I’d like to inquire about the Marshall MAJOR 3 headphones. I’ve noticed that AliExpress offers them at very competitive prices (€45). In various reviews, people have praised the sound quality and authenticity of these headphones. If anyone has previously purchased them from AliExpress, I’d appreciate hearing about their experience with the sound quality.

The description said there was improvements to transparency mode and the “soft” noise cancellation mode. Anyone try the new firmware yet?

After a short listening session I do think transparency is even better, certain sounds are louder and the hiss seems to have been reduced further.

So after a careful thought process and like a bajillion reddit posts both here and on r/headphoneadvice I just pulled the trigger on a pair of SuperLux 668B for 33€ which sounded like a steal (the site is legit + I paid with PayPal).

Was hovering between these, the 681EVOs or the SR850s, decided for these as people say they're more comfortable than both, plus a lot say the bass is better (which I value a lot for my music tastes) and a couple people just said they were the better option specifically between those 3.

I wanna know what to expect tho to not be deluded when they get here and I try them, for reference I only ever used 2 pairs of trash gaming headsets before (one hyperx and one Logitech), plus a pair of old sennheiser HD480 my dad got when he was playing keyboard.

Will I get blown away considering I've never tried a nice pair od "studio" or "audiophile" headphones and people say the Superluxes punch way above their weight? Super excited for it all tbh

Ok, maybe I did something bad in the eyes of the purist, but OMG...Adding this Monarch MK2 cable on my Oracle M2 along with Spring tips from Moondrop just completes an already heavenly experience. I love how it adds just a touch more richness from the cable and an even better fit with the Spring tips. I know people have their subjective views and all but this cable is my favorite looking and feeling cable I've seen for IEM and now on my Oracles MK2( which still holds my top spot for my ears as the perfect IEM) just makes it even better, if that was even possible:). It truly does look like a baby Monarch MK2 now:)

Just got a Topping G5 headphone amp/DAC that has Bluetooth 5.1.

I guess I misunderstood the description. I believed the amp would connect wirelessly through BT to BT headphones. Is that not true or are the instructions just not detailed enough?

Someone just made a post showing that they're now $150 on amazon. For that price are they actually that bad? The name only goes against them because I know they sound nothing like sundaras. But with eq, are they really worse value than other $150 closed backs? K371?

My English is not good, sorry about that.
Prepare to laugh. Today i got my XS and i thought i was gonna be surprised by the sound quality. But i can't hear ANY difference between them. Same weak soundstage, same harsh treble, bass is almost non-existent.
I think the problem is because I don't have a dac/amp, so they are plugged directly into my pc (alc1220-vb). I use them on 100% volume but most of the time it's not loud enough. 990s were good at 70%. Do i really need an amp like Fiio K7 with balanced cable to make them sound at least better than the 990s...? Or all this will just make them louder? Please help :(

I’m using them on my x570 motherboard and wonder if I would get a noticeable increase in sound quality by getting an amp/dac.

i'm trying an Ananda, Focal Elegia, HD800s, and LCD-XC

the xduoo ta-03s tube amp only has the 1/4" plug and my xduoo xp-2 pro has the 3.5mm but it has been sometimes flaking out or running out of battery

so i considered Schiit Magni or Magni Heretic

and i'm wondering for now until i get an adaptor to plug the 1/4" from the Sennheiser and Audeze into the portable amp

how i can test them properly, and consider an integrated amp

because this OTL tube is giving low volume and the bass is wonky maybe until it heats up

and more so because these are low impedance except for the..Sennheiser?

how much does an LCD-XC with Creator's package case go for? and the stock pads are good enough, no need for ZMF or Dekoni?

haven't managed to find ZMF headphones to try yet. there's a few A-letter names that tend to go under $1k USD (the name of the headphones start with A for a few of them).

The main thing today is there's no way to properly test these LCD-XC until I find an adaptor for the portable amp or use a desktop amp. Or mini-xlr headphone cable with 3.5mm plug.

I'm looking for an DAC and/or AMP which can physically toggle between output1, and output2.
Currently, I have a SoundBlaster G6, which 1 output goes to my HD 560S, and another goes to a Pebble v3. Both 3.5mm.
The G6 does allow me to toggle, but on software level, so I have to load the program in Windows to toggle between the 2.
Is there a device which can physically toggle between 2 outputs?

Because of soon expiring great deals on the Clear OGs and Radiance, and Arya Organic is my other choice (all of which are not available in my city), I went to the local store to listen to the HE1000v2 as a proxy since many have said are fairly close to the Arya Organic (basically; HIFIMAN downloaded 95% of the technology and sell it at a lower price point with a different name).

I love my HD600, and the purpose of this is to both find and all-rounder that has bass for my fun music -- pop/hip-hop rap; ballads. I would say that both bass and vocal is equally important. (Although I am probably somewhat of a bass head compared to most)

I was quite impressed by the HE 1000 v2

the mid range is just clean. While I probably have less use for soundstage for the genres I mentioned, but the image separation was sublime. The bass extension where there -- there is bass quality but I think bass quantity/impact could be better.

I started this journey few weeks ago with an audition of the MG. So I asked for the MG again. This immediate A/B showed that the MG is definitely punchier, meatier sound and sound is more fun/dynamic. BUT -- coming of the HE 1000v2, everything mid-range sounded a tad muddier -- it's just less clean -- I don't think I can go back to the MGs anymore having heard the HE1000v2. If the MG and HE 1000v2 had a love child, maybe that is product I am looking for.

****************

Anyways, I know that Clear OG (available $750) is suppose to be quite a bit cleaner than MG, but I am afraid I am be found wanting for more substantial bass.

Despite the overwhelming number of recommendation of Clear OGs, quite a few community members here, particularly those that took time and and said they have both, highly recommend the radiance (also $750) over the Clear OG for my genres. However, some have said that Radiance are muddy and too warm. If Radiance is even muddier than the MGs, then I don't think I can go for them even if they are "fun".

There is no availability of the Arya Organic locally, which is supposed to be a slightly meatier but slightly less resolute version of of HE 1000v2. So I can't test them. But I kind of don't want to wait.

The HEv1000v2 and Arya Organic are 1300 and 1200, respectively on the website I am looking at. So decent deal but not super deal like the Clear OG/Radiance.

I was so close to hitting buy on either the OG or Radiance. Now I am just confused what to do.

May be a dumb question but how do you actually listen to music? Do you listen while doing something else? Do you set aside time to just sit and listen? Really dive deep into your routine if you have one.

I’ve recently got my first hi-fi setup- Audeze LCD-X + Munich M1 but all I do is listen while I work, so looking for inspiration.

Recently I was replacing my HD650 (Massdrop edition aka HD6XX) with closed-back headphones. Briefly I'm used to work with neutral headphones and I really like sound of HD650 but I need headphones that are closed-back and wanted to try something more 'fun' since I'm not professional. For listening setup I used Behringer UMC202HD + Schiit Asgard 2. It's going be mostly subjective feelings and not technical details.

I narrowed down my options on two models: DT 700 Pro X (having had a positive experience with Bayerdynamic before) and Meze 99 Classics (recommended on some forums as 'fun' but still good sounding).

Comfort, desing

Meze 99c are exceptionally comfortable, allowing me to wear them for hours. However, the sensitivity of the metal band to touch is a minor concern, as it produces a noticeable sound with every touch. Subjectively I think they look and feel amazing. Accessories are convenient and add value to the package (I mean hard case and cable with microphone is big plus for me).

DT 700 Pro X are definitely less comfortable - noticeable heavier and more squeezy. I also experienced discomfort in my left ear due to an earring I'm wearing but that was not an issue with the HD650 or 99c.

Sound

Well, Meze 99c left me disappointed although they're good sounding headphones. I knew that they're not studio headphones but for that price I expected more. Bass lacked precision and felt muddy. It was sometimes hard for me to catch details in it. Mids and trebles were more detailed but somewhat off balance - High mids and low trebles felt too loud.

I found DT 700 Pro X sounding great and somewhat flat. Compared to HD650 they had more prominent bass and trebles but felt less 'smooth' and compared to 99c the bass was less prominent but felt clearer and more precise.

Both 99c and DT 700 Pro X have good sound stage and imaging but in my opinion HD650 is clearly superior here. Also both headphones doesn't leak and have decent isolation.

Summary

Despite the excellent sound of Meze 99c I decided to return them due to described imperfections and stick to DT 700 Pro X. The only thing that I'm not fully satisfied with is comfort of wearing.

I've been thinking a lot about headphone pads and I've came across a variety of materials from genuine leather to velour to clarino and Alcántara, but never wool?

I wonder why? And I'm not talking wool as in an itchy sweaty but wool as in those wool suits and those luxuriously comfortable wool seats in certain cars. It breathes very well, doesn't get too hot or cold, whickers moisture and I presume has sound absorption properties rather than reflection like leather or pleather, which could help in reducing any unwanted sounds and vibrations.

So why not wool?

HI ,

I don't see any comparison between these 2 drivers, is neodymium drivers outdated? this driver is being used in sony XB extra bass series(Bass legend in my view ) and many new earphones like blon with tiny magnets people saying bass is good, is it really better than sony ones?

I need advice on choosing closed-back headphones. For some time I was using ath-m50x. Overall they are ok, but there are some things about them I don't like:

  1. On some songs there are sound in a certain frequency that are significantly louder than the overall scene. I think, the spike is in upper midrange, around 4kHz. I don't know if the problem is with my unit or all m50x have that problem, so my equalizer is always set to -4db on 4kHz, which affects all the upper midrange, making the sound odd.
  2. The sound is "Close to the ears". There is too little space for the sound. On some complex songs, if there are many sounds of different frequencies played at the same time, they all mix together in a messy wall of sound.

I was at a hifi store and tried some headphones, and I really liked fostex t60rp, but they are semi-open, so other people can hear everything you are listening to. If you can recommend a good pair of closed-back headphones under 500$, please leave a comment.

I'm taking a break from my usual work to focus on this interest of passion.
I want to design some high end accessories around Headphones/Audio-gear. Stands, Storage, Upgraded/custom parts, etc.

If it were me, I'd say something that looks like a exotic car part, in carbon fiber would make for a sick looking headphone/amp stand... but, I have eccentric tastes. I know things like RGB and Epoxy-Wood are trendy these days. or Maybe a more subtle/refined style is key.
I can't get started until I decide what materials I will be working with, so I'd love to hear what vibes my peers have in these ways!

TLDR:

If you have or could imagine having a life style, where you own some very elite audio gear, what would the supporting setup be made of and the the vibe you'd want for it?

Out of the box, they sound absolutely terrible. The bass boost is way over done, the Harman target is far too shouty in the 2.5 to 4 KHz range, and worst of all, the ENTIRE treble region is an absolute MESS! I have no idea what anyone who praises these things is smoking. I guess that just shows how bad the market is.

After messing around with it several times over the course of a few days, these are my current settings in Poweramp Equalizer. It's still far from ideal, as I've been unable to achieve a flattish response (the 6 to 9 KHz region is especially difficult!). This isn't even remotely close to anything perfect. However, it's MUCH better than it was! Definitely a good starting point with these Buds2 Pros. Turning the EQ on and off is a night and day difference. On is listenable, and off is trash. Oh, and I've already tried other EQ solutions and settings to no avail. This is the only decent solution I've found so far. And rather than making two or more separate presets for ANC, passive, ambient, etc., I'm simply trying to make one profile work well enough with all of them for the time being.

I realize that people's ear canals are different and others may not hear what I hear. So, please use frequency sweeps and pink noise to make adjustments. Try these settings, tell me what you think, and if you can improve upon this, please do so and share. If anyone can point me to something similar to what I have here that's already been perfected somehow, please share that with me. Thank you!

Because it only supports aac and there’s no headphone port, you have to use Bluetooth for music, the sound quality is greatly compromised, it doesn’t matter what headphone you’re using.
