Mine are as follows:

  1. Getting chased by a Saint Mary statue that was made like a greek statue and 30 feet tall. She was stomping the hell out of the grounds.
  2. Getting chased by a chuckie doll.
  3. Watching a demon little girl eat a human bone like it was popeye's chicken fresh out the oil. She looked hungry. I was like just staring. O_O

Anyway what are yours?

I had one where I dreamed I was in my bedroom, and there was some bright shiny...thing?...on my floor. Like a glowing dot, too bright to make out any details. So I went over and picked it up; it was maybe the size of a marble. I could start to see through the light and make out a few details, but kept putting it closer and closer to my face to try and get a better view. Soon, it was clear that it was my bedroom, and when I had the thing almost right at my eyeballs, I realized my eyes were open and I was awake.

So I guess I was slowly opening my eyes, but dreaming "around" the tunnel vision? Super strange experience.

I can only think of two.

  1. Probably the scariest dream I ever had. Someone broke into my house trying to kill me. I ran into my bedroom and locked the door. They banged against the door until they smashed it open, and then I saw them run over and kill me over and over again while a voice said "You are not a normal human. You are a monster. You are the end of the world." Freaked me out for a while.

  2. My username here is from a dream I had a long time ago. I was in a movie theater watching a preview, and I don't remember anything about it except at the end, the title, "pruwyben", flashed across the screen in a shiny blue font. At the time it seemed like the funniest thing ever.

1.) Being a traditional French onion seller on his push bike whilst being chased by a ten foot prawn (shrimp) around the street I was born on.

2.) A recurring dream where I’m walking back from a shop and a vehicle goes past that beeps and waves and as I throw my hand up to wave back whatever I’m carrying flies out of my hand and hits another vehicle on the road, causing varying degrees of carnage.

3.) I received a finger transplant for a missing digit. I then got arrested for high-end gallery art theft. Turned out my finger donor had committed the crime. They re-amputated the finger and put it in a tiny jail cell. I visited regularly.

That last one is amazing.

  1. Switching consciousness with a creature from my dream and realizing I won't exist when the dream is over (because I thought I was the weid red rectangle creature). Creepiest one by far, and I was in front of my neighbor's house in the dream.

  2. Bumping into miniature Jupiter in an infinite space train, then getting haunted by black and white demon faces - which caused me to wake up very scared.

  3. Partially lucid dream where I flew on a carpet to Japan and then language-learning books started falling from the sky, and I ran to grab as many as I could. Also, it wasn't actually Japan, it was just weird grid-like suburbs with no houses, just concrete and small patches of grass. I don't remember what happened after grabbing a bunch of books.

Waking dreams/nightmares are the weirdest and worse, you think you've woken up from a nightmare and then more bad shit happens or the nightmare was real, and then you wake up again, but for real... or sometimes it keeps going for a few cycles. Like everything else about dreaming they have no idea why it happens but it can be terrifying.

Out of laziness but I think it will be entertaining, I will share 3 notes directly from my dream journal.

This is a random sample of hundreds. I knew I dreamed a lot as a boy, but the decision to keep a log blew my mind, because it wasn’t until then that I realized how many crazy dreams we have that unless written down, we don’t even know happened. Something about the amygdala, I read.

Aliens come in water via boat
Black faces scary
Infiltrated with shape short pill
Went to store as gommander
Jump and fly with ease
Flying over singing families
Found mic in store
Made it back for birthday party and big reveal
Startled matt and girl
Knew future of close vote matt nearly flipped

Mind warped slaves... Dance party rebellion
Big trouble
Drug behind bike
Kicked ass

Small group
Technicolor cave
Sarlac pit
Purple and red triangles cave
Very scary what’s at end
Brave and willing to check it out … later
Girl behind welcome desk

Friend arrives behind
Sweater back over
Taken to the room with others

Can be played with tradable paper or tortilla.
Tear and remove so there are two similar pieces.
Only use of the word mister is allowed to refer to other players.
It is a game of folding.
Each player takes turns adding a fold to mimic the target shape.

When I'm really exhausted I can't open my eyes in my dreams. It's weird and freaking me out every time..

What's sad is that i don't remember a lot of my dreams. I really like having dreams.

What makes a dream a bit weird for me is if it's prophetic in some way. E.g:

1.

I dreamed i was helping a friend re-enroll in university, then i walked outside of the building while he did it and saw a bunch of my high school friends hurriedly walking past in a public square as a group. I go to talk to them and they're almost all ignoring me, apart from one who takes the time to snidely insult/chastise me.

What i remember as being just a week later, in real life, i was forced to cut them all of, so i regard this as one of the biggest examples of a prophetic dream that i've had.

I guess a sceptic would say that the dream influenced my decision, or indicated i was already having my doubts about them or annoyed for some reason, but i personally wouldn't say the latter is true. And i only remembered the dream a short while after i did that and the realisation creeped me out.

That one gets weirder because after that point it became a very long dream where i wander out into the posh suburbs of my city, which are very leafy and forested, then get lost in their old-fashioned maze-like streets, til I come across a weird alleyway where there are ethereal beings who just want to have sex with me a lot. This bit of the dream didn't come true. Yet.

2. I kind of don't want to get into these ones because they're gory and scary, but it does answer the question.

I've been having dreams where i sit down to watch the latest marvel show but my brain makes up something fairly different to what actually occurs.

First time i remember this happening was my brain completely making up a plot for "secret invasion" where aliens were boarding a space station outside of earth, looking for some secret information they held there. Because they were going to steal it from the ship computers or interrogate people on board, the space station is set to be rapidly disassembled by nanobots. The same thing happens to the people on board but they're alive while it is happening to them and that's one of the most horrible things my brain has made me think up. Please note this doesn't resemble what actually happens in the show, which i also haven't actually watched.

[Spoilers] Latest time this happened was the night when/the night before the night when DD:BA season 2 released in my time zone. What i was watching in my dream revisited the death of Daniel Blake, but in this show it was Fisk who confronted him instead of Buck.

Fisk killed Daniel by breaking the bones of his limbs with his cane and then pulling his brokenbones out from his mangled legs. Was disgusted and depressed that they showed such gore on the show in my dream, and then the finale had fisk killing protestors in gruesome ways willy nilly, so i guess it was semi-prophetic.

I'm no good at recalling dreams so i will have had some much weirder ones. I think one reason i don't remember a lot is because they're scary, violent or involve fighting people.

  1. Lost in some neighborhood, walking home but never get there. Just keep going in circles or noticing it's the wrong direction.

  2. My actual child is mostly non-verbal, just 1 or 2 word sentences. In dream he comes up to me at home and in perfect English says "daddy, I want a muffin to eat". We go to kitchen to get a muffin and there's 3 like feral children just climbing over the kitchen and ripping stuff apart eating stuff generally just destroying everything. They all stop, look at me, then run out the door disappearing into the night.

  3. Walking around an office building. People keep stopping me and asking meaningless questions, how much sun lotion for meeting lamb shanks type of questions. I can't answer and just walk away repeatedly as some one walks up asking why do kittens smell rainbows on Thursday morning...

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I don't generally remember them very long. I heat a reoccurring dream as a kid/teen but that hasn't shown up for.... decades.

Last night I dreamed a mother cat and her three kittens appeared. Which is two more cats than we can handle so I was calling mother to get help on finding homes. As I was telling my dream husband to get calling places 7 (!!!) more kittens appeared, two of whom were inside a bucket of water. They were fine, it was shallow. They were just wet. And Bengal kittens. I woke up to the absurdity that anyone would dump Bengal kittens anywhere.

I used to have serialised dreams. They were set in a large city that was built in a gorge. It had industry and mines lower down, with a huge amount of pollution, but higher up where the air was cleaner, there were forests and swamps with terrifying (magical) creatures, so the only people living up there were poor. The rich people lived in the polluted zone with expensive air purifying systems.

Yeah...

I wake up in the desert, I am standing in the sun, but I have no shadow. I am the sun. I exit my body and turn my eye toward it, and I see that I am a child's drawing, a mere stick figure. And in my hand I hold the scepter of absolute power. In sudden horror I realize that my skin is not mine: I am wearing an living armor. I wake up.

[–] cattywampas@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Ever had a dream that felt like a week? Probably that kind.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

These all happened as a kid, but I still sometimes think about:

  1. Once dreamed I was riding a t-rex geared out in armor... through a McDonald's warehouse? 🤷‍♂️

  2. Used to have recurring dreams where I would jump off something like the top bunk of my bed or the top of the stairs and just fall through the earth for miles until ending up in a seemingly infinitely long, dimly lit, dirt hallway lined with prison doors. I never explored this place, as I would wake up as soon as I got a look down both directions the hallway ran.

  3. There isn't a 3rd.

Out of the dreams I can recall:

  1. One where "I" ended up basically investigating a building atop a hill with someone, ended up in a basement with mirrors all over the wall and white paint underneath. Had a bunch of white circular tables for children. Standard office white lights. Ended up getting spooked, ran out, and was being chased and stabbed by "myself", with a third person view of the stabbing.

  2. At the old elementary school I attended, someone that looks like the Hyperion CEO from Borderlands Robot Revolution DLC basically started a cult. "I" did my best to escape, only to get caught and brought to the gym. People were strapped to those flat ambulance rolling bed things. A statue that was like a mixture of the cow statue from the game 60 Parsecs and the Fullmetal Alchemist mangaka's cow with glasses drawings was used as some sort of brainwashing thing. It span and acted kinda like a nightlight, with dots of light spinning all over the walls, which looked like they came straight out of the game Quantum Conundrum ( specifically red walls without any dimension shifts ). Then next part of the dream is me in a desk in a room at the middle school I attended. Looked like part of the front office. Desks were in a circle and for whatever reason we had some sort of math homework. I think it pretty much ended there.

  3. This is the most recent dream I can really recall, specifically one major part of it. It was me relaxing in my room, on my bed, when my dad, with a full, rough to the touch, kinda beard came in. The lighting in the room was more of a light purple. He comes over and basically gets down and rubs his beard all over my stomach despite me telling him "no!" and trying, unsuccessfully, to stop him. Next thing I remember, I'm in a vehicle for a night drive somewhere with my mom driving and my brother in passenger seat. I was behind the drivers seat. We were in a tunnel with a similar purple light. Told them what happened and they told me maybe I should take some time away from my dad. That's all I can remember, but it stuck with me enough that I did try to avoid my dad a little the day after.

What makes the last dream so crazy is just how unlike my dad that is. I have no idea why I ever would dream something like that, but it has absolutely stuck with me over the past week or two.

  1. Traveled to Nevada by holding onto a kite.
  2. Got shot but didn't die or wake up. Caused a lucid dream where I allowed my opponent shoot me repeatedly.
  3. Repeated nightmares about this guy:

  1. For some reason, I dreamed this one entirely in Ocarina of Time assets. I found myself in a grotto, think one of the browner dirt textures in the game. It was an open space maybe 60 feet square, ceiling maybe 20 feet up, no visible exits. The middle of the room featured a stone pedestal probably 6 or 8 foot square, maybe a foot high, easily stepped up onto, near the front of which stood a thin man in a blue shirt or jacket holding his head at a strange angle, only his eyes were visible. Palette swap a redead into street clothes, basically. Near the rear of the pedestal stood a heavy wooden gantry, which dangled a noose a foot or two directly over the man's head. The man started trudging toward me, and the gantry moved and telescoped to keep the noose directly above him, making that tigtigtig noise the castle town drawbridge makes. He slowly chased me around the enclosure while I looked for a way out, and then my girlfriend woke me up, she noticed I was breathing heavy.

  2. I'm not in this dream. My perspective is like a nature documentary camera. I was watching these dragonfly-like creatures fly around, hunt, go about their lives. Some of them were sentient, they could think in language, others couldn't, they were just animals that ran on instinct. Apparently their conscious mind existed in a piece of brain that was kind of exposed on the backs of their heads. The ones that could think, I could hear their thoughts. One of them got hit there and it kind of concussed it in a way that made it unable to fly, the damaged thinking brain was like, shorting out the animal. And I heard it thinking things like "Oh well, I guess it's been a good run. Nothing lasts forever I suppose. Not like I have much of a choice now. I wonder" as it was reaching one of its limbs behind its head, its claw snipped, the little bit of exposed brain fell away, and it flew away, silent. It cut its mind off to survive.

  3. This was the first time I experienced a lucid dream. My family was having one of the once every few years gatherings on my grandparents' deck we'd do, I started to say something, and my grandmother's dog Ginger started barking at me. Ginger was this hideous little creature with an annoying bark, and I would often be sarcastic back to the dog. Ginger started barking, and I said "Ginger you shouldn't bark at me, because..." mid sentence I vividly remembered taking that dog to the vet to be put down for cancer. "Because you're dead...and dead dogs don't bark. Huh, I'm dreaming." All of the people vanished, I started walking around the yard and the world just faded to this dark teal color and I woke up.
