To be fair they had to play the Orlando Magic

This is how users like /u/MITWestbrook are born
Losing Jrue and Lopez/Middleton getting older are both big issues
Celtics won the Dame trade
100%
Marcus Smart is so ass. Grizzles worst team in the league.
Jrule is 1,000 times better. Glad they were able to replace him in a second trade.
not even kidding, I would root for Smart to start hot in those Miami series just to see him keep taking shots from Tatum
Shoulda never fired bud
Sample sizes these small don't mean anything
two things are true:
-they're trying new defensive schemes and there's going to be missteps
-having dame and beasley as your backcourt heavily affects what kind of defensive schemes they can run
They seem really indecisive on defense. Like the players don’t know how to rotate or where they should be. Even with Dame and Beasley as the backcourt, you’d think they’d at least be decent defending the rim and grabbing boards with Brooke and Giannis.
They played the Pacers who have a 120+ ORTG for the season
Starting to think Griffin has no idea what the fuck he's doing
I haven't watched any Bucks games but to me the whole situation with Terry Stotts was a huge red flag. I know Terry left of his own free will but knowing the type of guy Terry is, its super concerning to me.
None of us know what really went down but the whole situation read to me like Griffin was struggling as a rookie HC with a team full of vets, and rather than welcoming the help of an experienced assistant and former head coach, he got insecure about his power as HC and pulled the "I'm the one in charge here" card which just made him look even worse.
Winning time season 2
lakers and bucks both plagued by shit coaches
It's just two games, dude. Couldn't you just wait a bit more to get a better sample size to suck Dame? Your beloved guard is the worst defender on that team.
Bucks downgraded from Bud.
Massive downgrade. Bud helped the bucks finish #1 in the regular season. You don’t fire someone that does that.
I disagree. Firing for example Dwyane Casey in Toronto despite his regular season success was the right call. Same with like Mark Jackson in Golden State. But the replacement might have been wrong that I can agreew with.
Bucks won a chip before that, not to mention Nurse was someone on our personnel when Casey was HC.
Sometimes it's time to just see the writing on the wall even if they won championships. He lost back to back two years in a row in embarrassing fashion and last year it was just really bad
Why run it back a third time in a row? If anything they should've hired a better coach
Or cavs with ty lue from David blatt. And I’d even say Vogel to ham to extent but that’s a bit less clear cut but it makes sense with Russ etc
talk your shit Blazer fans.
in reality the loss of jrue holiday is the biggest thing. Brook is not playing drop as much as he should, i mean ive seen Brook guarding the perimeter more in these 9 games that I saw all last year
maybe...just maybe...Adrian Griffin is a fuckin dumbass
lmao Ame Lillar is so bad he drags down the Bucks' defense even when he's not playing.
Them boys is ass
Missing out on Nick Nurse might've been the biggest fumble of any hopeful contender last offseason
If I remember correctly, Giannis wanted Griffin over Nurse.
And this is where management needs to step-in and fucking manage.
Yup, Bucks prob have to do everything they can to keep him happy, even if what he wants is not conducive to winning basketball. Thank god he didn’t want NN lol.
Imagine if he wants Thanasis as a dual player-coach next
This team has sky high expectations and aren't delivering as of the moment. If this trend continues, they are gonna have a hard time righting that ship
Dame is a shit defender this has always been known. It’s the gm and griffins fault for thinking Lopez and Giannis could hold up an entire defense
I mean... I know a lot of the louder people blame Dame specifically, but I think you also have to acknowledge that a lot of the concern about the Bucks defense also has to do with them also losing one of their perennial defensive pillars in Jrue.
People blame Dame because they don't want to admit Bud is a great coach. On the internet the only thing that matters is if you can make "magical adjustments" in the playoffs. Have good schemes that work every night and improving players every day apparently doesn't matter. Yes playing that human chess match in the playoffs is cool to make Youtube videos about and watch but ultimately you won't ever be in position to get to that point if you don't form good habits and consistency in the regular season.
Many teams have had good or great playoff runs after subpar/inconsistent regular seasons.
No team has won an NBA Title with less than 50 wins in the regular season since 1978. The Bucks want to win championships, not just "have a good playoff run".
You don't need to win a championship to be able to play "human chess" in the playoffs. And the number 50 is just a random number to begin with. Plenty of 50+ regular season wins teams had inconsistent regular seasons and plenty of teams with a worse record that beat "consistent" regular season teams with a better record. Last year being a good example of that.
This is so true not to mention you don’t instantly knew jerk make adjustments before you know if something doesn’t work or there’s a better option . This sub snd teams sub shit on 28/30 coaches : spo is like the only one immune in teams sub Reddit mostly .
Rookie coach doesn’t mean anything. He’s just a bad coach
I mean they put Thanasis in like the last 4 minutes of the game, need I say more
Maybe a mistake was made 👀
It’s the same type of defense the Raptors kept playing last year, switch heavy and aggressive defense that leaves a shitload of open corner 3’s. It maybe made some sense when they were playing without a real center, but they kept doing the same shit even after trading for Poeltl. This yeah the defense is so much better because you’re actually letting good defenders stay in front of their man without scrambling around switching everything. Scottie in particular looks way better defensively now that they aren’t switching him onto faster guards out on the perimeter every possession.
I know the Bucks have some poor defenders, but switching and scrambling around when you have Brook and Giannis to anchor the paint is so stupid. Asking Beasley to be your POA defender is braindead.
They traded their defensive talent.
If only they had a guy like Jrue Holiday.
It’s obviously not his fault purely, but he’s still a bad defender, and will only make this problem worse
But also who else do they have who can guard that well who doesn’t start?
This whole post is useless. All these same people claiming to have predicted the Bucks’ downfall will immediately reverse course when they inevitably go on a 12 game win streak at some point when they figure all of this stuff out.
Major roster change that is arguably a lateral move to begin with and a rookie head coach. Did you guys really think they would go 82-0?
Hiring a rookie coach, then making a humongous trade when trying to compete for a championship is lets just say… questionable.
