It's been said before, but without due process there is not due process to determine who is and who isn't an immigrant. Also, using the word "deport" for what is happening is sanewashing. When someone is deported, they get sent back to their own country or a country of convenience where they can continue productive life in some capacity.

What we have here is a gulag. Folks are being rounded up due to informants and being disappeared to a secret prison without any oversight. Are there American citizens "mistakenly" on the "deportation" flight to the secret prison where there is generally no contact? Who can say?

Hear that those who swore an oath ?

Oh those were just words?

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 59 points 3 days ago (3 children)

61% of veterans voted for him so those words are what they wanted to hear.

[–] Liberal_Ghost@lemmy.zip 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I didn't fucking vote for him. Sadly I do know some vets that did.

[–] fishy@lemmy.today 6 points 3 days ago

It was really sad reading a post on Reddit yesterday where they were applauding the Republicans for moving $2 billion in benefits for veteran housing... How did they forget about the $22 billion that just got cut for veteran medical benefits?

I'm constantly reminded that Socrates was correct and that democracy has too many unqualified and uninformed voters and will give rise to demagogues.

Yeah but it only takes one

[–] Anti_Iridium@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

I sure as fuck didn't.

They treat it like most people treat a EULA.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 30 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Every picture of him leads me to think he grew his beard solely because he thought his face wasn't being taken seriously enough.

[–] dmention7@lemm.ee 20 points 3 days ago (1 children)

On the one hand, you're probably right. On the other hand, I also look like a doofus with a bare chin so I can't really judge him on that account.

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I have a beard hoping to disguise the fact that I don't have a chin.

[–] Fluke@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago

I'm in this picture, and I don't like it.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

yea he has a really pudgy baby face, feminine because of his eyeliner. its the same thing musk did, grew the pubic hair on his face, shapiro did the same thing too.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 52 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Its funny to me they say immigrants. The way its being used its anybody they want. There is no safety in citizenship.

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Unless you're an American Indian we're all immigrants, eventually.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

Since the Native Americans were given reservations with their own sovereignty, MAGAs have suggested that whenever they step off the reservation to go to the grocery store, etc., they are technically undocumented illegal immigrants, and can be snatched up and sent to El Salvador.

[–] Hikuro93@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Inb4 Trump claims American Indians are just Indians from India who tried to fool true 'muricans.

No. Only if you're his obedient wife.

They'll deport you if you're American Indian.

[–] Hikuro93@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I really have this naive dream that when this all is over and they have to face consequences justice opens an exception of irony for the lot of them and gives them the medicine they so defended - no due process, straight to foreign gulag. Then photo op in front of their cell.

I don't expect it to happen in the slightest. But god, would I accept it so well. These people need to be made an example of, otherwise there'll always be a whole army of them lined up for the next attempt.

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

We really need it to happen, congress is running around like they are not citizens who can fall victim to these new rules. Before we close the loop holes we need to GITMO them all and send a message to any future fascists. the paradox of tolerance has been broken. We need to acknowledge that when its time to prosecute.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's just one more item on his list of things they tell him to say.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 5 points 2 days ago

Naw, he's as evil as any of them, and more evil than most. He is fully-owned by Peter Theil, who holds his leash. He's fully into this shit.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

Dude looks like silly putty, Rudies forehead sweat after a fresh dye job and Trump's fresh diaper drippings.

[–] lupusblackfur@lemmy.world 23 points 3 days ago (3 children)

"ripped"

And I'm certain Couchie will be suitably chastened and cowed by these words.

Don't get me wrong, words are a good beginning, but so much more is needed and the current crop of entrenched Dems are evidently just not up to the fight.

🙄 🤡 🖕

[–] TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (5 children)

Bashing and slamming haven't worked, so I guess they're giving ripping a try now?

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

until they are "rampaging" or "frothing" I'm not going to be satisfied. I want to see them "apoplectic". Because I'm apoplectic.

[–] Uli@sopuli.xyz 5 points 3 days ago

Sorry, I know we were meant to deport a bunch of immigrants to a concentration camp for the crime of having brown skin today, but it turns out I've been ripped by the news media. Yeah, unfortunately, I won't be able to commit hate crimes with you anymore.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

They're ripping and a'ramming, bippin and a'bambing, bashing and a'slamming and in the meantime Republicans are continuing to not give a shit and wiping their ass with the Constitution followed by the Magna Carta.

Edit: Have you even said thank you once?!

I started out trying to read this to the tune of Splish Splash, but then it quit fitting the rhythm. 🙁

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

And tearing. Until it is done.

[–] Shardikprime@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Have they tried shredding and destroying

[–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Site literally has a popup saying “outrage is not enough — we need to fight back”

[–] grue@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

That's just a fucking donation link!

"Fighting back" does not mean donating to feckless neoliberals or equivocating media. "Fighting back" means fighting back.

[–] eestileib@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 days ago

Holy shit that picture makes him look really fucking weird

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Fully steeped in the koolaid he is

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

hes doing what his master THIEL does, getting a pet from him once in a while for doing his bidding.

[–] gamer@lemm.ee 2 points 3 days ago

When he does a good fascism, Thiel lets him up on the couch.
