The media is really gonna rerget bring this up lol

Whatever that effect thing is... Millions of people across the world gonna be readong ol Uncle Ted's ramblings which are aging quite well unlike the corporatist trash raygoon and politicians shilled for the last 40 years

I've also seen them try to smear him as an elite because he went to a school that they spelled out cost 40,000 a year.

All that tells me is that he was on track to shut up and claim a privileged position, but destroyed that to send a message of conscience.

Man the owners hate him. I hope they continue to overplay their hand on that.

And he is from affluent Maryland family.

Good for him... Still a chad jaja

We don't pick our heros, they come as they are

He clearly sees the same thing rest of workers see.

It means even more when you're born into a position to just take the money and live like a pharoah on all of our backs as almost all born into such circumstances do...

...but instead choose to fight on behalf of those your class subjugates and murders for profit.

That is more than desperation. That is more than vengeance. That is conscience.

He's a software guy. The difference between his take home pay which covers the cost of living, some hobbies, and a car, and a guy worth $50,000,000 is about $49,800,000.

[–] granolabar@kbin.melroy.org 18 points 2 weeks ago

I saw shit floating on reddit or twitter is that his family has money. they own shit. again could be misinformation but it tracks with UPen background.

with that being said IT DOES NOT FUCKING MATTER.

His work speaks for itself, and I am interested to hear what he has to say more than any media or regime talking head selling their ass for a few million.

Dude is literally batman, just without the dead parents. May he walk free. So hope he is smart and shuts up and lawyer up.

[–] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Didn't Batman make it a point not to shoot anyone with a gun?

I'm not sure "literally" is the right word.

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago

He's the Batman we deserve.

yeah I remeber in the 90's thinking he was a nutter and I forgot about it in the early aughts but when someone brought it up in the teens I reread and was like. holy crap. Im a doomer type and I will often say its just were the math takes me. He was a mathemetician and kinda the original doomer.

Yeah with a bit of editing it would have mass appeal

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

We really need to get someone to edit down Marx's writings into TikTok brainrot format.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

We already did, it's Dolly Parton's "Nine to Five"

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Except Dolly’s song isn’t brain rot.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

That book really could stand to have had a good editor.

This is easily something that would appear in subs or communities. Antiwork, workreform, boringdystopia, collapse, latestagecapitalism… I’d be surprised if there weren’t existing multiple posts mirroring what he wrote, minus any Unabomber references.

lost a star for writing "You can’t have your cake and eat it too," in the wrong order

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Which way did he write it?

In case anyone doesn't know, "can't eat your cake and have it too" is the correct order because once you eat it it's gone and you can't have it.

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] jmcs@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 weeks ago

Except it doesn't, the most popular order is nonsensical and Ted was right about it.

If someone asks you what you did yesterday, do you usually list events at random, or do you list them in chronological order? Sentences with multiple clauses are ordered by timeline by default.

So, of course you can have a cake and eat it too, you just won't have a cake anymore at end of the sentence. What's impossible is to eat the cake and still have if after that.

[–] Hikermick@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Interesting if only because this suspect being touted on social media as being the shooter is giving off Uni-bubba vibes
