Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Hehehehe the video of him pumping his pool guys and then now claiming he doesn't know them is hilarious.

Watch them not get paid and this whole fiasco ends with yet another lawsuit, just like I said.

I don't remember it in the news at the time, but the reflecting pool had a major rebuild relatively recently, in 2010-2012. In-progress photo.

That is, it was extensively rebuilt during the Obama administration.

And now I wonder if that has something to do with the president's obsession. Painting over and taking credit for his predecessor's work. Seems too on-the-nose, really.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 15 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Seems too on-the-nose, really

Trump doesn't do subtlety. Hell, I doubt he can spell subtlety.

[–] massacre@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

Easy! He spells it suddeltea.

[–] lyrial@anarchist.nexus 8 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

We went from Dan Quayle being universally shamed and humiliated for misspelling "potato" via an incorrect flash card provided by a teacher to.... whatever the fuck this is.

[–] PolarKraken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 10 hours ago

Honorable mention for Howard Dean getting similar treatment and exiting the proverbial stage due to "making excited noise that sounded weird" lmao

From that to "grab em by the pussy, you can do anything" and the response being success is some wild shit.

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 124 points 1 day ago (3 children)

If anyone wrote a story about an awful fascist president who left behind a legacy of desecrated American landmarks, we'd be accused of a lack of subtlety. It's ridiculously on the nose.

I’m honestly shocked they haven’t put shit head’s shit head on Lincoln’s body yet.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 1 points 32 minutes ago

He wants to be on Rushmore

[–] TBi@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago

Notice how the The Onion is just bereft of content because this pedo just does and says crazier and crazier things everyday.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

There was a season of '24' where the President was the baddie and that guy was a better president than Trump.

Lex Luthor was a better President.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho was (will be?) a better president.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 3 points 31 minutes ago

Camacho wanted to make things better for the people.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 8 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

New York writer Fran Leibowitz put it this way.

"I ride the subway almost every day, and I've never seen anyone on the subway who wouldn't be a better president. The baby in a stroller? Better president. Homeless schizophrenic? Also a better president."

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 5 points 22 hours ago

"That turd in the corner? Better president, and smells better, to boot!"

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (2 children)

I think Gregory Itzen was nommed for an Emmy for that role.

What's even more fucked up is he was "convicted" but served out his "sentence" on a palatial ranch somewhere in pure comfort until his batty wife, whom he never gave a shit about, stabs him in the neck for being a criminal traitor

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 4 points 22 hours ago

If you go back to the Nixon pardon you'll see that even hard-core Nixon haters like Hunter Thompson were not seething over the President dodging jail.

The feeling was that humiliation was punishment enough.

Not this time.

How the fuck is this project facing "cost overruns" when it's just some guys spraying paint into concrete with a $100 million budget?

I know the real answer to this question, but still... Jesus christ

Because they're embezzling money. . . .

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 86 points 1 day ago (5 children)

the regime is so inept, they can't take on a no risk landscaping project without making a mess… and Americans thought "these are who I want in charge of my whole country" TWICE

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 39 points 1 day ago (6 children)

If it's any small consolation, a guy at work who always wore his MAGA hat finally stopped lately. I won't forget he voted for the man three times but at least even some of his most diehard supporters are starting to abandon him. It still won't make a difference now though, he's gonna try to make himself dictator to avoid any responsibility for his crimes eventually.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 36 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

It makes no difference, that colleague will vote for Vance or Rubio or a putrid garbage bag left to rot in the sun as long as it hurts the people they hate... which is everyone that has made better life decision than themselves

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 23 hours ago

No doubt about that. Republicans will always be voted in, their propaganda game is strong and their supporters' minds are too weak to think twice about them.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 21 points 1 day ago (2 children)

No change in them though, he'll vote for Trump's successor or even Trump again if the Democrats run a candidate.

Rather red than dead

As they say.

[–] Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They can act ashamed of him now and then when November comes and he has a real opponent they're gonna say "well i couldn't vote for that other guy"

They all still truly believe Harris would have been worse.

Fwiw my idiot work MAGAt just digs in deeper every disaster. It’s all the essential freedom work of a true genius.

It’s insanity.

They're not inept, they're very deliberately embezzling as much money as they can.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 9 points 23 hours ago

If they were not inept, they would embezzle without it being so completely obvious

The sad thing here is that this is how America finally finds out there are no laws for the rich... yet they remain meek

Land of the free, home of the brave was a heck of a marketing scheme... as true as and I and AI

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So inept that they don't understand that the Reflecting Pool isn't a fucking swimming pool, it's a mirror and painting it ruins the effect.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago

Surprised it doesn’t already have golden, big-boobed mermaid fountains all over it.

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Now just imagine a regime that isn't so inept. That's how close we are to our democracy slipping away. That's why people should really vote no matter who against the class system, we can't afford another billionaire class stooge.

  1. The painting won't ever be completed.
  2. Nobody will get paid.
[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 1 points 9 hours ago

Oh trump will definitely get paid. He's happy to pay the bill when it isn't his money and the money is going to him.

[–] Fishnoodle@lemmy.world 105 points 1 day ago (9 children)
  1. The reflection pond will be permanently ruined

It'll get paid because the US government pays its bills (at least they did before now).

Trump's fine paying for things when it's not his money.

And at this point, he's just burning through all of our money, like it's his money.

Could have done it the easy way plus it would have been clean for 4 months.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.cafe 32 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It wasn't supposed to get done right, or get done at all. He doesn't care if it sits there, a broken mess in the middle of DC. He's a slumlord, he's doesn't even see that sort of stuff.

It was all just a standard kickback scheme. He gets his "pool guy" from Maralago to take the contract, keep a couple of mill for himself for his trouble, and the rest goes to Trump. The pool l guy will do some basic work, maybe even get it operating, but it will be shoddy work, with inferior products, every corner cut hard, no permits, no inspections, a couple of bribes, etc. He'll walk away with a bunch of money, and a nefarious secret he shares with the President, that he can call on when he needs it. .

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (2 children)

And if a Dem gets in in 2028, within the first month of taking office focks nooz will never shut up about how "the left can't even fix pools"

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.cafe 10 points 21 hours ago

Yeah, Citizens are going to have to get used to screaming "SHUT THE FUCK UP" at MAGAs. We don't owe them anything, no respect, no listening to what they want, etc. They are corrupt, treasonous pedophiles, and they have no say in ANYTHING that happens in America in the future. We have a civic responsibility to be as hostile toward them as possible for the rest of their lives.

[–] InputZero@lemmy.world 4 points 21 hours ago

The worst thing is the average voter will believe this and vote in a Republican next time. Rinse and repeat.

[–] content_educator_94@thelemmy.club 11 points 21 hours ago

Can someone just shoot this guy in the fucking head already?

I would do it but I don't know if I have the gun skills and I have a one and a half year old son who I don't want to grow up without a father

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is there something in print? I get that Ms Psaki needs to read this super-slow for some of the audience, but I read way faster and I am dyin' when they all do the slow and measured reading.
