Who is that player that is going to jump out and make a case for All-Star selection?

Someone we didn't see coming...

My pick would be Franz Wagner.

I can see the Magic having a good record come the all-star break and as a result Franz and Paolo get selected in the East...

Who's your pick?

Not surprising at all, he's a top 5 small forward in the league.

Don’t think it’s really a surprise cuz he could’ve made it last year but Desmond Bane gon put up numbers with Ja gone and I think they’ll be pretty good without him too. Give me Bane

Desmond Bane will shoot the lights out during the Ja Morant suspension and sneak into the last spot

[–] StalkingDwarf@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I could see Desmond Bane getting some All-Star considerations with Ja being out for the first 25 games. He puts up good counting stats, plays great defence and I think the Grizzlies could start the season strong which could give him some nods. It'll be tough in the West, but I could see him landing a reserve spot.

Jordan Poole. Narrative + PPG.

[–] Vast-Lie1583@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

His teammates already complaining about him in preseason. That’s gonna kill his odds.

[–] JimmerAteMyPasta@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I keep saying this and getting downvoted in threads, but he's going to be putting up insane numbers as a #1 option to the point where defense might not matter as much, unless his bad defense narrative takes over.

Some silly narrative like “The Wizards suck ass but since he happened to drop 25+ more than twice before All-Star Weekend then that means he’s carrying them.” Or something like that.

He hasn't been an All-Star in 5 seasons so I think he works here, but my vote is Porzingis. I think the Celts are going to win a lot of games and Porzingis' efficiencies will skyrocket playing next to the Jays. If he repeats his stats last year with better efficiency and on a 1 seed or 2 seed it will be hard to keep him out of the All Star team.

[–] dmavs11@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I just feel like Porzingis has been so impressive in the preseason it’s completely feasible he puts up better numbers than Jaylen Brown. In terms of talent, I take KP above JB. It’s just health and consistency.

[–] dys0n_giddey@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Good call. I can see it.

Zinger would be a surprise thats for sure.

[–] xerxesthagreat@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

desmond bane. won’t be that surprising though.

[–] Thehelloman0@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'd be very surprised if Vassell was an all star. He is going to surprise people with how good he is because apparently tons of people had never heard of him which is very strange to me. But he relies way too much on his outside shot and while he's not bad on defense, he isn't very good either.

[–] spittafan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Also you guys are probably going to lose a ton of games this year lol

Would Dejounte be a surprise?

[–] barstoollanguage@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Id like to think kuminga could, but i dont know how far out touch of reality that is lol

[–] jaylen7@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] isaacz321@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yea that would be a huge surprise. He’s damn good but he have to make it over jrue and/or porzingis unless Celtics are the first team ever with 5 all stars

[–] butterbeancd@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Austin Reaves, because of the Lakers fan voting bump.

Based purely on play? Jalen Williams.

[–] RandomStranger79@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

John Collins

[–] jett1406@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago
[–] johnhenryirons@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Jaylen Brunson will hopefully make the team. He'd be a bit of a surprise since the guards in the east is pretty stacked.

[–] seceipseseer@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Would wemby be a surprise?

Scottie Barnes. I think the raptors start surprisingly well this season with the new looking offense.

Tyrese Maxey, bro is gonna cook under Nick Nurse

[–] pendletonskyforce@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It would be a player in the east.

[–] fragileallstar@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago
[–] HEATLE@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Tyler Herro. If the Heat have a top 4/5 record and he’s scoring 20+ a game I think he can crack the lineup. Lillard, Brunson, Halliburton and Trae are really his only competition. I don’t think Harden with the current shenanigans will get in, Boston has 2 all stars already, LaMelo’s Hornets’ record won’t be great.

[–] Nuclearsunburn@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yup it’s gonna be Herro, and people will be shocked even though they shouldn’t be

This thread is just players who are borderline all stars.

Give me Josh Green. Breakout next to Kyrie and Luca.
