this iem is how bass boosted it is, yet it doesn't have overwhelming punch and slam, nor does the bass bleed into the mids. Instead, the bass boost mostly highlights the low end and adds a richness to the sound. I mentioned this in my first impressions post, but I seriously didn't realize how bass boosted this iem was until I saw the graph online (though I'm not a critical listener).

The rest of the sound is well tuned, with decent technicalities. Imagine something like a galaxy buds/air pods, with maybe 20% better technicalities. Going to something like the focal utopia immediately reveals how much technical performance is left on the table. The timbre is much better than something like the utopia though. I haven't found a song that sounds wrong with the singularity yet.

Overall, the "normalcy" of this iem is both its greatest strength and its greatest weakness. For some who prefer crazy technicalities, or expect massive punchy bass after looking at the frequency response, they might be disappointed. For those who might be looking for a natural dd sound with a nice low end emphasis, this might be an option.

Personally? Holy shit after my disappointment with the letshouer cadenza 12 and hifiman susvara (more on susvara coming soon), I'm glad to just be able to enjoy music again. The singularity is just so enjoyable to listen to and forget about analyzing the music. I don't think its worth the price on technicalities alone, but that simply isn't my priority anymore. This might be the first "audiophile" equipment I own that doesn't compromise on any sonic trait since I got the hd600, while still offering something above standard consumer audio. At the very least, I can say my faith of iems has been partially restored. Questions welcome.

Finally had a chance to test this, and it's actually not too bad. Good amount of power and low noise. Not bad value but if course it's not comparable to the original build and design quality.

On July 30th, 2023 the first day of my vacation in 4 years. I slipped on the stairs while going down to my mancave and gave myself two traumatic brain injuries. One on the left and right side of my brain. They performed emergency brain surgery and removed a section of my skull on the right side about 7 inches long and 4 inches wide. They also drilled a hole in the left side of my skull to stop the brain bleed on that side.

After 3 weeks in the hospital I was released to go home with a very large dent in the right side of my head. I had to wear a helmet for months to protect my brain just below the skin.

On November 6th, 2023 I went in for surgery to have the section of skull replaced. A step closer to normal but not quite because I had 157 sutures in my head now.

On November 27th, 2023 I had all the sutures removed and finally had a full skull with no stitches.

Today I was able to listen to my headphones for the first time in 4 months. The experience was spiritual. I literally cried from joy and pleasure. The beauty of the music and the realization that the healing process is moving along was euphoric.

I don't recommend smashing your head in to anyone but I think taking a break from your headphones to truly understand how amazing they are is an experience I think is worth waiting for. It is so easy to become bored or complacent with your gear and a short break can really open your eyes to enjoying what you have in a new way.

I bought myself my first pair of headphones, and trying to figure out how to use with my iPhone 15.

Bought the USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack, but that obviously didn’t work.

I contacted Sennheiser customer support and their response was “You would need a dongle that plugs into your iphone with a place to plug in your headphones. Apple or Best Buy would be suggestions of where you can look for this product.”

Sorry if this is a dumb question, as I’ve always used the earbuds that came with the iPhone and wanted to upgrade.

I've been playing with my new pair of Focal Bathys, listening to different tracks, comparing wireless and wired in DAC mode while streaming Hi-Res from Qobuz. What I discovered is that I like a bit more punch that they have in wireless mode with a Dynamic preset (Harman curve) AND I enjoy the DAC mode for better overall quality. However I can't use that EQ while in DAC mode (Focal app doesn't see the headphones). The USB Audio Player Pro app that I use to bypass Android's 48Hz limitation has a proper 10 band EQ, but I have zero experience with EQing and don't really understand what to do.

Has anyone tried to EQ them to be close to Harman curve? What I'm looking for are basically values that I can input into the EQ inside the app. I know that you can't use generic numbers, cause it's headphone specific.

Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated

Outside of going to an audiophile store (which there are none nearby me), it seems many on this sub are often purchasing headphones with the intent to just try them. They'll give em a good critical listen, and if they dont like em, ship em back. Amazon seems to be popular for this.

But I dont get how this works. I dont trust Amazon's "free returns" policy as they've screwed me numerous times in the past (non headphone related). Furthermore, free returns are often not free at all, and I see tons of fine print about restocking fees, return fees, etc etc. So how are you guys managing to test so many headphones before buying them?

I know headphones.com has a 365d return policy, but at least they're transparent and tell you upfront that there are restocking fees (as opposed to Amazon which is the exact opposite). So at least you can budget and act accordingly. But again, I ask - how are you guys doing this? Is Amazon really being that good to you guys and I just have the worst luck in the world? Help!

I told myself I would only get one iem per month, and I ended up getting three this month. The IE 600 and Ej07 aren’t even a week old, so there’s still tons of listening to do. The only other iem that I have my eye on is the Monarch mk3, but that’s still on back order on headphones.com. Other than that, I’m pretty happy with this collection :)

New owner of the HD6xx's here - I've seen a lot of comments around this sub saying "stop here" before you condemn yourself to an endless rabbit hole of cans.

Should I take this advice and stop at these? Are there any audiophile headphones that are truly worth an upgrade?
