His first 3-4 games were really bad pulling down his averages but he's really picked it up.

Hes also 9th in steals per game. Hes still obviously a negative defender but he's been putting in a lot more effort on the defensive end.

You're welcome. If your star player has been having a rough offensive start to the season, please have them call Dr Pacers. They'll cure all of your offensive ills in just 48 minutes! Side effects may include, tanking your defensive rating or heart palpitations from constant scoring swings.

What other players has the pacers helped out lmao

[–] FOTASAL@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Siakam just very recently

[–] AccomplishedFront563@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Magic and Raptors had good offensive nights, and Gordon Hayward had a night.

[–] bales75@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Giannis scored 54 (a season high, and 1 pt away from career high) and Maxey put up a career high 50 pts, to name a few.

[–] Organic-Manner-2969@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

didn’t even realize it was against them lmao

[–] MySabonerRunsOladipo@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

4 teams have scored 150+ this year.

Two of them were the Pacers

The other two were against the Pacers.

There was actually a defensive metric posted on this sub a few days ago that showed

[–] Projinator@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Surprisingly average defense too

[–] CraigMammalton14@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

He’s quietly improved a ton the last 2 years. If he had the size of other bad defensive guards like Luka / Hali I have 0 doubt he would be a clearly better defender than them.

[–] Public-Product-1503@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Yeah same , been impressed with trae as a lakers fan so no bias. I wanted him to go the cp3 route n add some mass but maybe he’s worried bout shot mechanics being effected. Trae has fast hands and nimble feet mske him better on d then expected

[–] CraigMammalton14@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I’m right there with ya. I think the next step is adding mass and conditioning to make up for size like what Steph did. Crazy strength and conditioning can make up for like 4 inches

[–] External876@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

He's gonna have to get bigger and stronger and go down that route eventually, if he wants to play until his mid-late 30's.

[–] LittleFatMax@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

It's the effort. He actually is at least putting in work on that end of the floor now and doesn't completely give up when encountering a screen. Due to his physical limitations he'll never be a good defender but he seems more active in the lanes and is locked in which is all you can ask.

[–] basher505@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'd still rather have Luka.

[–] punching-bag9018@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Oh wow, you would have rather have the MVP calibre player? Hot take bro.

[–] basher505@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

So you agree.

[–] kr1saw@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Also 2-3 in the last games.

[–] BAHatesToFly@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hawks only 2-3 in those games with one of the wins against Detroit and the other against Brooklyn. Team must be letting him down, especially their defense. Gave up 145 to Brooklyn (one OT) a game after giving up 157 (no OT) against the Pacers. Their pace of play seems to push up scoring, but damn that's a lot of points to give up.

[–] ProvocativeHotTakes@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Trae sat out that pistons game so it doesn’t count. They been 1-4 in the last 5 games he played

[–] Empayde@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

We have an entirely new scheme. That's why our defence sucks

[–] Street-Common-4023@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hawks defense sucks tho for some reason

[–] CraigMammalton14@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I starts with D and ends with eAndre Hunter

[–] DoctaChillin@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Blaming all our defensive struggles on one guy is next-level hating

[–] mathman651@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I thought he was a good defender?

[–] porncollecter69@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

He’s always been like this. Starts off like he woke up from a coma and then slowly becomes his all star self.

[–] No_Engineering_4925@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Even a five game stretch playing the pacers he looks mid. Helpless lollipop

[–] ObiOneKenobae@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Why isn't it translating to team success?

[–] Prestig33@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Why post this when LaMelo has had the better ppg since November 15th though?

[–] Large_Mango@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Trae young’s opposition PG have the exact same stats. Defense is a thing

Trae is nowhere near the worst defender in the league anymore. Still below average, but not even close to the worst.

He's easily better than Dame, Hali, Brunson, and Ja defensively right now.

I'm lowkey hoping you disagree cuz you'd just paint yourself as a casual lmao. Flair up and actually watch a game mf.

[–] Ajaxx42@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

All the Knicks flairs in here are so telling lmfao

[–] DoctaChillin@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

They really hate this guy lmfao

[–] Ajaxx42@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Just living in their heads rent-free

[–] Jozif_Badmon@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That shit was 2 years ago they gotta let it go

[–] samurairocketshark@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Nah fuck that we need more rivalries. I need a Knicks-Hawks first round series too

[–] FadeawayFas@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Overrated, overpaid, and will never be good enough to be the best player on a title team.

[–] Maydietoday@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It’s hilarious (and sad) how hard it is to get a positive Trae Young post to the front page.

[–] honestnbafan@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I'm not even sure why he's so hated lol

I guess his whole playstyle is basically constructed in a lab to annoy "oldheads" but you wouldn't think there are that many oldheads on Reddit

[–] Ticonderoga2HB@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

He’s been putting more effort in defensively since last season, im glad he’s had some more efficient games lately

[–] ComfortableDino@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

63%ts and 44% from the field LOL

[–] mamba-pear@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

It’s not out of the realm for him to average these numbers over the course of a season.

Once he figures out how to be consistent, he’ll be one top 15 player away from competing in the East for a trip to the Finals.

[–] montiel_scores@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

LaMelo’s last 5 games stat: “Who cares, it’s 5 games, this doesn’t tell us anything. Wow, you guys love to overrate LaMelo, cherry-picking stats”

Trae’s last 5 games stat: “He’s back boys”
