He doesn't pay his own legal bills though... He has reneged on paying for arbitration he forced hundreds of prior employees into after he didn't pay them the severance he agreed to. https://www.reuters.com/legal/litigation/twitter-stalling-hundreds-ex-workers-legal-cases-lawsuit-2023-07-03/

In short, he didn't pay his employees, he didn't pay his fees when they came to collect, and he won't pay anyone's legal bill either.

Hmm, sounds familiar. Isn’t there another guy who never pays anyone who works for him? Can’t quite remember his name, it’s on the tip of my tongue.

Press X to doubt

Those couple of ex-twitter employees that got fired for tweeting how much musk sucked should apply for this, get denied, and then sue X for their legal fees.

[–] windie@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

That would be great

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 40 points 1 year ago

Lol sure, just like Trump pays the legal bills of his arrested Magats

I’m glad we have two billionaires who have shattered the illusions we have collectively had that billionaires are somehow super intelligent proficient businessmen.

The idea of meritocracy in the United States is complete bullshit. No man is an island. No one gets anywhere without their family, community, and society.

Even you and me.

No one. Not even that one guy you know.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Who is the other one? Surely not Donald Trump, he ain't no billionaire. He may claim to have that lifestyle but is in debt up to his eyeballs.

The only thing Trump and Musk have in common is their tendency to not pay people what they owe them. I wouldn't rely on Musk's promises to pay for anything at all.

Mr. Submarine i'm assuming.

[–] RGB3x3@lemmy.world 30 points 1 year ago

So say I'm an employee of Twitter. If I say that I value free speech, government regulation and trans people, then I'm mistreated by Musk, will he pay my legal fees against himself?

Doubt.

[–] MicroWave@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) had done research that showed hate and disinformation was "spreading like wildfire on the platform under Musk's ownership".

[–] downpunxx@kbin.social 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Musk hasn't paid his own legal bills, his ex employees for their severance, or the rent for Twitter offices on multiple continents, his word is as good as Donald Trumps.

[–] blivet@artemis.camp 2 points 1 year ago

I don’t know anything about commercial real estate, but of all his egregious behavior, I’m amazed that he has gotten away with not paying Twitter’s rent for months. Why haven’t the property owners just locked him out?

[–] Namstel@lemmy.one 8 points 1 year ago

I call bullshit.

[–] Yepthatsme@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

He’s just fishing for fascists. Openly mind you.

[–] mojo@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

LOL the sad thing is people will believe this

[–] treefrog@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Would be great if Tesla employees took to Twitter to unionize.
