This is perfect because at first glance you'd think wow that's a heavy cat, it broke the roof!

In reality though it's a normal weight cat that has been traveling through space at 40,000mph and rocketed through the atmosphere crashing into the roof. A meowteor...

Ok I'll see myself out

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 42 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That would be catastrophic.

So I have a friend who's a gastroenterologist. They have animal butt artwork on all the walls it's so wonderfully dorky. The employee of the month gets the cat ass trophy (it's more of a plaque) at their desk for the whole month. I say, if your doctor doesn't have at least that good a sense of humor, you have multiple problems

I have a feline we would be fine.

[–] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 22 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That would be impawsible to survive for anything but a cat.

And a cat could only survive it 8 times.

Cats already like heat, but on entering the atmosphere they convert to their liquid form and their heat capacity increases greatly! Since they're now liquid the impact doesn't affect them as much either! Cats really are amazing.

Research suggests that cats are already liquid at room temperature, earning the researcher a well deserved Ig Nobel prize.

This isn't even a joke...

One of my favorite Wikipedia articles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_righting_reflex

I would argue, that the reason why the cat choose this spot is partially because it is the deepest spot, eliminating the uncomfortable slope it would have if it sat 1 meter to the right. Thus there is a causation, the roof shape causes the cat to sit at this spot.

[–] lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 2 days ago

The causation could also be that the cat jumped from below and therefore the lowest point is the easiest to reach

[–] m532@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 days ago

Or the cat is liquid and fluided towards at the lowest point

Ohohoho is funny because it's impossible for the cat to be so heavy that it would cause structural damage ohohoho

Garfield needs to go on another diet

[–] SapphironZA@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago

He might not have caused it, but he sure is claiming to have.

I like the caption for this of "How to spot the poly morphed dragon"

[–] Thordros@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

I'm pretty sure that roof is corrugated, not correlated.

[–] Deconceptualist@leminal.space 8 points 2 days ago

There was previously a boulder in that spot, but the cat pushed it off the ledge.

Queue the music

[–] YaDownWitCPP@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

That cat's still responsible for this some how.

[–] 667@lemmy.radio 8 points 2 days ago

It’s a Neutron Cat.

[–] booty@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

False, that fatass fuckin cat definitely caused that dent

[–] prex@aussie.zone 1 points 2 days ago

Caused it by distracting the driver who backed into the post.
The cat is presiding over his achievement.

[–] cobysev@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

That's definitely a dragon in disguise. Looks like a cat to mortal eyes, but weights a helluva lot more.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bullshit, cats can increase their mass at will

[–] Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago

I agree, my source? Every time I try to lift a cat off of my lap or off of a surface they're not supposed to be on.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

Can I have a few more pixels with that?

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Dense Cat will destroy us all!
