A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

How could u? Disagreeing makes u a fascist! Ur a bad faith fuckknucle. Heres some sources as to why ur wrong (insert bias source denying Tiananmen square ever happened).
Disagreement here is more of an opportunity to either learn or educate than almost anywhere else from what I've seen
or be downvoted, namecalled and perhaps have death threatened on you because you disagree with one point and are therefore the enemy

On topic, I agree with you. Really like the community here and exciting to see it continue to grow.
The only problem is when there is a person being a shithead it hurts me much more than on other websites.

I dont get the joke.. Eat it, have sex with it, take it apart and rub it on your face. None of that intersects with my world at all. As long as you dont rub it on children I'd say we're good.

Gosh you're right, I'm so special and kind and humble, I deserve to be recognised for how extremely humble I am ♥️
In seriousness, I have good days and bad days, sometimes I'm grumpy or pretty my anger about a bag thing happening to people get the better of me and go into my words, but I do care about everyone, I do want a better world and an end to bigotry, fascism, racism, techno-feudalism, late stage capitalism, and if I could own my own house this lifetime that'd be great too, for my family's sake...
I'm just so angry at the state of things, so disenfranchised, so fed up, and places like this are where I actually see all of the articles and posts about this awful stuff, not to mention actually running in to bootlickers and scummy people. It's hard not to get grumpy and angry while I'm here :-(
I might take a break from this stuff next year, I'm not sure yet. Staying informed feels important, but at the same time feels futile and damaging to my mental health, so I might just let myself be ignorant for a while, you know?

I think the way we consume news has gotten incredibly unhealthy. The rush to know things as fast as possible has lowered the quality of news, and mixing the news into your entertainment feed of the entire day might be weird for our brain.
I feel you though. There's shitty things happening in the world and it doesn't seem like it's helpful to anyone for me to know about every little instance. I wish I could just get detailed stories for local news, and just get general stats for national stuff.
I’ve gone on total media blackout, it was destroying my mental health. I even deleted the news widgets on my phone. I have two exceptions:
- Lemmy, but I have a very curated list of communities I follow. No “news”, no politics.
- I follow RSS feeds from sites/people I like. For example, Cory Doctorow, Electrek, Kottke, Daring Fireball.
Through this, I eventually learn about the “important” stuff, but it’s not in my face at all times, baiting for clicks and inducing rage.
Taking back the internet one blocked community at a time. This is the way.

I feel left out, what drama did I miss?
Some guy was going to have sex with a fried chicken sandwhich and was expecting a fight about it from atheists.
There was a post saying everyone on Lemmy was up themselves and full of shit and the worst, going into way too much detail for seemingly no reason. I tried to reply and found it was deleted. So then I reversed it and trimmed the fat.
