Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Tense confrontations between police and demonstrators in L.A. continued for a second day on Saturday, in response to operations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents

Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, said he plans to send the National Guard to Los Angeles to combat protests against ICE that began this weekend following immigration raids in the city.

“We are making Los Angeles safer. Mayor Bass should be thanking us. She says they are going to mobilize—guess what? We are already mobilizing. We are going to bring the National Guard in tonight,” Homan told Fox News.

His comments come after Senior White House adviser Stephen Miller railed against the protests, calling them an “insurrection” against the United States.

My feeling is that if the people of CA don’t fight back with equal, brutal force, America is officially done and this will happen everywhere.

I’m not sure what else one can do.

Fighting back is the only thing that works. Look at 2020. Fighting back effectively kept the number of Trump W's in that time in the single digits.

The absolute cowardice and cuckoldry the Democrats have shown isn't a path to stopping fascism. Time to dust off your gear from 2019 folks.

Visionary battle plan of “sit back and do nothing, then they’ll find out!” (How controlled we are as opposition.)

It’s a joke that is infinitely unfunny.

yes.

Democrats, even in the minority, were highly effective at stopping Trump from getting almost anything done legislatively, and also were effective somewhat at curtailing his executive overreach.

A major component of that was how they embraced the left, which was mostly focused on BLM, as a source of outside power. The inside outside power game can be highly effective when both parties understand their roles.

2025 and Schumer and Jefferies decided on the strategy of curl up and die, after basically denying the base of the party a place at the podium last convention. There are still some good Democrats, but the rest need to embrace their base.

I was just asking about the initial 'W', but thank you for elaborating anyway.

First video we see of a drone strike officially makes it a civil war. Either side.

I have to think that if anyone is going to fight fight, it’s Los Angeles.

Get ready for the fight to come to your town.

It feels dirty rooting for LA from the north bay but go LA! Grrrr...

(We have a great sports rivalry in this state for those who need context) ;)

Media attention benefits the Trump agenda and the point is to set off the powderkeg. There is no deescalation.

To cause a riot is the point; that's why punishment for objecting to agents was fortified as soon as the turd defiled the white house.

Americans will die, but only those who oppose Trump's agenda.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 14 points 8 months ago

There is no deescalation.

Nor can there be deescalation with fascists. Trump is looking for a fight, but fundamentally there can be no way to stop him but a fight. Something something they came for the immigrants, and I ____ (fill in the blank).

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 11 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Americans will die, but only those who oppose Trump's agenda.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that.

[–] Ebby@lemmy.ssba.com 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I guess I should have worded that better. The danger is to the citizens defending our immigrant community from ICE raids.

Americans will die under Trump in other ways too like measles, lack of healthcare, food insecurity, pollution, violence, etc.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 5 points 8 months ago

That’s not what I was referring to.

Resistance fighters.
