What a fucked up timeline we live in.

[–] Sawzall@lemmynsfw.com 38 points 6 months ago (4 children)

Effectively, a porn star helping with policies. This is normal.

[–] BruceTwarzen@kbin.social 37 points 6 months ago

I have absolutely nothing against porn stars. Pretty sure a lot of them are just nice and smart people and doing porn is just a pretty well paying job. Calling this vile cunt a porn star is an insult to people who work for their money

Andy was right. It’s an amazing comeback story.

"She had cum on her back, I think"

[–] rimu@piefed.social 10 points 6 months ago (1 children)

It's an election year and Kim Kardashian has a massive Instagram following. That's all this is.

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 6 months ago

Yeah Harris has a “I guess this is the world now” sorta look on her face.

[–] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 11 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Meh, Elvis went to the house, was even deputized or some shit.

And he was dumber than a Kardashian, if that's possible...

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)

And he was dumber than a Kardashian, if that's possible...

Even if that was true, he had more talent and charisma than the entire Kardashian/Jenner clan combined in his gyrating hips alone.

[–] prole@sh.itjust.works 10 points 6 months ago

Ok, but is that relevant here? How many non-violent drug offenders did Elvis get out of prison? Oh right, he did the opposite. They gave him a fucking badge and he was a fucking narc

The one where we kept voting for the lesser evil instead of flipping the Monopoly board.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 59 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Government listens to nepo babies.

[–] Arghblarg@lemmy.ca 48 points 6 months ago

Americans rejected The Crown, but missed vapid royalty so much, they had to invent their own.

[–] Maeve@kbin.social 9 points 6 months ago

That and Harris was vile in several cases she prosecuted before she was veep.

[–] JeffreyOrange@lemmy.world 50 points 6 months ago

Such an idiocracy headline.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.world 46 points 6 months ago (1 children)

That family is such a joke just go away please

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

What if they got on a spaceship and then we lost contact and hundreds of years later we rediscovered them, having evolved through inbreeding and plastic surgery into the Cardassians?

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

They’re like the twinkies surviving nuclear apocalypse because they’re so synthetic

From the article

Kardashian’s advocacy has been credited in part with opening the former president up to the idea of criminal justice reform, eventually leading to the passage of the First Step Act in 2018. The prison-reform law marked a rare moment of bipartisanship during Trump’s presidency, and even some of his harshest critics have lauded its passage.

Not a fan of her or her show but I'm all for her using her fame to help make changes to help people reintegrate back into society.

[–] CptEnder@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

Yeah fr mad respect for Kim on this.

[–] Thorny_Insight@lemm.ee 28 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Think of her what you will but in 2019 she had helped 17 people to get released from prison for non-violent drug crimes and that number is probably much larger today. She has done more good in the world than 99% of the people shitting on her.

[–] mojo_raisin@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago (1 children)

She's also done more harm than 99% by inspiring shit culture.

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

What do you mean by shit? What else does she do?

[–] TheGalacticVoid@lemm.ee 2 points 6 months ago

My best guess is that they're talking about "reality" TV, mobile games etc. with little artistic or entertainment value.

[–] woelkchen@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

It irks me that she and her family uses the fame of OJ Simpson lawyer Ropert Kardashian to profit off it. Nobody knew the name Kardashian before Simpson murdered two people. A double homicide shouldn't be the launch of a business empire. I find it immortal but I respect other views as well.

[–] 108@lemmy.world 17 points 6 months ago

We are doomed as a society

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 15 points 6 months ago (3 children)

Seems absurd but I know nothing about Kim Kardashian, other than she has a famous butt.

Does anyone know if she’s actually got some expertise on this?

[–] woelkchen@lemmy.world 17 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Her father was a defense lawyer for OJ Simpson.

[–] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 13 points 6 months ago

That seems like less of a qualification than her ass

[–] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 10 points 6 months ago

She has done some advocacy for this in the past, but really beyond leveraging her fame not really.

[–] wintermute_oregon@lemm.ee -4 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Is this a serious question ? I’m no fan of Kim but this is topic she is versed on. She worked with Trump to get several people pardons. It’s why is studying to be a lawyer.

So I’d say she is at least passionate about the topic.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 14 points 6 months ago

Umm, did she ever do more than pass that exam? I can't find her credentials online.

[–] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 11 points 6 months ago
[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 8 points 6 months ago

Welp, that’s enough internet for me today

[–] TheControlled@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Kamala must be grinding her teeth to dust doing this song and dance with that abomination of society.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Nah, contentless demagoguery like this is what built her entire career. If anything, she'll be asking Kardashian for PR advice.

Probably not that strong a weapon when most of your job takes place either seated or behind a lectern..

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 7 points 6 months ago (2 children)

There was an old racist behind this idea.

Ms. Harris?

[–] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

Its like bring your kid to work, day

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Now get Dr. Davis to discuss it with you.

[–] aleph@lemm.ee 1 points 6 months ago

Finally, two political heavyweights are on the case.
