Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). trump deleted a post? on his own platform?

ok, that is news

[–] turtlesareneat@piefed.ca 115 points 6 days ago (4 children)

We saw what he'll do during the Obama ape post. Blame a few staffers, not by name. Then say he's not sorry and move on. I doubt the upset Christians will remember this or care in a week, two weeks.

[–] homes@piefed.world 23 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (4 children)

oh, I forgot about that-- ~~it was a long time ago.~~ edit: sorry, the past few months have felt like a decade!

still:

  • that was twitter (not even X yet), not his own platform
  • he was much more adroit then. he's much more old grandpa crazy now
    • he won't say he's sorry, he'll double-down, if he acknowledges it at all
      • if he goes the double-down route, which is possible because I don't think this Pope-fight bullshit is going away (yay!), who knows what downhill direction the diarrhea will run
  • this Pope-fight isn't just affecting Trump, now his "Christian" base is getting involved, and not on Trump's side

so, this is gonna be fun to watch

edit: 15:37 ET (UTC -05:00)

ok, so, it has been fun to watch! His response...

Trump gets McDonalds DoorDashed to White House and then takes Iran war questions with delivery person

so, he admits to posting it because he claims he thought he "looked like a doctor healing people" which either makes him seem to be the biggest liar ever or the most completely bonkers person ever, and, really, it's not an either/or situation anymore but a matter of "which is more the case" at this point.

more to come...

[–] Alabaster_Mango@lemmy.ca 19 points 6 days ago (1 children)

it was a long time ago

It happened again two months ago. Although based on your X comments I'm betting you missed it.

The insane thing is that he says he thought the image was of him as a doctor.

Article of him saying this stupid shit

Video of him saying this stupid shit

[–] FancyPantsFIRE@piefed.social 19 points 6 days ago

Your doctor doesn’t wear flowing robes and wield a holy light? Shit, maybe I need to find a new doctor.

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 18 points 6 days ago (1 children)

So... he's trying the put powerful direct sunlight into the body to cure covid? Is there a syringe of bleach in the back pocket of the tourniquet.

His administration shouldn’t be able to delete any post, right? Per record preservation.

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 33 points 6 days ago (1 children)
  1. Even the first time in office he'd rip stuff up, try and flush it down toilets, and even eat it. 2) There's a lot of stuff his administration shouldn't be able to do, so long as Rs are majority and Dems lack a spine it doesn't matter.

He might have deleted it, but we never will. We will remind MAGA of this forever.

[–] ductTapedWindow@lemmy.zip 11 points 5 days ago (4 children)

Your average maga will say he was hacked by Iran and write it off, then commit adultery in the church parking lot before being absolved by a priest who's getting his tally whacker sucked by a 9 year old boy in the confession booth. You have no idea who these people are

Now we gottem. Not with the pedophile war criminal stuff no one cares about, but when he pretended to be an imaginary guy.

[–] AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@piefed.social 40 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Breaking the law several times?

Kidnapping another country's president?

Deporting every single non-white person they find?

Bombing a school full of children?

That's all fine and well, but god forsake he touches our shitty imaginary friend, THERE we draw the line!!

MAGAts don't deserve a place in society.

[–] LadyButterfly@reddthat.com 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I don't find this funny, I find it terrifying. We know he's a narcissist but I'm wondering if ge sees himself as a deity. He did this cos he thought he'd get away with it. Does he think he inspires religious fervour?

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Narcissism often comes with an aspect of omnipotence, this idea that they must know all there is to know because the idea that something might be outside their sphere of knowledge would make them imperfect and since they believe they are perfect beyond reproach it would be impossible for it to be true. They really do believe they know everything and if you say otherwise it’s because you’re stupid and wrong.

All narcissists believe they are a deity in the sense their world view is what they believe to be omnipotent which is a trait only a deity could have.

I have been looking at r/conservative on and off over the years. The Jesus backlash is the first time where every single comment was calling Trump out for his bull shit.

Fuck it took a long time but maybe many of them finally see it.

[–] core@leminal.space 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Calling him out for this bullshit. His other bullshit they're still OK with.

Coward.

We all have the screenshots. This changes nothing. Here's the URL for posterity's sake:

https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116394884725149647

And to all MAGA Christians upset by his post: Give me a fucking break.

It wasn't the child rape and murder but the picture of your fairy tale that was over the line? Yeah right. He's been blasphemous since day one, and supporting him was a conscious choice by Christians. They can serve only God or Trump, and they chose Trump.

It doesn't matter what he deletes, it doesn't matter what they think about him now - they are blasphemers by their own religion.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 6 days ago (3 children)

The problem with shit like this is that all those Christians are absolutely going to vote Republican in November.

They would absolutely re-elect him if he ran again.

They would 100% believe him if he told them that he learned his lesson.

Let's start a game where we try to guess what AI shit this turd will post next. I'm betting on something with all NATO leaders crying for help with him as a savior or some shit.

[–] Saffire@sh.itjust.works 12 points 6 days ago

"Big, STRONG leaders. They came up to me, with TEARS in their eyes, begging me to help them with the straight of Hormuz..."

Yep, checks out.

[–] someonesmall@lemmy.ml 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Let's play another game. I post a headline and you have to guess if it is real or made up.

"How did they come up with that? It was me as a doctor..." - Trump

Dude spent like two minutes in college.

[–] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

He posted it on Easter for the eastern half of Christianity.

This wasn't an accident. He's just a fucking liar and too big a pussy to ever admit a mistake.

His bullshit excuse if "I was thinking about the red cross and healing people".

As if the AI/intern had mixed up the red cross with the cross of crucifiction and for some reason no one noticed that he appeared as Jesus healing the sick.

I just wanted someone in that press conference to shout "bullshit" really loud.

And let's say we believe him... What the fuck is he doing larping as a medical practitioner anyway? That's just straight disrespectful.

This will make him even more resentful of his dumb Christian base, which might lead to more hilarious crash outs like his rant against Tucker, Kelly, Owens, and Jones.

Kind of wondering if AI threw in that horned figure in the back as a subtle jab similar to other artist depictions of Trump lately.
