I like how he said “I don’t need to shoot threes because muh personal achievements”. I’m sorry but Demar just seems like a super self-centered asshole sometimes.
When else has he ever been a "super self-centered asshole" lol he's been loved by every organization he's been to because of how great of a person he is
The same stupid ass comment he made about dudes in the league not playing for love of the game or whatever. He needs to be reminded that some dudes gotta grind in the league to continue having a job and can’t just be preoccupied with love of the game.
I’ve never seen an organization, coach, teammate, or ex-teammate say a negative thing about him.
Okay but same with Westbrook and we can all agree at this point that he’s been a net negative since his Houston days (maybe minus his Wizards stop since they were a trash team without real hope/expectations)
I've definitely seen Bron openly frustrated with Russ lmao. I've also definitely heard Wizards teammates complain.
You ask any old teammates about Demar and everyone loves him lmao. PG hasn't even played with him and sings songs of praise whenever he gets brought up.
From a player's perspective, you've got a guy who's been in the league forever, is all about respecting yourself (and others around you), has a stupidly high work ethic, and is very outspoken about mental health issues associated with being in the spotlight like these guys are. Shit, dude had young players on Chicago LIVING WITH HIM in the off-season so they could work out and practice with him even.
Then from an organization standpoint, the dude is a model professional. Didn't fuck around requesting a trade after being moved to the Spurs, openly talks about how San Antonio was bad for his mental, but but then immediately goes on to say how much he appreciated the support he had from the organization and Pop. He even bought into Pop's system in San Antonio because he was aware the goal wasn't winning games, it was helping the young guys get their feet under them. Dude is a scorer and put up 7 assists per game on a tanking team full of young players.
No media shitshows, buys into what coaches say, does his best to support young players, doesn't request trades, etc... I don't know how anyone can look at him and see "self centered" lmao
He’s just stuck in his ways of playing 2000’s basketball with no 3pters that every team that had serious contention hopes had to move on from him.
He reminds me of an upgraded, starter version of Lou Will. He’ll get you buckets but they might not be efficient. And that just doesn’t really cut it anymore for a teams’ star player
He's admitted that he's bipolar, which is unsurprising given his numerous flare ups on the court leading to ejections over the years. But no reports have ever mentioned him being a problem in the locker room.
So a guy is a super self centered asshole because he doesn’t want to selfishly take shots he’s not good at?
Lmao Reddit psych analysis at it’s finest right here
news flash: he can still work on his game especially on taking more threes which would help the team
Gtfo
This is an L take, Demar DeRozan is an exception to the threes over deep two rule. I think there was a thinking basketball video on how for some peculiar reason his efficiency drops significantly from deep two to three range. He’s consistently been one of the most efficient mid-range scorers for a decade.
Yes the three is usually a much better option than the deep two but it also depends on who’s taking it.
As for the self-cantered, he’s literally been loved by every fan base he’s been to so idk man.
During Ayo Dosunmu's rookie season Demar went down with him to Champaign (which is the most boring 3 hour drive from Chicago) to see his jersey retirement ceremony at the University of Illinois even though they'd only known each other for a couple months at that point. Last year he did similar things with then-rookie Dalen Terry, you'd see videos of them hanging out like Demar was making sure Terry felt welcome in the locker room.
He seems like the best type of vet teammate you could ask for, it's the opposite of the Kobe type attitude like "you can't sit with us at this table until you get better at basketball."
I love DeMar man. What a real one.
You from Champaign? Glad someone else knows how miserable that trip is lol. Lived there for three years for grad school. Never again.
Nah but I'm from the sw Chicago suburbs and I've driven down to Champaign sometimes. Nothing but cornfields on that drive lol
Dalen literally calls him dad
That’s true only when he’s hitting 2s at over 55%, this year he has been off, and it’s clear why contested/deep/fadeaway 2s are lower efficiency shots. It just mucks everything up in the offense, decreases passing, decreases off ball movement.
Thinking Basketball is a channel for hacks. My man day Dangelo Russell was a mini Draymond Green on defense.
He post weekly surface level bs and guys like you eat it up.
Show me a channel that does a better job of explaining the game than thinking basketball. I'd be happy to be shown the light.
That video wasn’t trying to paint him as an actual Draymond level, just showing that his role on that teams defense was similar to Draymonds. Which it was.
Just fyi, that last line you said is exactly how I feel about Jimmyhighroller.
bro if you dont watch Demar dont speak on hm
The reason he doesn’t shoot 3s is he’s bad at them.
