I troll everyone on occasion. Really just depends on the context. I do think I'd need to know your definition of nazi though.
Alright I hear ya
You think that's fighting them and helping us, but really all it's doing is feeding the trolls and reinforcing their beliefs and group bonds by giving them someone to unite against.
You're not "trolling" them, you're feeding them.
Does it make sense now?
Will you stop encouraging nazis?
What you're doing isn't helping, it's hurting

"Don't feed the trolls" started out as common sense, because everyone should be able to easily understand it.
However you are not the only one who can't understand it on their own, and an absolute shit ton of people have put the time in trying to explain it
But if you can't understand this, there's I absolutely no way you're "deprogramming" anyone.
You are actively working against what you say you want to accomplish, I'm not going to out any more time explaining this, because in 2026 if people really don't understand "don't feed the trolls" there is zero fucking way no one else has tried to explain this to you
You are either incapable or unwilling to understand the most basic point of internet etiquette for over 30 years
You have a wild misunderstanding of what it means to feed the trolls if you think trolling nazis falls under that definition.
The above poster at least brought a reference. Here's another covering the backfire effect in general https://psychotricks.com/backfire-effect/
People are a tricky problem. They don't often work the way one would think, and certainly not the way we might wish. I think it's a fair position to take that the social media environment, and the way people with opposing views interact there, has had a non-negligible impact on the rise in extreme views. That definitely includes trolling.
But here I am offering a differing opinion with a reference in support of the backfire effect, which is some next-level irony.
Are you completely unilaterally in support of everything on the left and believe everyone/thing on the right is equivalent to 1940s nazis? (Currently)
Interesting take, I hear ya.
