Media and search engines nowadays need a flag system and a filter for AI junk results

It's impressive how duckduckgo manages to be so much better than bing despite being a frontend for bing

Click a link and need to go back 10x to get back. Yes, I enjoy the footballs.

Also, "identical" has a different meaning here.

There's a special place in hell for the monster who dreamed up this captcha!

update - after doing some research online, I found I was able to just reply to the text message with "yes" and it confirmed the reservation.

Fortunately the gentleman at the front desk allowed me to switch rooms. For $200 a night, I'd like to not hit my head on the wall when standing up.

It appears every few times I open the app and the usual android back button doesn't make it go away, and there is no cancel button. What you have to do is toggle the toggle, then the button will change to "do not back up" and then you can press it. It annoys me how easy this makes it to accidentally turn on backup.

Just take the string as bytes and hash it ffs

That's a rhetorical question, in case there's any doubt. I know the exact what and why of their bullshit.

Edit:

The poll stopped me in my tracks but it's actually even worse.

It should not take this long to get to imdb

Edit2: didn't even realize it thinks I'll "love it" based on things I look up. I don't think I'd like it.

Edit³: IMDb was the example I used without thinking. I'm aware that there's a link to it in the top card. It's the other web results that I don't already know about that I'd like to see. I now know there's a hidden "web" tab. There's also https://www.google.com/search?udm=14&q=example` but it's still mildly infuriating that you have to know about these things to get the basic results we expected for years.

When I want something cheap, I usually hit Aliexpress (website). As I was looking at the Aliexpress app page on the Google Play Store to check its privacy details, TEMU came up as a recommended app.

Now, my wife has used TEMU in the past, but since she often can't find her way around things, I downplayed her negative experience as "user error". That said, I went to the TEMU website and started looking around.

I found something that was a reasonable price, but then get this message saying I could get this item free through the app... sigh. OK. I sign up with my usual fake/random credentials and add this "free" item to my cart.

A spinning prize wheel comes up. Hey, I can get THREE free items now! Sweet. I spend the next 3 hours looking for stuff I can actually use, doom-scrolling through everything from women's underwear to t-shirts with assault rifle print. Literally something for everyone. LOL

Then I select my third "free" item, and another spinning prize wheel comes up. "100% off the next $35". Ok.

I didn't need more stuff, but hey, 100% off sounds like more free stuff!

I spend another hour looking, keeping an eye on the amount "saved" (apparently $600+, for stuff that is sold on Aliexpress for maybe $25).

When I finally get to check out, I get another spinning prize wheel. "100% off $100"!! Goddamn, I'm on a roll here. How do these guys make any money?!!

More time looking... I must have spent well over 4 hours on their app. Time to check out.

$67? Huh? What about 100% off and all that nonsense? Enter your phone number*

  • You must agree to get promotional texts, or you can't check out... hmm, maybe my wife wasn't wrong.

In any case, there was no way to actually get anything "free". I deleted the app, deleted my account, and will never touch this scam ever again.

Do people actually end up getting anything from Temu? I thought AliExpress was bad, but the experience is 1000x better.

This is bullshit. Apply spend 30 minutes doing assignments and when you get text saying congratulations they want to interview you think you get an interview.

This probably one of those fake job postings I heard about. Pisses me off. Haven't had to look for work in over 5 years and now I am stuck applying for shit jobs. There no normall way to find work these days.

Even was told now companies use "AI" to filter out resumes before a human even sees it.

Edit: Reached HR and they explained that it's not a mistake. They really do it this way. Apparently when Autumn Lyons wants to interview me it is fake because it's sent to thousands of people and they have only so many slots.

It suggested that I check the link several times a day until a slot comes available.

Well I am not playing that fucking game. You want to interview me then do so. Fucking assholes.

Some time ago, I noticed that youtube comments are copied without emojis, thought nothing of that - bugs happen - but today I finally decided to find out why and what the hell is even this.

Yes I am aware that they're somehow supposed to reduce plastic waste because the cap can't get lost ... unless you cut it off, of course.

Yes I am also aware that there are people with disabilities (shaky hands, weak grip, etc.) who are thankful for these and actually like the design. Good for them, and I mean that in a non-sarcastic way.

But personally, I hate these things with all the "first world problems" rage I can muster and go out of my way to rip / cut / twist them off on every single bottle I buy. I don't like having the bottle cap directly in my face while drinking, or slipping in the way of the flow whenever I just want to pour milk, and on more than one occasion, I've actually cut my finger OR lip on these little sh*ts (not the same type as in the picture, but baldy-made longer "bands" that leave little plastic spikes on the cap and/or band).

No idea whether I should post this in the "unpopular opinion" section instead or if other people think the same, but to me, "mildly infuriating" describes them perfectly.

... and I can't even continue the chat from my phone.

I would have expected them to ask me to message them, in order to resolve the issue of not having access to my old email. Instead, they assume that I still have access to it, by simply contacting my email provider!

If I could do that, I wouldn't have lost access to it through would I?

A) That's not a Hyundai. It's AI bullshit.

B) That's not even the FORM FACTOR for a Palisade.
