Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Lol, enjoy the upvote.

But that would be a trident, no?

[–] Davel23@fedia.io 28 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Then why isn't a four-tined fork called a quadent?

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 months ago

I think we've found the real solution to this problem.

[–] TranquilTurbulence@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago

Or a “frident”.

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 1 points 2 months ago

A giant three pronged fork is a trident

[–] Admetus@sopuli.xyz 17 points 2 months ago

A backscratcher

[–] SolacefromSilence@fedia.io 12 points 2 months ago

Septork of course!

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 months ago

That's a rake

A monstrosity

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 months ago

Annoying to use

I don't know but I want to burn its owner at the stake upside down so he has to scream through the drippings of his own rendered fat.

No, a three tined fork is a tiny trident

[–] mcqtom@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

We've been calling them that for decades. Where have you been?

Sheldon was right, it's a Trident.

[–] wewbull@feddit.uk 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So chop-sticks are "Oneks"

[–] queerlilhayseed@piefed.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That thing you use to poke at stuff on the grill is called a toque. A spear is a onek (pronounced "wunk")

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

Instructions unclear, I now have a grill poker stuck into my head and my head is still cold.

[–] doctorspike@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

What about a “thork”?

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Only if the fork can be called a fourk.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 2 months ago

it would be a rake if its more than 4.

[–] M137@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

A threk*

It's "fork" not "fourk", so removing a letter should be a rule.

[–] winkly@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

A fork in the streets…

[–] kugel7c@feddit.org 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Kommentarsektion... Eigentum... Bundesrepublik... usw.

[–] BananaPeal@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

We have two-pronged campfire sticks that we call twoks.

Fish (plural) should be fiish/feesh

[–] Hupf@feddit.org 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What about a school of fish?

[–] webp@mander.xyz 1 points 2 months ago

Fiish flock

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

The meese and moxen did not agree to that.
