I feel like qbr AND passer rating are the best ways to judge a qb. Like if a qb was ever first in both, he’d probably be the next GOAT

[–] EternallyEuphoric@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I see what you did there

[–] notmoleliza@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Before - QBR and PR....im gonna go ahead and do my own research on that.

After looking at table - this data was put forth by people who are experts in their field

[–] PlatinumMode@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

maybe QBR is onto something because when I watch Russ he’s terrible. so many bad decisions that hurt his team. and then he ends up with 110 passer rating like wtf

[–] TheFlyingWriter@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I don’t know why, nor do I understand how, but Aiden O’Connell doesn’t pass the eye or metric test BUT the team has solidified around him and we’re feeling/playing better than we have in over a year.

Team play is weird like that.

Props for this compilation of data.

I know passer rating it outdated and imperfect, but when I look at the passer rating I at least have some semblance of the QB’s performance. QBR? I feel like it’s all over the place, head scratching, and rarely aligns to a QB’s quality.

As for PFF analytics, I like those when they make players on my team look good, but I don’t like them when they make players on my team look bad.

If you made this, serious props. Thank you for the data journalism.

Looks Purdy good

[–] JPAnalyst@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I wouldn’t subtract the two as they aren’t scaled the same. It’s not 1 to 1. A 75 QBR is not equal to a 75 passer rating. If you plot them on an x and y axis, that’s where you’ll have a better view of the players who are outliers as it relates to comparing these two metrics.

That ranking subtracting work great though.

Before we get some goof who says QBR is made up and they dont understand it: Its ESPNs version of EPA. It trys to do the same thing as EPA and generally the two list look very similar. Its also the most highly correlated (player) stat in the NFL with winning (followed by ANY/A).

Now you know what it is. Pay it forward to the next dude who says he doesnt know what QBR is.

this supports my agenda

Soo Brock is the best QB in the league? Thanks confirming my completely unbiased, totally-not-delusional opinion that Purdy is the greatest thing since Tom Brady

[–] Boukish@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He most certainly is somewhere in the top five greatest quarterbacks to have been picked between Tom Brady's 199th draft position and the last pick of a draft. (UDFAs excluded of course.)

I know that sounds like I'm shitting on your meme but that's actually not fuckin bad for a QB that's only 21 games into his career, considering.

Purdy haters on suicide watch

[–] Dfusion1983@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I enjoy this data

[–] LeadSledPoodle@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I think we need to plot both stats against ANYQ: Average of New York [Giants/Jets] QBs. The farther away a QB is in any stat, in any direction, the better.

[–] Airrows@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What in the random fucking order is this list?

[–] Temporary_Bliss@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I do love me some Purdy but he’s not the best QB in the league. Hopefully top 5 by the end of the year though ~~
