I am talking about a player that is not as bad as people make him out to be, or perhaps that is held to an unreasonable standard. Like, yo, that is our third string center, OF COURSE he's not going to be as good at (fill in the blank starter). A lot of times this is a star too of course. Or maybe it is a guy that is in fact good, but since he's getting paid X amount, then he gets hate because he's not prime MJ.

And as a bonus, who is the player that you think gets irrational support from this same fanbase?

These days any time Austin Reaves has a bad game, the hate bandwagon on here goes super hard.

And people will dunk on him for some Lakers fans calling him a future all star as if that’s personally Reaves’ fault.

I’d say it’s pretty obvious for us. But Towns. I’ll say some of it is probably deserved. But definitely not as much as he gets. KAT gets way too much hate. It’s better then it was a year or 2 ago but there’s still fans that as soon as he has a bad game or a few bad games they jump on the Trade KAT train and don’t look back.

Nobody for the Heat, at least on r/nba and r/heat, I stay out of twitter most of the time. But to answer your bonus question, I feel like Josh Richardson is getting irrational support ever since we signed him back. We all like him a lot and he's an awesome dude, but we need to objectively realize that his ceiling is average, not even above average.

Tobias Harris will never get over the fact we got him instead of butler

Grant and Bogey

Bogdanovic is now beloved, but in his first season here some ppl were mad at him for "forcing shots" and "stealing the ball from our rookies"

Now after this disaster season, people is realizing we need vets "stealing" possession from our Young core

Tobias Harris. Always under the radar never a diva attitude always puts numbers up in multiple categories and just does his job quietly. I feel he got a lot of hate due to the fact Doc Rivers was a trash coach and didn’t know how to utilize him correctly and never called plays for him. Under Nick Nurse he’s definitely a big part of why we got off to a hot start this season.

Harrison Barnes. Not that all of it is unwarranted but the matter-of-fact nature where people are like "we should trade HB for a better starter who doesn't complain about guarding bigger players, is an elite 3pt shooter and doesn't mind being the 4th or 5th option on offense" like this archetype just grows on trees is pretty wild.

D’Angelo russel for sure

Luke Kornet. Literally what you said there, he's a third-stringer being treated like he's a backup. He comes in for ten minutes a game, plays solid positional defense, and gets like four points off of lobs or putbacks. It's not flashy, but it gets the job done well enough. Would I complain about an upgrade? Nah, but it's not a big deal, either.

Anthony Davis. When the Lakers win LeBron gets praise, when they lose AD gets blamed.

The old warriors answer used to be Damion Lee. He’s a perfect example of a guy who is the 14th man on the roster but was often asked to do too much. Last year the answer was probably JaMychal Green. Not his fault Warriors decided they didn’t need bigs and he’d have to play key minutes.
