Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

He's still mad about his "look" in the men's hockey locker room thinking "Holy Jesus! Even I think I look like a desperate wannabe".

Sounds an awful lot like they’re leaving the backdoor unlocked and unsupervised, knowing someone is going to try something, which they’ll then turn around and use as justification for fucking with the electoral process, or just calling them off entirely.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

That implies Patel is not just an imbecile. I see little evidence for that.

They’ve been trying to lure “the left” into giving them a casus belli, and since the domestic strategy failed, they are now trying to radicalize foreign actors while leaving the door wide open for these newly minted enemies. It worked for Israel, so they’re trying it here. Venezuela, Cuba, Iran. They will keep going until a fish bites. They need to generate just enough outrage to justify a unilateral dictatorial coup before the midterms. An attack on US soil is the excuse they are fishing for.

False flag incoming

[–] evenglow@lemmy.world 70 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They were ousted for a simple reason: Each was involved in the investigation of President Donald Trump’s alleged retention of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

And like the CI-12 unit, several senior officials were ousted or reassigned because of their involvement in Trump-related investigations, sources say. The removals have cost the Justice Department and FBI decades of combined experience in identifying the types of threats that sources say could appear in the wake of Operation Epic Fury.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 43 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Totally normal, to fire all your good investigators because they were investigating the President's many crimes, and find you're left with no good investigators.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 19 points 1 day ago

That was their plan. Their whole goal is the destruction of the US.

This is what accepting "unknown unknowns" as justification for war 20+ years ago would always inevitably lead to...

Intentional ignorance of terrorist activities because any attack would be worth the justification to go to war.

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Come on in, we are open for terrorist strikes!

Top. Boys.

Sully? Dushane? Naw, the people MAGA brings are far less competent.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Oh his fucking eyebrow. Why not just hold up a sign saying "PUNCH ME"?

It'd be redundant and repetitive.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Less expensive than doing the false flag thing.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They will close one eye and a bomb will go off in NY.

Then, they will blame Mamdani. US is incredibly predictable.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 3 points 1 day ago

We did it with Pearl Harbor and probably the World Trade Center.

Should really make the eyes bigger so they aren't so life-like.

[–] Bieren@lemmy.today 16 points 1 day ago

Don’t need actual intelligence when the pedo regime just makes shit up based on protecting their pedo leader.

[–] doesit@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

They told him there were no threats.

[–] DarkSideOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (3 children)

What if something happpens in American soil? This is really dangerous. Do they want a reason for martial law or 9/11 unity? But on what cost?

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The Horst Wessel strategy failed, so now they are trying Israel’s 10/7 strategy. Leave the door open, aid the enemy, look the other way, and hope they inflict enough damage and horror to justify any manner of atrocity in response.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

The difference is that 9/11 was a surprise, this wouldn't be. This is the result of MAGA incompetence, and if we get attacked as a result, MAGA will take the blame.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

At the cost of a few thousand American peasants' lives and one cancelled midterm election. It's a sacrifice Trump's prepared to make.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

Nobody is cancelling Midterms, unless some state wants to kiss Trump's ass that much. Abbot needs to be Senator, or he's out of a job, do you think he's going to cancel Texas elections? Do you think California or NY or Illinois is going to cancel their elections just because Trump said so?

The real problem is going to be forcing Trump, Johnson, and the rest of the MAGA government to accept the new Democratic majorities in the House and Senate. They'll flat-out refuse to accept the results of races they don't like.

[–] DarkSideOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

People need to start to write to representatives about this so they start to make this a big deal, before anything happens.

I hope nothing happens but it’s really scary how they are gutting counter terrorism. Scary stuff

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Writing to people is one option, but if the fucked-over of America could coordinate, they could reverse the country’s course in a weekend.

I doubt. Trump makes everything an emergency. Anything people do, will be a reason for emergency declaration and no midterms… just because.

Also I bet they will infiltrate the left and use the same style Gaza BS to convince people to not vote

I’m reasonably confident that’s precisely what their plan is, and they’ll use it as a justification to call off the elections or something similarly insane.

This admin has had enough with intelligence.

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

terrorism that ADL gets to label antisemitic gets the ADL platformed to tell us why Israel should rule the US and take all of its money. Similarly, 9/11 did not weaken the US empire or its militarized hatred potential, and in fact the hate got platformed to be essential to the US empire.

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Something still doesn't fully add up in all this. Krasnov is obviously still in the pocket of Putin, so what is Putin's game here with respect to Venezuela and Iran?

Do we even know Ayatollah is actually dead? What's going on with Maduro?

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)
  1. Grab all the Venezuelan oil first to protect the USA from rising oil prices at home, then
  2. fuck up the middle east, putting prices through the roof and disrupting oil supply to China and Europe, and
  3. wait for everyone to come begging for American and Russian oil?

Take this with a huge pinch of salt. I'm just playing along here. I don't know whether this is at all plausible.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Didn't the US oil companies say they have no desire to mess with oil in Venezuela?

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

They change their mind at $100/barrel. But more US production is also likely. EU again choosing the suicide pact.
