Funny how Americans were harping how their guns protect them from a tyrannical government and now that the government is tyrannical it's all crickets.

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 58 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The loudest ones are the ones who support this garbage. Please keep that in mind.

[–] BlackArtist@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Nah the loudest ones are the pussies

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago

The Venn diagram on that is almost a circle

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

Yup. Guns are often owned by the most fearful. Some have good reason, but most are just idiots... Hense gun violence.

Since they are so prevalent, there's a good reason to own one in many locations and career paths here. But yeah, it's a mess.

[–] cyborganism@piefed.ca 30 points 1 month ago

Because those same who were loud about their 2nd amendment rights are the ones enforcing this. Not the other way around.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 27 points 1 month ago

Besides from pointing out that the guns-are-my-identity people are all ultra-conservative, consider that any violent resistance being planned would not be broadcast.

OPSEC is a thing y'all need to remember that.

Those were the people stockpiling weapons as a threatening signal to the "undesirables" to stay in their place.

Also, some of those stockpiling weapons and talking about "freedom" get rock-hard over the idea of being deputized by a fascist government so they could do their worst on the "undesirables".

They don't give a fuuuuck about liberty, freedom or any of the litany of other bullshit they and other conservatives have been going on about for decades. None of that is real.

Personal examples: I can name several such people, some of whom are in the United States National Guard, one of whom specifically was interviewed by Newsweek for being one of the jackboots who cleared Lafayette Square so Asset Krasnov could hold a Bible upside down. I grew up with the asshole. He was on record blubbering about how hard it was on the Guard to be being fascist (not his exact words, but the gist of it). He's also all over Facebook spouting some of the most hateful rhetoric you'll see outside Stormfront.

I used to try to get thoughts across to him, to see his point of view and help him see mine. Then I realized it is utterly futile to try with him and people like him, as they only use words as a means of deception rather than communication.

Get ready to be shocked

"Americans" refers to 300 million human individuals.

[–] Qwaffle_waffle@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I guess that was relevant somehow? Just tired of smarmy non-Americans think they're automatically smarter than all Americans and then going on the internet and proving otherwise.

[–] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

But the tyrant plays for their team, so it's all good!

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

They have “we the people” flags hanging in their backyards. It makes them feel safe while they bbq.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 52 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Thankfully, MJ gets the headline right here. Way too many milquetoast outfits calling this a "crackdown" implies there is even a shred of legitimacy to what Taco is doing here.

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Crackdown is the wrong term because it implies there's something that needs to be addressed.

I'm not sure if "invasion" is right either. Closer, but it's troops on their home territory, so invasion seems inaccurate too.

Maybe occupation?

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

No, just mindlessly repeating things doesn't make it true.

[–] fittedsyllabi@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago

Russia is finally invading the United States via Trump. And the US doesn’t even realize it.

[–] 0li0li@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Do it. Invade all major cities and get people pissed of to the point where militia and that precious right to bare arms become useful.

[–] Thekingoflorda@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I hope you are right and people will stand up for their rights, but… I’m skeptical.

[–] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 month ago

In the timeless words of Winston Churchill, "You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else."

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 6 points 1 month ago

Mmmmm. I believe they will. We don't have nearly enough learned helplessness to bend over and take it.

DC isn't any of the cities he's threatening. And if you look at DC, they aren't being quiet about this either.

[–] 0li0li@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Hope I'm right too thb...

The more pressure, the more likely. Otherwise, parents will leave their kids in a world that is not worth anything good. Pain and suffering, not much else.

[–] metallic_substance@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Yo... A lot of those gun toting assholes want this

[–] 0li0li@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Until they don't...

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Lol.

No. They think they do. Nobody who is actually familiar with it does.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

”Whaddya gunna do ‘bout it?”, he added.

[–] Vanilla_PuddinFudge@infosec.pub 12 points 1 month ago

Average person: "Yeah right, take off the tinfoil hat man, that'll never happen!"

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago

These are basically drills for when the breakdown in society really starts

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

This is not a threat this will happen we all need to be prepared and ready to defend ourselves and what we believe in.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Bring it. Spread those resources thin.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 month ago

Remember: THIS WAS ALL AVOIDABLE.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

“The revolution will be bloodless if the left allows it to be.”

Congratulations, US “left.” You’re allowing it to be.

[–] pomfegranate@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

Hawaii invasion part 2?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

blanketing the news from discussing you know what that doesnt wanted released.

You mean the Epstein files?!?!

[–] MarriedCavelady50@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago (5 children)

Do troops get paid more at least during these operations?

[–] ServeTheBeam@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] dissentiate@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

You mean hamberders, yes?

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 5 points 1 month ago

Apparently, NG units tend to be deployed for about 29 days then removed. Day 30 is when they get a pay increase. I can't imagine that instilling much loyalty towards the regime in these soldiers, when the football keeps being pulled away.

[–] overthere@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

Yes, but it’s all in $Trump

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 month ago

no, i heard they dont do more than 30days (deploying to a city)so they dont need to pay the troops extra pay.

[–] metallic_substance@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

THAT'S what you're worried about!?
