The car involved in the crash, a Maserati Quattroporte, was found abandoned a few blocks away at Mammoth Avenue and Milbank Street. It did not have license plates.

Because there are definitely enough Maserati Quattroporte around that removing license plate makes it impossible to locate the owner, right?

Am I doing the math wrong? If he was 80 years old, he was born in 1946. VE day was in 1945. How could he be a Holocaust survivor?

He probably hadn't had his birthday yet this year. His mother may have had him shortly before VE day, in one of the death camps.

Edit: reading the article, he may have been a Holodomor survivor?

That’s what it sounds like. I have heard people call the holodomor the Ukrainian holocaust, IIRC.

Wish I knew more about his holocaust experience. 80-years really pushes the limits for claiming direct experience/survival, but I’m sure he would have grown up in the after effects…
