Noted defensive powerhouse,

checks notes

The Kansas City Chiefs

[–] Based_RNGesus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Does this adjust for points not actually given up by the defense? Like pick 6 or kick returns?

[–] Art-RJS@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yea I feel like the browns have won some games that are really high scoring by both teams

Cept Denver has like a top 5 defense now

[–] Brodie1567@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It was after half time against the Bears. Fields hung 28 in the first half & then it felt like we saw a different defense in the second. It’s been upward since then. Kudos to VJ.

The fact that our offense is dick, and our defense gives up this many yards really amplifies our record being an anomaly. I think most people assume we have an elite defense when its really just been Watt and Highsmith. Dashes of cam and minkah but both have missed time

[–] zPolaris43@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bend don’t break and splash

[–] AltecFuse@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We are the bend don’t break prototype

[–] Quavers88@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's an elite defense in the red zone and that's somehow enough.

I like the aesthetics of there being a pretty cut and dry top 5

[–] sgobern@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

These numbers are a fugazi thanks to the Bears and Jets, we are even more dog shit than it looks

[–] MordinSolusSTG@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Justin Herbert though

[–] OldKingClancy20@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yep. Those back to back games got everyone thinking our defense might actually be something but really just spray painted dogshit gold.

[–] blud_13@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Its nice to see the 3 Chargers fans in here collaborating..

[–] CoachMcGuirk_1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Our team motto: The Chewbacca Defense. It does not make sense.

[–] LeadSledPoodle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Call me crazy, but points against is a more important stat than yards against.

[–] Altruistic-Zone1664@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Points can be deceiving though. For example, the Ravens had 31 points against the Browns Sunday.

However, that doesn't properly describe the Browns defensive performance.

The Ravens only scored 17 points on actual offensive drives. 7 of those points came on a pick 6, and another TD came on a muffed punt that gave the ball to the Ravens all the way on the 11 yard line. Which, on a side note, shouldn't have even scored in the first place since the refs took a Lamar INT in the endzone off the board with a completely bs holding call on a 3rd down play.

Scoring matters in each game, but yardage can be a very good indicator of games going forward.

[–] anaveragedave@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Unlabeled dashed line, whatever you are, thank you for making me feel fkn stupid.

[–] meece2010@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

That Miami game really fucked up any stat I was hoping to enjoy

[–] formyamusementation@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

In all seriousness, I know that game absolutely sucked for the Broncos, but I think it was the turning point for the Broncos season. Being utterly humiliated like that had to be motivating. As a fan of the Chiefs, I wish it had been a normal beat down and not a near historic one. Maybe then, the Broncos would still be on the skid. Doubt it though. I hated the Broncos for a long time. I started feeling bad for you all last year.

BELIEVELAND

[–] chitownsports714@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How are the bears if you take out defense/st touchdowns against?

[–] AnthonyBarrHeHe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Seeing the Vikings just in the middle makes me so fucking happy lol worlds different than last season thank you baby Jesus

[–] Juicy_Joey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

[–] wellallmostly@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Jack Del Rio is just a big ol goober

[–] SevroAuShitTalker@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How does it look if you remove the dolphins game from the broncos?

[–] Juicy_Joey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Adjusted to taking the stats of the dolphins game, and replacing them with the season average of the other 8 games: here

[–] WelcometoCigarCity@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bowles with the bend but dont break defense.

[–] SRSgoblin@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What kind of sociopath sets up the graph axis this way? I'm looking at the top right thinking "gee I wonder who sucks" and I'm seeing all the best teams in the league.

It increases as you go left and down? Null is top right? What the shit.

[–] Juicy_Joey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Typically in sports analytics good is top right, bad is bottom left

[–] Zoidburger_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Maybe if we stopped turning the ball over on offense and giving up pick-6s our D would look a lil better 😭

[–] Chessh2036@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why can’t we ever have a decent defense and decent offense at the same time?

[–] FunInitiative1730@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How the hell is Pittsburgh winning.

[–] FaceRockerMD@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I've been waiting for this sweet sweet mediocre defense for years!

[–] TetrisTech@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Shoutout to Carolina giving up yardage around the same as defenses like San Fran, Baltimore, and Dallas while also giving up 27 PPG

[–] SDEexorect@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

reminder that 6 of our last 8 first round picks was defense.

[–] Habreno@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

WHAT THE HELL IS CLEVELAND DOING OVER THERE?

[–] dam0430@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We only let up 1 more PPG than Cleveland but let up like 150 more yards lol bend but don't break

[–] AnalWarfare@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Joe Woods is a football terrorist...

[–] MaeronTargaryen@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

WOOOOOO WE’RE AVERAGE!

[–] dicta85@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Where would Cleveland be without points scored by opposing defenses? I feel like the offense is good for giving up at least 7 a game on a pick six or fumble recovered for a TD.

[–] Otherwise_Awesome@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You have a graph like this for the Goffense?

[–] Juicy_Joey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’ll think about it

[–] wasdie639@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This graph would indicate we're better than 3-5.

[–] Juicy_Joey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Jordan Love stinks right now

[–] Hyper_red@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

New England would be one of the best defenses if all of the star players weren't out for the season and we had DBs (all out due to injury) Any chance of doing decent this year was based on the defense being elite but that went down the drawn when injury destroyed the defense.
