This was a project at Netflix for a long time, and just recently I learnt they had spent $30m on pre-production before letting the project go.
Wrote off $30m before letting the project go
I'm excited for this, however I think Masters of the Universe peaked already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR7wOGyAzpw
End credits song if I ever heard one.
please for the love of god don't Ninja Turtles this shit
I've never heard of the lead actor, but he looks the part. Idris Elba as Duncan, cool, Allison Brie as Evil Lyn, interesting choice, and for Skeletor we have... Nope, I'm out.
Fuck man. I had to go look it up to see who it was JARED f’n LETO! You know how to get me to never watch a movie? Cast Jared Leto in it.
I mean, I've seen him be good in things. But he takes himself way too seriously to be fucking Skeletor. Look at his take on Joker (coincidentally another Mark Hamill voice). I mean, if we don't get a floating skull and a bandolier/mankini with a gravelly whine, then what are we even doing here?
I actually think he was perfectly cast for Morbius. He's kind of a ridiculous macabre character, but it only works if the world around him is all bright colors and superheroes. Like, he's most effective when he fights Spider-Man or when he teams up with normal heroes to guide them through the dark places.
Imagine putting Leto's Morbius into the Werewolf By Night special next to Jack Russel and Elsa Bloodstone. Given good writers, he could have worked. Matt Smith also gave a good perfomance that was horribly wasted on bad writing and direction.
If the MCU finds a way to fold in some of the Sonyverse, I wouldn't mind a Midnight Sons film with Leto's Morbius, Nic Cage as an elder Johnny Blaze, Moon Knight, Werewolf, Man-Thing, and Bloodstone. Drop Cumberbatch in for a little Strange Exposition, and you'd have to spray bitter apple on the props and scenery.
I hate to admit he was good in Bladerunner 2049 but that’s literally the only good performance he’s had in 15 years.
Also he runs a cult.
I didn't know about the cult, but that seems on-brand.
