I thought that was interesting. Obviously Chet has been more impactful but I didn't realize there was that much difference between the two in terms of +/-.

Rookie of the year ??

[–] eanregguht@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Makes sense. San Antonio gets blown out like crazy.

[–] __boobs4life__@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Op is pushing chet being better than wemby so hard , yes he’s currently better but what does +- have to do with it , chet plays with a 1st team all nba guard and several above average players , wemby has vassell and that’s about it , i get the comparisons but some people are weird about it lmao

[–] Timely_Airline_7168@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Ok who cares? It's so early in the season and the teams they're in aren't even comparable.

yes spurs fan or thunders fan we get it stop being an annoying fuck

[–] StoneColdReaveAustin@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (4 children)

Seriously no other ROTY race has been this annoying and it ain’t even christmas

[–] captain_ahabb@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

People seem to think the award is being given out next week

[–] bandwagonguy83@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

You forgot Simmons vs. Mitchell? Until Chet and Wemby start taking shots at each other, we are not there.

[–] Passerbycasual@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Weren’t those guys fucking with the media?

[–] TheCalvinator@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I feel like they at least waited until the all star break. We're not even a quarter through the season.

[–] Particular_Ad_9531@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

This is purely the media trying to create a narrative because everybody knows that barring some catastrophic injury ROTY is going to wemby but there needs to be the appearance of a race so they’ve got something to talk about as nauseam

I mean it is true that Spurs suck and OKC rocks, but since when did people care about that lol.

In 2003-04, the best score among rookies was Josh Howard (tbh probably the only rookie that season who was kinda winning in any way). LeBron was close to the bottom.

Last season, the winningest rookie was Christian Koloko, with a ridiculous +9 per 100 net rating in his bench episodes for average Raptors. He actually led all rookies in total score by a lot, even though he played like 13 minutes a game lol. I don't think I've ever seen him mentioned.

I think scores are interesting personally, it's the goal of the game after all (for some), but since when did anybody else care that much lol.

RemindMe! 4 years

[–] xElectricW@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (3 children)

One of them plays with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the other one plays with "Jeremy Sochan" lmao

[–] waynequit@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

chet's net rating is actually better with shai off the court.

[–] 420SMOKERGANG@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

You mean wannabe dennis rodman

[–] here_for_the_lols@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Sochan copping more strays this season than anyone lol

[–] SeeingThings123@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Not even his fault either. Pop has a Dennis Rodman-archetype running point lmao

[–] ESLsucks@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I think Chet has obviously been better, but +/- is a team stat not an individual stat.

[–] sharklavapit@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

this sub should get back to TS% only analysis

[–] Charliebitme1234@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

OKC about to become insufferable in a month or two

[–] browndude10@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago
[–] here_for_the_lols@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Nah were already sick of this debate let the giraffes at each other

[–] Ilikesporks_@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

the guy on the good team has a better team statistic than the guy on the bad team?? no way!

[–] figgnootun@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

The thunder are 2.6 points per 100 possessions better when Chet is on the floor vs when he is off. The spurs are 5.5 points per 100 possessions better when Victor is on the floor vs when he is off.

Chet is already a great player and contributing to winning basketball as the second best player on a playoff team with great offball skills, good defense, and flashes of primary creation. He’s still less important to the thunder than Wemby is to the spurs.

Again Chet’s been the significantly better shooter and more polished player and had a huge impact on the thunder but they are an all around good team. The spurs without Wemby on the floor are barely an nba team getting outscored by around 16 points per 100 when he’s not playing.

[–] OguguasVeryOwn@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Came here looking for this comment. Far better to compare individual impact to net rating when their overall teams are so diametrically opposite.

[–] Friendly-Thought-973@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Those on/off splits aren’t true when you use Cleaning the Glass which adjusts for garbage time.

But I’m sick of this argument it’s the same talking points over and over again.

[–] madhare09@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Bro half our games are garbage time. I don't see how you can't include garbage time in any spurs players stats lol. You'd have Vic with 15 mins a game.

[–] LoWE11053211@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

This is just unfair

I have the +/- of 0

Am I better than wemby?

[–] Inevitable-Paint-650@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Omg the next Jokic vs Embiid (in terms of toxicity of the fans)

[–] Alex_O7@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Lol you find interesting that a guy playing for the n.2 team in the conference has a much higher total +/- than the guy playing for the worst team in the conference???

Lol tell me you are a nephew without telling me.

[–] SeeingThings123@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Atp I’m hoping Ausar Thompson wins ROTY

[–] Single_Passenger@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Using +/- of a player playing for a winning team vs. losing team without context, like a complete nephew. Exchange Victor and chet on these teams, and these stats will reverse.

[–] Directionerection@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

If you swapped them it would be similar. The spurs roster is hilariously terrible

[–] 300_yard_drives@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Put Chet on SAS and Wemby on OKC and I bet the narrative is flipped

[–] Advanced-Ad-8696@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Agreed. SAS would be a much better team with Chet, and OKC would have more losses with Wemby for sure.

[–] AaronRodgersToe@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Doubt it. Chet would still have the advantage of a year under his belt. If they were both legit first year rookies I bet Chet’s numbers would look a lot more like wemby.

[–] Dar8_Vader@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Tbf imho Chet keeping up might just win him the ROTY
