Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Rules

  1. If you post images with text, endeavour to provide the alt-text

  2. If the image is a crosspost from an OP, Provide the source.

  3. Absolutely no right-wing jokes. This includes "Anarcho"-Capitalist concepts.

  4. Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

  5. No bigotry whatsoever. See instance rules.

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

This was painted by David Graeber.

I for one welcome the return of David Graeber’s zombie.

I have no idea who he is, I was just making a joke saying this was a weird viral marketing campaign. Have you read his books? If so were they good and what genre were they?

Not op, but very good, kinda economic/political theory books, he was probably most famous for "Bullshit Jobs" , but "Debt: The first 5000 years" also holds up especially well.

Ah, interesting... That completely changes how I interpreted the message. I thought it was just like "stop using social media for quick dopamine, read long form books" but it's like "stop using Twitter and learn how money actually works" type of message.

Not only that. He was an anarchist anthropologist who was very involved in the Occupy movement (he supposedly coined the "99 percent" phrase.

You can also read his stuff on the anarchist library

It's less "learn how money works" and more "learn different ways society has been organized, which will enable you to imagine ways in which you can change it for the better"

But yeah he was a great author, highly recommend

In addition to what the other comments said, he also coauthored a book about the development of modern western society called The Dawn of Everything. It’s about a ton of stuff but I’d say it primarily looks at social organization and freedom. I really highly recommend it.

Often I go more towards fiction for fun reading but I'll look into it.

Also Jason Pargin! He’s got a new book coming out soon called There Are No Giant Crabs in This Novel: A Novel of Giant Crabs.

Also, listen to Bigfeets.
