It was so cute! At first I was mad that they had just reduced her to being a sexpest again after all her other character building episodes but it made up for it
I think her story is an important lesson in understanding different social norms between cultures. Betazed was characterized as a sex-positive matriarchal society. The characters could have learned how to deal with that in a healthy way but it got used for sex jokes. I'm glad a positive message still came through her character anyway, and I'd wager it was Majel herself who insisted on it if no one else.
I always got the feeling that the sex-pest aspect was an intentional diplomatic tool she used. Her overt sexuality made others uncomfortable and would give her an edge in negotiations with others because they are distracted by their discomfort. In some episodes she drops that facade and you see the woman underneath. Early on, she was a somewhat flat and undeveloped character, but she grew to be well rounded and fascinating.
Overall it did get to that point. My favorite was when they explored senior rights and respect for abrasive cultural customs in that episode where she falls for a scientist who can save his planet from destruction.
Is Majel a previous Star Trek actor like that one ship doctor fron TNG ? You can feel her influence on it, she had to have had some pull in the writing room with the performance she was bringing to the table. She's way too good to let that character be relegated to only a punchline

That's so cool how they do that. I didn't see very much of TOS but finding out there's like a "Star Trek Royalty" cast was awesome
I'm getting the impression that you don't know she was married to Gene Roddenberry.
Or that she was the voice of the ship's computer from TOS all the way through to the 2009 movie (i.e. her role only ended because she died).

Yeah itll be a nice contrast. Episodic, more lighthearted, and most of it holds up well.
