Guy has no fight to him. He just goes through the motions

[–] TorePun@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Alex Fudge got minutes. That's all you need to know.

[–] djb447@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Mavs should trade for him. Jaden Hardy and a pick swap for Cade

[–] xBerryhill@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I don’t think Cade is a bust by any means yet but it’s disheartening seeing him not be as good as we all thought he’d be. It may just be this roster, coaching staff, or ownership but he’s not the can’t-miss prospect we all thought he was in his current state.

[–] Gatorpep@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He isn’t a bust but clearly not, ‘that dude’ caliber. Look like he might already be giving up on detroit and looking for a way out too.

[–] syllabic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

it would be shocking if he didn't sign a rookie max extension with detroit

he would be leaving tens of millions on the table, possibly more if no other team wants to give him a regular max

[–] Left_Variety_8077@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You're making the assumption that he's even worth the rookie max extension

Pistons would be stupid to give injury prone slow ass cade a max lol

[–] d7h7n@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Detroit will let him go into RFA and match whatever. Of course Cade will be arguing for the max extension 4+1 this summer. Other teams can only offer less money and a 3+1 no way their shitty owner doesn't want to save money.

[–] Immediate_Candidate5@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cade Cunningham and Trevor Walker, 2 of the most forgettable recent number 1 pick

[–] Dymatizeee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Which longer room is worst : bulls or pistons

[–] GGMaXThreeOne@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Since Detroit isn't playing for anything important this season, why not go for legendary status

Be the worst team in NBA history

[–] Slippinjimmyforever@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Over half way to the legendary 28 loss streak set by Philly.

[–] Gent313@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

For any nba fans that are upset or unhappy with their team. Just be happy you aren’t a pistons fan and don’t have to watch constant garbage.

[–] HoyaDestroya33@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That Monty contract is looking really bad right now.

[–] DeadCellsTop5@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

At least you have championships. Lots of teams in the NBA have won nothing and still suck.

[–] hgeyer99@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I went to the finals in 04 they got me for life dude

[–] boringexplanation@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I know there was a loud minority on /r/kings that wished we bottomed out like you guys did during our 16 year non-playoff streak. Feeling pretty vindicated about that.

[–] Xeris@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

wtf happened to Cade, lol. dude was so promising.

[–] MVPPB5@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Remember when piston fans swore they had a better young core than the thunder and magic lol

[–] sunsetbo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

i think he’s still solid but he’s had enough time to show that superstar potential and all he’s shown is that he isn’t really a guy who should be a handling the ball all game and taking 20+ shots a game. i think he can still end up being all star level just as a B or C guy and most likely next to another point guard.

[–] mr-frankfuckfafree@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

player had bad game

scintillating.

[–] augustcero@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Coach:

That's not what I meant when I said you got the talent to go 15 for 15

[–] Iusuallywearglasses@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I remember being sad that we lost the Cade sweepstakes.

I’m still sad we got the pedo, though.

[–] DiscardedRonaldo2017@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Damn Cade getting shit on. TBF he hasn’t reached the heights I thought he would yet, but hasn’t been able to string one full season together yet and it’s basically his second year.

When Pistons are the worst spacing team in the last 10 years and Cade has strung together a season then I’ll be a bit more harsh on the criticism. Until then I just find it weird that he can be called the best player at team USA practices but not be able to translate much of that to the NBA court yet. Don’t get me wrong, 22 and 7 is awesome but it is a bit underwhelming for a potential franchise changing superstar .

Let’s check back in at the end of the year

[–] d7h7n@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Best player in practice. You know what else happened in practice? Detroit diving for loose balls. Practice doesn't mean shit. Michael Beasley probably looks like Carmelo in practice.

[–] NCKWN@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

22 and 7 sounds good on the surface but it’s supported by ass TS%, horrid AST/TO, and only there because of Cade’s 30% usage

[–] clocke6346@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I bet this guy feels like an idiot right now

[–] BitterJD@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I don't think this team can be viable as constructed, even if you replaced Monty with a modern coach with a brain. That being said, I question the logic of how they play even as constructed. Their win condition is basically emulating the Grit and Grind Grizzlies. Instead, they shot MORE threes than the Lakers. If the goal is to be competitive, you should play to your strengths, not force a three ball meta.

My biggest issue with the team is Cade's utilization. He's a 6ft 7 point guard... he should be forcing awkward post ups and absolutely living at the free throw line. Maybe that's not his game, but what's the point of being a big floor general if you can't body smaller defenders?

[–] d7h7n@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He can back up smaller guards the problem is that his decision making is poor.

[–] damnwesuck@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He shouldn’t be a point guard. That’s one of the big issues. Secondary ball handler, yes. 30% usage guy? Absolutely not

[–] NicholasLatifi22720@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Idk are the spurs even any better?

[–] great-nba-comment@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Honestly, it’s a hard pill to swallow, but this mf really just isn’t that good.

He’s not bad by any means, but we’re expecting way too much from him and he’s getting exposed.

He is doing literally nothing but pass at a decent level this year, and even the he’s assisting at only like a 2:1 turnover rate.

His offense is pretty laughable apart from the occasional run. His defense is objectively gross, he doesn’t even put effort in. His off-ball movement doesn’t exist. Like literally, I’ve never seen him cut.

Still don’t know why he was so highly touted.

[–] realfakejames@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why does the Pistons franchise even exist besides to ruin lottery picks who had potential, im so sick of these poorly run orgs man

[–] HipGranny420@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Luka Garza would be feasting on this team if they held on to him.

[–] Middle-Welder3931@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's probable that Cade looks much better on 29 other teams. Seems like this lineup is designed to magnify his weaknesses and completely hide his strengths. Worst possible landing spot for him.

[–] sarmatron@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

why does this sub love shitting on young players so much? like I get it when they're cocky or a dick to fans or a child molester or something, but why this urge to shit on players like Cade who are just regular dudes trying their best and just not having it work out very well for them?

[–] dizzymidget44@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

LeSigh. I miss Chauncey, Rip, Tay, Ben and Sheed

[–] crashcap@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Maybe they shouldn’t be jumping on loose balls in practice

[–] alexander_es@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Im a lifelong pistons fan so not trying to be a hater but Cade seriously gives me similar vibes to Towlie from south park

[–] edog050@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] TdotSkunt@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

#Scottie Barns

[–] desirox@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cade is one of the weaker #1 picks in recent history. Pistons don’t have a lot to show for a LONG time of sucking

[–] Level_Ad3808@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I never envisioned Cade as the guy dribbling into traffic to take a tough, contested layup over a good defender. I always imagined him as a guy who just scores in the flow of the offense. He was an enticing prospect because of all the boxes he checked: size in the backcourt, playmaking, leadership, shooting, ballhandling, etc. The only thing disappointing is his shooting - which is a big problem.

He was supposed to be the type of guy that would attract free agents because of his floor-raising abilities. He is not being used as intended. Maybe it will just take time and this is all just a part of putting him through trials to stimulate growth.

It's probably deflating for the whole team to just be dribbling into the lane to kick-out to someone who won't shoot the ball or take a tough layup or mid-range against traffic. How are you supposed to play hard when you get zero quality shots on the offensive end?

[–] Frankiedrunkie@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I know pistons are bad but what’s going on with him?

[–] Artimusjones88@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's number 1, he's number 1!

[–] Slippinjimmyforever@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cade looks checked out. He makes lazy passes and just looks slower and less engaged than in his rookie system.

The whole “he is him” rhetoric after the first three games of the season has long passed and many now believe he’s probably a number 2 or 3 on a team trying to win meaningful games in the post season.
