Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

The Supreme Court could eventually rule on whether her firing is legal.

She is toast, the supreme court is rigged to serve Trump.

[–] bobs_monkey@lemmy.zip 35 points 10 months ago (1 children)

More importantly, this will serve as a major test to the Fed's independence.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 29 points 10 months ago (1 children)

If the supreme court decides, I wouldn't count on that independence lasting for much longer.
It will probably serve the crazy Republican president as it was designed by Mitch "The Turtle" McConnell.

The institutions are falling like dominoes, it's looking really really grim for democracy in USA.

How about the Epstein Files TACO?

It's unthinkable, as this would be the final nail in the coffin of USD being the world's primary reserve currency, and with it the debt breaks the country and the ability to print money is instantly ended.

These are not bad things, if done thoughtfully and intelligently over time. This administration is incapable of that.

He will chicken out, but the damage is done to the faith in the US government by our allies, and in the USD.

I don't think you realize the wealth it has given USA to be the #1 global reserve currency by far.
It's a giant economic interest free injection to the entire US economy.

I also don't think it's unthinkable, I think they could very well do it, because that's how stupid they are. The USD is down 15% since Trump became President, And Trump wants it to fall even more, because he thinks it gives USA a competitive advantage. Completely disregarding it makes everybody poorer first and increases inflation.

Yes, but also Trump has all his money in shitty crypto tokens and the Crypto Bros have him convinced that if the dollar tanks, $TRUMP will soar vs. the dollar.

Our President is looking to actively tank the dollar for his own personal gain.

Lol, it's not just her saying it, as if it's some disagreement. He has no authority to fire her.

[–] lostlittletimeonthis@lemmynsfw.com 5 points 10 months ago

I'm sure a couple of masked agents blocking her entrance will not show up any time at all

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 36 points 10 months ago (1 children)

"Sufficient reason to believe" - Either you have real evidence, or you are just hallucinating again. Most likely the latter.

Authoritarianism is all about "because I said so."

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago

Fascists pray to their fascist god that the people they are attempting to oppress won't push back.

So push back.

Might be the most misleading graph I've ever seen and the quality makes it difficult to even realize it's a terrible graph.

[–] assaultpotato@sh.itjust.works 26 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Drops 20 cents of 146 against JPY, currency must be kill

I honestly do expect this path leads to dedollarization in the long run but truly an absurd graph to make that claim lmao

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

This should still be sounding alarm bells, tho, shouldn't it? Are these kinds of spikes common in any other scenario?

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

It's such a small amount I'd be shocked if it never happened before.

[–] lemming741@lemmy.world 18 points 10 months ago

Default scaling- it was a smaller drop than others in the last 5 days, and came right back immediately.

[–] Mobiuthuselah@mander.xyz 33 points 10 months ago

Scales are important. You can make anything look extreme by manipulating the x or y axis.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 30 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That's the worst screenshot of a graph ever. That could be the price of potatos in pesos dropping by 1 cent for all I can tell.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago
[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 9 points 10 months ago

That’s about a half a percentage change. Fuck off with this disingenuous graph.
