Of course they did. Non-story.

[–] Loud-East1969@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

DJ Moore not available?

[–] Skimaster77@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Should have just traded Burns, who they still haven't signed, and kept Moore.

[–] SayNoob@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why? Then we would be talking about how the Panthers have no pass rush and were stupid to trade away Burns.

[–] tbone747@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Burns is great but he's not Garrett/Watt/Bosa good, and that's the money he'll command. I think he's far better off on a team that already has a good chunk of DL talent and/or a star player on the line already, like y'all with Donald, which is why the 2 FRP rumor kind of made sense.

[–] SayNoob@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He's one tier below, but still those guys don't tend to make it to the open market and are extremely hard to find. I would have been ecstatic if we got burns for 2 first rounders but I don't think that would have been a good trade for you guys.

All in all I think good WR play is much easier to find in free agency than good pass rush. So I think you're better off trading away Moore than you are Burns, even if it takes a few years to build an offense.

This sounds like the type of non-story that the team intentionally leaks.

“See, we’re trying!!!”

Notice the complete lack of details. What were the Panthers offering? Which players/picks were discussed?

[–] Lithops_salicola@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Is it even that? WR is a pretty low priority. I have to imagine fans would prefer an actual defense or Oline before they start trading for star receivers.

[–] reporter_any_many@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

“See, we’re trying!!!”

Trying to do what, cripple this team even more? The Panthers should be trying to acquire picks, not give them up. If anything, this story makes the FO sound even more incompetent if true

I think if Davante went from the raiders to the panthers he'd retire

[–] RoadPersonal9635@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If you told me three years ago Devante was going from the Packers to the Raiders that he’d retire as well but we were all surprised

[–] AleroRatking@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What are they trading? They don't have their 2024 first.

[–] Spoof2020@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Probably Burns

[–] Overtons_Window@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Better chance of trading Bryce Young to the Bears for their first round pick back

[–] Simmumah@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I would've killed to see the face of Adams

Ziegler: Hey Adams you're being traded

Adams: Fuck yeah! Thanks so much! Where am I going?

Ziegler: Carolina.

Adams: ?

[–] Fiendish-DoctorWu@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

"you're going to the NCFS!"

:)

:(

It's not fair to blame Davante for buying JMcD's bullshit. They gave up the draft capital, they had the QB he always wanted. They gave him a $140M, $60 sum million guaranteed.

Then Josh goes and does whatever he was thinking, why? Idk. Carr ain't great. But to call Jimmy G better than Carr is total crap. He is at most equal to Carr in skill. The change from Carr to Jimmy G was a lateral move, at best.

JMcD trades away the teams best assets, changes the entire make up of the team, and leaves it in total disarray.

Can't blame Carr or Adams for that.

[–] AmbiguousUprising@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This is the second time McDaniels has gotten a coaching job, and immediately blew up the offense, getting rid of an established starter. Maybe hes just not real smart.

[–] theJMAN1016@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't understand this thinking.

Almost all of us in Packers land saw this coming. Carr was already on the hot seat when they traded for Davante.

Everyone joked that Davante wouldn't be happy and look what happened.

[–] Waesrdtfyg0987@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The plan was Davante + offensive genius coach should have gotten Carr off the hot seat. Great theory...

[–] samsab@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You got Von Bell and Hurst already bro

HANDS OFF

[–] log_asm@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You can have hurst back if you want.

[–] USAesNumeroUno@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Not at his current contract lol.

[–] Dieh@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fitt was desperately trying to sink our future even more to salvage his job.

[–] eLaVALYs@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Fitts gone after this season. Season is done and we have no draft capital, why spend more?? Who's gonna come in and ~~take us to the playoffs~~ make us better?? Fitt is done.

[–] jxher123@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Panthers have no picks to trade; they’d have a better shot at Higgins if they throw the bank at him in FA, assuming he gets there

[–] harknation@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If McDaniels had traded Adams to the Panthers there would be a warrant out for his arrest on charges of football terrorism

[–] MaskedBandit77@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don't find that the slightest but surprising. We knew that they were looking for a top WR, and those are two of the best that seemed like they could have been available.

I'd be curious to know if they were able to make any sort of reasonable offer and what that might have looked like.

[–] Celtictussle@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

To quote our GM regarding Higgins:

"if they want a great WR like Tee, they can draft one like we did"

[–] Pork_Chompk@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hm... if only they had a solid offensive weapon that they could have kept on the roster... Hmmm....

[–] ZachTrillson@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

yeah so did we

[–] Anxious-Trouble429@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I love how one Deandre Hopkins was widely available and within cap space for the Panthers this off-season and they didn’t bother making a move, and now in season they realize it wasn’t exactly a good idea rolling out Adam Thielen as the only guy on that offense that can function and try throwing away even more draft capital.

[–] YiMyonSin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Carolina. Don’t. Fuck. With. Your. Weapons.

You saw what happened with the AJ trade, and decided to one-up it with trading away your first this year

[–] brehaw@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] twitchosx@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yea... we aint giving him up.

[–] varnell_hill@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Adams and Thielen ain’t a bad combo.

[–] PlumbStraightLevel@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Don't they need a qb?

[–] Brandycane1983@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The Panthers are stupid and I hate them. Traded away CMC and Moore, then it's OMG shocked Pikachu, Bryce has no one to throw the ball to. I've been a fan since 95 and this team is a dumpster fire. Conversely, I live in Vegas and Adams seems so much happier now that McDaniels and team are gone. Raiders balled out last week, so at least I do get some football positivity in my life

[–] superpie12@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] itismoo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

DeAndre Hopkins was just sitting there waiting for a bag . They could have had him without having to trade

[–] uh-ohlol@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They need to trade ownership. The only improvements to the organization is more peace of mind for female and minority employees. The team use to have a winning record every other season, like clockwork. Mediocrity never looked so good!

Should've tried for DJ Moore

[–] FlavaFraz24@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Get your own Tee Higgins- Duke Tobin

[–] Sybertron@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Panthers like "we ready to make a run fuck these picks"

[–] shapu@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

FUCKING WHAT

[–] accountforeddit@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

LMFAO why the FUCK would the Bengals ship Higgins to Carolina? Laughable they even inquired unless they were ready to offer a 1st round pick.

I obviously get the contract situation, but he's much more valuable to the Bengals for a possible Super Bowl run, than shipping him off and diminishing their chances & depth at the position.

If you're a really good team and you just ship off your best players whenever you think there's a low chance of them re-signing, you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face. Those draft picks you get in return aren't going to help fill out your depth or in your playoff run for that year.

[–] AnthonyBarrHeHe@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I mean the raiders aren’t out of the playoff race yet. I feel like with Pierce and a rejuvenated team after canning mcdaniels, they can win some and make a push for a wildcard berth tbh
