That's dumb.
Star Wars Memes
Hello there. Somehow, Star Wars memes have returned. It's not a trap, this is where the fun begins.

Other universes to visit:
Separatist systems:
Oh hey some real SW content for a change (perhaps):

Please do not post the "good friend" or similar copypasta

Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.
The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:
-
This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.
-
We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.
-
As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!
-
Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.
-
Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).
-
Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.
-
Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.
Wouldn’t you die of starvation/dehydration long before being digested, leaving no conciousness to absorb?
The absorbtion process provides food and water, you're essentially part of the beasts body tissue.
Yeah, even with plenty of water and food I'll still be ded within a few decades
Impossibly ancient sith Lord spending millennia using the force to escape a sarlacc and arriving just as the empire falls and the new republic is trying to start would have been so much better than "somehow... Palpatine returned"
Could even tie in to other lore like Boba Fett's escape, but nope. Clones again
Genuinely considered Boba Fett's escape being the catalyst that sets the guy free. Could even retcon in that the only reason either worked was because of the other. Boba fett's bombs could only weaken it because of the psychic battle it was already in, sith guy won the psychic battle because the sarlacc was distracted by the bombs.
Could even capitalize on book of Boba fett by having fett play a reluctant hero role for the new cast, informing them of the sith guy's plans because they were both connected through the sarlacc so there was some bleed over.
IMO Boba's escape precludes the sarlacc from being able to contain a sith lord.
All canon/noncanon stories essentially have Boba blowing his way out with thermal detonators and/or subsequently being spat out.
I feel like the only reason that method of escape wouldn't be common knowledge is because of how rare sarlaccs are to begin with.
@Canconda @mushroommunk Also probably how infrequently people are thrown in WITH thermal detonators :P
I guess the real question is how well known is this escape method? Obviously not everyone eaten by a sarlacc was a disarmed prisoner. So like is Boba just the first one to try?
Apparently his jet pack explodes as well as the grenades. So maybe that extra boom is required??
Why don't the explosions kill him
Bruh 100%. I'm guessing his armour?
So like there's effectively 3 versions of him escaping.
-
He's just spat out for no explained reason (Star Wars magazine 1983)
-
He uses telepathy with the other trapped souls, his jet pack explodes plus he uses grenades to escape. (Legends)
-
BOBF he steals a convenient stormtroopers O2 and cuts/burns his way out, no grenades (I didn't watch the show tbh). He loses his helmet through this process somehow tho.
So much better than "somehow palpatine returned" huh? Insert, Do you know how little that narrows it down meme
I didn't see the movie and for years I though it was a meme. An absurd one, too dumb to even be really funny.
After last Jedi, I decided to wait for reviews. Never ended up watching Rise and just read the silly synopsis instead
Fuck, i love this so much as an idea, or what if the Sith Lord's consciousness became dominant rather than merged. The only problem is that Boba Fett cut himself out of one with some armor shards and hatred. An ancient sith lord could probably wear one as a hat.
Extra idea, Sith Lord's consciousness has been waiting for a perfect force sensitive victim to fall in, so they can transfer to that body, Naruto style.
If they're in the same sarlacc, maybe Boba only managed it because the sarlacc was currently weakened by the psychic battle with the sith lord. Who in turn capitalizes on the distraction caused by Boba to then escape himself.
That's a very star wars, I love it. The galaxy is a small world vibe.
The people actually going to see Star Wars movies nowadays don't know what the fuck a sarlacc is. They are there because: Han Solo, Wookie, Jedi, ICONIC!
The start of Return of the Jedi? The sand vagina with teeth.
40k?
Warhammer 40,000
The tech to film at that resolution doesn't exist, and even if it did we don't have any devices capable of playback at such high resolution. You're way past diminishing returns, why do yiu think there's no 8K widespread yet??
Took me a moment
That's my secret. I'm already part of a hivemind
Is that canon?
Legends
I figured as much. Thank you!
They're called tyranids. They're in 40k ... They literally consume whole planets and take things from the genetic code of the various species they've made contact with. They're a hive mind entity.
Sure, it's no pit in the ground eating someone for a stupid long time but it's pretty close.
This thing (lavos, Chrono trigger)
I mean don't rippers consume organic matter then throw themselves into reclamation pools? Its still a pit in the ground, just much faster and much much more violent.
Because it was a Dune reference.
If it was 40k, as the sarlac consumed more souls it would gain the ability to manipulate people into feeding it more with increased power. It would also be capable of growing to the point it could consume planets.
Is that some baby Sarlacc budding off?
No, that's the male Sarlacc. They're kinda like anglerfish.
Reminds me of the Mystery Flesh Pit. He probably got his inspiration from the sarlac come to think of it.
How well would Leviathans from Star Wars fit in 40k?
Somwthing like this was in a 40k book i dont remember the name of, except it was a tree. It used the psychic anguish of this to "call for help" to other humans, thus drawing more in.
They bombed it from orbit iirc
Tell me if you remember what it was
This seems like a cruel fate for innocent womp-rats.
Wait what happens if it absorbs a Jedi
Well, seeing how Luke had to jump around and escape, we'll never know.
