Hang on. They had to ship three major updates in a single morning? How the hell is their workflow so bad that they have to- Oh yeah. Vibecoding.

If you see anyone wearing this shit, remember that you can laugh at how stupid they look as much as you want, and their weak copium that it's a "skill issue" will be swallowed by their copium mask. So you're free to laugh until they cry.

  • Pound sign: £
  • Hash: #
  • Octothorpe: Thorpe, Thorpe, Thorpe, Thorpe, Thorpe, Thorpe, Thorpe, Thorpe

£ is pound sterling sign, not pound sign. # is pound sign.

[–] Cyber@feddit.uk 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Not over here it isn't.

(I'm assuming you're from over there of course)

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm from neither there nor there, but given that there are two signs that can be called pound sign, it's IMO less confusing if you use "pound sterling" sign for the pound sterling, and "pound" sign for the other pound sign

Also the word pound has lost all meaning to me now, it look weird to read or write the word pound

[–] psud@aussie.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago

There's one word for pound sign. The other thing is called hash

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 6 points 2 weeks ago

sorry, I didnt get that

super aside, the text to speech in R.e.p.o doesn't pronounce parentheses but it does for square and curly brackets, which you can type really fast and then annoy your friends with minute long voice lines.

"open square bracket"

1 🖊️ ⬜ 🎾

On the one hand, each and every one of those has at least one pronounceable name, but on the other, I think these masks are for natural language, conversational AI prompt generation, so there'd be little to no need for any of them.

You've got to remember that this is being marketed towards bosses and C-levels who haven't written a line of code in their lives, or have completely forgotten how, much preferring to tell people what they want and then expecting it to magically appear in front of them as soon as possible.

I was wondering about this

[–] Kanda@reddthat.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

They just ask the llm to make regex

And all without a single junior dev in the open office hearing their genius. Aside from the junior dev who bought the fucking thing in the vain hope they could roleplay as a more competent employee. That junior dev can hear themself going "no, fuck, delete, how do I- no, stop typing, you stupid fucking thing", which I assume counts as "genius".
