but it got me thinking, I think the shooter was aiming for his mouth and the drift made the shot hit a little lower
He seems an adept shooter. I'd bet he was aiming for center mass like a good little sniper. But one can hardly ask the local range if he can practice from their sloping roof out to 250 yards.
It's even funnier now we know the shooter was a right wing gun nut.

Which is odd you know? I thought "meh I've seen some sick shit" but nope. One minute he's a racist accelerationist bigot and the next moment he still is but his brain is clearly whack and blood is rushing down his neck.
Movies and videogames don't come remotely close to representing it accurately
I’ve even see other videos of people getting killed before, and they were not this bad. Not often; I’m not someone who generally seeks that stuff out. Maybe it’s because of the bright lighting, high clarity, and comparatively high resolution of this one, combined with a gunshot wound that had very gory and visible results.
I think what gets people about this one is the large amount of blood that comes from severing a major artery like that and it funneling out through such a focused point followed by how quickly he reacts, goes into shock, then goes limp.
Most gore people get to see, even the real stuff, is much more initially destructive. So the blood goes everywhere all at once and there is very little time or ability to see the immediate reaction of the injured person.
For me, most of the worst stuff I've seen that is not tv/movie make believe that was the most unsettling had very little gore in the traditional sense. It was the reaction of the person that got injured that made it unsettling and the slow realization they make of what happened and is currently happening. There is a much more calm yet panicked tone to it than someone getting ran over by a tank or their head cut off by a terrorist.
Kirk's killer seems to have used some large calibre weapon which probably made it look so particularly brutal and bloody.
It was a .30-06, a 7.62mm round, similar to an AK-47 (ARs uses5.56mm). They make big exit wounds.
Given how close the round hit to his brain and the fact that it hit a major artery, he likely died due to the hydrostatic shock from the impact.
He likely didn’t even know he was hit, he was seizing immediately and all of his body motion after the impact was involuntary.
For me it's mostly how the body reacts to the bullet, the hands going up a little Ina reflex, but you can see he's already lost control of his body. That part is always what gets me

Fucker got what he deserved, I watch it over and over and I feel absolutely nothing for him, no empathy, no connection, no "we're all made of the same stuff" thing, he is a threat, neutralized.
I would've in fact - been very pleasantly surprised if a leftist did this because it meant someone out there with a head on their shoulders getting off their ass to fight for what's right, and what's right is to subdue the threat of the political right, if the means of peaceful discussion, debate and correcting misinformation have failed us, then by any remaining means is fine by me.
His political thought is that me and mine should be eradicated - so forgive my thought that he should be.
As it stands, I feel that this infighting thinning out their ranks is the most uplifting news these days.
Kirk also helped organized and bussed people to the Capitol. It's not just opinions.
But also, yes, if your opinion is certain people should cease to exist simply because they're not white, I will think that person themselves should cease to exist in turn.
