If u can choose between giannid or Jokic to play with curry on this year or the 2022 team. I really like both of them with Steph, giannis because he’s dominant inside and is great on defense but Jokic and curry would be 2 of the greatest offensive players ever and I think they would be a better duo than Shaq and Kobe and could potentially threepeat. I think either of these players with Steph would win multiple rings but idk who would be better. What do you guys think?

Jokic is the easier fit with almost any other star player not just because of his incredible passing but also his willingness to make the right play

[–] robeyn10@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

there is not a single scenario where i would take Giannis over Jokic on my team

[–] mesnupps@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Jokic is way more skilled

[–] TravisPicklez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s by far Jokic. But everyone probably knew that.

[–] Kvsav57@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Jokic. Giannis is great but the playmaking and spacing created by Jokic and Curry would be insane. As it is, the Nuggets get a ton of alley oops because of Jokic's gravity and playmaking. If you added a truly elite 3-point shooter to the Nuggets, defenses would have no way of stopping it.

[–] coolstorybroham@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Jokic. It’d be like having bubble Murray every game.

[–] TheYamss@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Warriors offense hinges so much on Dray and Steph, where Dray facilitates off the blitz. They won 4 championships with this. Now take Dray and turn him into Jokic. GIGA broken

Jokic, his skill and point guard skills would be like Steph having a 7 ft tall Draymond who can also be an offensive threat.

Giannis would be amazing but he would be better suited to pair with someone like Harden who would dominate pick n roll with him.

Giannis has more gravity to him I think, meaning he pulls the defence stronger to him which often leads to more space at the perimeter. This could work really well with Curry although I think Steph‘s defender would be the last one to help. Jokic obviously brings elite passing which would fit very well with Stehpen and the warriors as they run a lot of plays and have strong off ball movement. I dont know who fits better but if I had to guess I‘d say Jokic. But we will see how Giannis and Dame will work together, I think the dynamic between Giannis and Curry would be very similar.

It'd be the best duo in the league by a continental mile and completely unbeatable with either of those squads minus the player they'd replace (Looney and Mal).

Jokic. It’s not even a question. Best passer and shot creator in the game.

See what Jokic and Murray are doing, how unstoppable that duo is, and realise Murray is, what, 85% as good as Steph? There's your answer.

jokic is the best player ever according to this sub

[–] rocket_beer@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Giannis’s star is kind of fading.

I honestly think it’s because of the money… but I dunno.

He had a hunger about him early on. Now? Psshhhh, he is like “yea, another ring maybe…”

I’ll take Jokic. He’s also the better player.

[–] Big_East_Cat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Shooters and post players are the perfect complements to each other. Jokic and Curry would be like witnessing a basketball supernova. Would love to see it.

Basically you get an upgraded Murray with Steph. It would be like having the modern version of Kobe and Shaq. KD and Steph was a cheat code pairing but Jokic and Steph would break the game.

[–] Successful_Priority@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They’re both pretty busted as a duo with Steph. I prefer Steph with Giannis since I think they happen to get along better from what I see in the All Star games and I don’t look at Giannis like he’s an absolute dummy on offense whose best offensive skill is in transition.

Giannis and Steph both play faster on offense than Jokic in transition in which both players can play the passer and the guy running for the pass (I know Jokic is an amazingly quick transition passer). Also a better defensive pair.

Prior to this season Giannis’ best offensive help is Chris Middleton for his shooting and capability to create his own shot in the half court and Jrue Holiday for pg duties. I think people can agree that Steph is better than those 2 at those offensive skills. Even if Steph plays a combo on/off ball role for a pg his better scoring prowess allows for more passing to others to score and he’s a good and willing passer.

Also even if a team has a center who isn’t a good shooter with Giannis and Steph, Steph is able to make Dray and Looney work on offense he can work with bad spacing from your 4s and 5s. Hell he helps GP2 work with Dray on offense. It’s easier to cover for Steph’s defensive weaknesses than Jokic’s since you can put a more defensive slanted line up on the floor easier behind an offensive superstar guard.

Jokic/Curry would be so unguardable that you could probably surround them with 3 Robert Covington/Pat Bev types and still score 120 a game, assuming you had at least one elite Bench scorer. You have 2 guys that need to be doubled wherever they are on the court, neither of them ever stops moving and they basically never miss the open man, completely unstoppable.

anything over than jokic is wrong

[–] G00dEase@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Jokic & it’s not even close. His passing & p & r mastery with Steph as his robin would be borderline unguardable.

[–] 2020IsANightmare@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'd say Giannis just because they cover up the only real weaknesses in the other's game.

Either would be great though.

[–] jlluh@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Curry and Jokic would be so insanely synergistic.

It's basically like if Jamal Murray were a top 10 player all time instead of a "probable future all-star."

[–] ArthurMaxley@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Anyone playing with Jokic will be fulfilling his potential. The dude understands basketball and how to make everyone better.

[–] Live_Substance_8519@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

jokic kicking it out to curry is literally the most bananas thing the sport probably would have seen

e: imagine if ‘16 lebron and ‘16 curry somehow landed on the same team. pretty much the same situation.

[–] Redditforever12@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

depends on the rest of the roster

if you replacing gsw center for jokic vs giannis i pick jokic.

[–] thegodfaubel@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Purely based on the basketball, Jokic. But Jokic seems like the kinda guy that wouldn't care about winning 4 rings in a row and could always get bored and go be with his horses (he's said as much). The overall fit is probably better with Giannis even if they wouldn't be "better". Giannis and Steph would continue to push each other more than I think Jokic would want to. At the same time, that's why Jokic is so popular and it works with Denver

[–] Haryuji@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Both Curry and Jokic have ridiculous gravity and they both are amazing at punishing it so having them both on the floor is guaranteed points. Giannis can't manipulate using his gravity the same way Curry and Jokic can so Imma pick them.

[–] Y0TIMB0@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Joker and Curry could go for 200 points. Gianni's and Curry will look clunky.

[–] edgymnerch_69@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

People simply saying X because they’re a better player need to realise basketball isn’t just about lumping the best players together. It’s about the best fits.

I’d still say Jokic though, better player

[–] shazam482@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Jokic and Curry easily, because it would take Steph's most terrifying attribute (off ball movement) and synergise it with Jokic's absurd playmaking. To put it a different way, Jokic would be the one of maybe 5 guys in the league who could give Steph wide open looks.

With Giannis, that is also an absurd combination. But you're looking at a bunch of pick and rolls with Giannis as the roll threat. Steph would be playing more like he was under Mark Jackson, rather than Steve Kerr

[–] Michaelangel092@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Jokic with Curry is the NBA equivalent to an Eldritch God.

How would they lose? Imagine the Jokic - Murray two man game...but with Curry instead of Murray. That's fucking illegal.

Depends if you prefer Steph's lobs to be dunked thunderously or gently caressed/guided/tipped into the rim.

Both would work but it might say more about you than the individual players 🤔

[–] bobopedic33@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think Giannis just because there is less overlap of skills.

[–] Impossible_Oil8884@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Jokic and curry would be a goat tandem!

[–] BurcoPresentsHisAcc@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Definitely with Jokic. Sure Giannis’ defense would be nice but Jokic’s ability to pass and score is something no one else can do in the NBA rn.

[–] Drymonk1996@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm pretty sure you can surround Jokic and curry with decent college D1 players who can shoot and defend and this team makes the playoffs.

[–] Bokiverse@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Depends on other pieces

Are the other 3 guys MPJ, KCP, and Gordon? Then Jokic, obviously. That’s probably the most unstoppable team in nba

[–] opiumdom@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

jokic and curry would be insane. draymond is already like a smaller and overall much worse player than jokic, but he shares the ball and takes some off the play running tasks from steph
