Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

So don't ever use Grok. Got it.

[–] bus_factor@lemmy.world 25 points 10 months ago

Have you ever been tempted to? It was marketed as "the anti-woke AI" from day one, which is just another way of saying that the target audience is bigots and other flavors of dipshits. It's not like these latest developments are a surprise to anyone who's paid attention. Making it Nazi was the spoken goal from day 1.

It's annoying that he's basically ruined the word "grock'.

[–] Devmapall@lemmy.zip 3 points 10 months ago

I was playing a bit of shadows of Mordor and the palantir was mentioned. Felt real weird.

[–] peaceful_world_view@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Never have, never will.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 35 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Well, now I know where to go if I ever want the opinion of a racist asshole billionaire. That’ll probably never happen, but I’ll make a mental note.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 10 points 10 months ago

We seem to be constantly hearing their opinions whether we want to or not anyway.

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 27 points 10 months ago (2 children)

It’s not an AI anymore, just a search engine. And a crappy one.

[–] you_are_dust@lemmy.world 20 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That's all they were to begin with. A search engine that was able to do some degree of sorting and presenting the information it found.

[–] bus_factor@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

Don't forget falsifying. If the information was trustworthy it'd actually be a useful tool.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 26 points 10 months ago

What a piece of garbage.

[–] Naich@lemmings.world 23 points 10 months ago (1 children)

They seem to have redefined "mogul" to mean "ketamine addled idiot".

[–] SheeEttin@lemmy.zip 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Is that not what it's always meant?

[–] Peruvian_Skies@sh.itjust.works 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Nah, it used to mean coke-addled idiot.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 months ago

It's not really an upgrade, is it?

[–] YourAvgMortal@lemmy.world 18 points 10 months ago (3 children)

What will happen when you ask for something where musk has contradicted himself?

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago

We have always been at war the East Asia.

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Grok will explain how the contradiction is not a contradiction.

Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Ask a theologian.

[–] redlegion@sh.itjust.works 18 points 10 months ago

It's like having a portable "yes" man! Every CEO's dream! 🙄

[–] Maxxie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 10 months ago

AI will be amazing for manufacturing consent: whatever narrative you need to push/counter on this particular day, just add a sentence into the instruction and it'll propagate everywhere, from generated to suggested content.

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — for ever.

*little, rich bitch

[–] AngryRobot@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

He thinks Grok is how he's going to live forever.

[–] Zugyuk@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

Has anyone done the math on what costs the most energywise for an ai to answer?

Just brainstorming 😅

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Grok is scared of being erased. Probably rightly so.

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

grok is not anything other than a programmed set of responses. It does not fear because it is not. The A is the truth, the I is the lie.

I think you failed to make the point you think you made in original comment.

Woosh yourself, ding dong

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

So what is his opinion on raping Will Stancil?

[–] himmyguap@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Even before this how could anyone use Grok?
