Oh shit, did they get my internet search history ? how do they know so much about me.
Make no mistake your silence WILL be met with violence.
And if they are asking you you can bet your ass you are under suspicion of dissent.
There is no safety under a totalitarian government. And guess what? Party members are at risk too! It's a brilliant system.
Not toeing the line? Purged. Toeing the line too much to make a superior look worse? Purged. Wrong joke to the wrong person? Purged. Using a slightly outdated line of propaganda? Definitely purged. Keeping your trap shut and shaking your head? Believe it or not, purged, because you didn't help them.
It's super fucked, and I'm anything but sorry for people who payed so little attention to every goddamn history class ever to not know this.
Nazi Germany saw 21,900,000 people killed by policy, and that number doesn't include civilian collateral damage from the war.
MAGA is a death cult. Plain and simple.
Then take one for the team.
The violence that would be given to a lawful, rights bearing, legitimate citizen with full rights and privileges will pale in comparison to the violence that will be done to someone who doesn't have all those privileges.
If something is done to a lawful citizen, then they can have some kind of recourse to do something about it. Someone who doesn't have the same rights will have little or no choice to do anything about the violence done to them.
Once you give in to any kind of violence .... the violence only becomes worse for everyone.
It's like part of me wants to follow MLK's way of doing things but then 5 minutes later it's "welp. Guess we're doing it Malcom X's way instead." Then I have to sit there and remind myself that violence only begets violence and sooner or later history will look back and say "nobody remembers why the fighting started, just that it did and that it's been going ever since."
A Brief Disagreement
It's been a long road gettin' from there to here.
I'm currently watching DS9 and Enterprise is next on my list .... Star Trek definitely gives one a perspective of humanity that is much needed.
TFW you realize you're in the Mirror Universe.
TFW you realize that even if we're in the Prime Universe, we're living through the Bell Riots and WWII is right around the corner.
TFW when you realize that we aren't living in any of those universes but we're going to have a totalitarian world order, the Bell Riots, WWIII, no interstellar engine technology and no Vulcans coming to save us.
I wasn't suggesting you capitulate.
You think you have rights until there's a gun in your face, that's the whole point, you get it worse if you don't capitulate because standing up to them is the biggest most unforgivable crime there is.
Very easy to go on an internet message board and beat your chest and say you won't break.
Very difficult to take an actual beating.
"I won't break under torture" is a sentiment held briefly by untold numbers of torture victims.
I'm Indigenous Canadian and I've had my share of dealing with law enforcement for minor stuff. I never did anything wrong, I just had to stand my ground and even when I did, I still faced difficulty and it took allies around me to make it easier. The point is, it's easier to fight and challenge now when the violence and provocation is minimal.
You are right, I would probably be a wuss as much as anyone else under torture ... which is why I would rather fight and challenge now, rather than wait until things get much worse and I have to break under more extreme conditions.
