MAGAs Are Fuming After Email Confirms They Will Never Get Their $500 Trump Phones or Deposits Back
(www.ibtimes.co.uk)
This is a most excellent place for technology news and articles.
Bro are these journalists high? Read the terms and conditions...
Yeah, this is just classic clickbait journalism.
I mean, we all know who are we talking about and that the phone doesn’t and will never exist. But the word “confirm” has a meaning, and those updated terms still don’t “confirm” anything.
Apparently the terms and conditions were changed quite recently to make it clear paying a deposit didnt guarantee anything.
That excerpt is from the updated terms.
The terms say that there is “no binding sale contract”, but there is nothing in the article that “confirms” it’s not being made (it probably isn’t, but there’s still no confirmation).
Changing the terms and conditions to say you are now allowed to steal from your customers doesn't seem like it would be legal. Which of course is why trump's doing it.
Everyone's changing ToS on the fly nowadays. This isn't even special Trump fuckery. Having to agree to new ToS after a sale needs to be punished.
Unfortunately, the onus would be on you to prove it in court if the company doesn't follow through. Nobody just shows up to call out a company for doing something that isn't enforceable.
Word to the wise, this is an "easy" way around most HOA rules: you just gotta have lawyer money and time.
Yeah, it's illegal, but the premises where a bit murky too, so it cancels out.
But see (from the article):
The clearest signal yet that buyers may never see either a phone or their money came with a revised terms of service published on 6 April 2026. The updated document states explicitly that paying a deposit 'does not constitute a completed purchase and does not create a binding legal contract.' The payment is described as 'a conditional opportunity to buy the device if Trump Mobile eventually chooses to sell it,' with the company retaining all control over whether a phone is produced at all.
This literally does not mean that the deposit is gone
Is there even a Trump Mobile customer service?
The article clearly mentions the T&C were changed in April. Did you racually read it before getting mad at these journalists?
Did YOU read it? The excerpt you replied to is talked about in the article right in the section about the April change. And if you click the link in that article for revised terms of service you can read it for yourself as well.
The writer is aware of the T&C, they know it was modified. It's in the article.
They report customers have received an email telling them they won't get their phones nor their deposit back.
You're all riled up agaings the journalist because the T&C stipulates refunds will be honored.
So, to summarize: you're mad at the journalist because the email customers received contradicts the T&C on the website?
I’m “mad” at the journalists because, as far as my searching goes, there is no proof that this email actually exists and it’s only been cited by some randos on Twitter, not even by the outlets that reportedly paid the deposit.
The article itself doesn’t even mention anything from the mail, it’s just excerpts from the ToS change. Nothing that would allude to this “confirmation” the title leads to believe. I’d like to see actual screenshots from this supposed mail if you make a title like that, otherwise it’s just more fuel for the MAGAs to claim everything bad we say about Trump is manufactured lies.
Refund request must have be made by the Trump mobile, apparently.
