Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.
  8. All Lemmy.World Terms of Service apply.

"“I’m very disappointed. I wanted it to be a special thing for her, and we had expected that it would have the integrity of the president of the United States,” Tim, who lives in Providence, Rhode Island, told NBC 6." I'm not sure why he's so disappointed, as this is at the level of integrity one apparently can readily expect from #47.

Wow the guy who ran a fraudulent university, bankrupted casinos, defrauded a cancer charity, rapes children, and sells signed bibles ripped me off!!!!

Good, you deserve it. Fucking moron.

[–] homes@piefed.world 49 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Don’t forget, he’s also the guy that buried his ~~second~~ ex-wife on his own golf course just so he could continue to cheat on her.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 27 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Just for accuracy.

Ivana was his first wife. Marla Maples was his second wife.

[–] homes@piefed.world 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Damn, I can’t believe I got that mixed up. Thanks!

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 14 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

The analogy I've been using is that trying to keep up with all the Trump scandals is like watching Avengers Endgame while reading Lord of the Rings and Listening to Game of Thrones at the same time.

Enjoy your day!

we had expected that it would have the integrity of the president of the United States

I don't understand. that's exactly what they got

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

If we didn’t have ethics or morals we could make a shit-ton of money.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

I would be more than willing to set aside my ethics and morals to cash in on these fools, I just haven't had a good enough idea yet. Seriously, all the good ones are taken. Trump flip flops, done. Trump guns? Obviously beat to death. Playing cards? Nope. What's left?

Imagine buying a piece of Biden merch -that says "BIDEN" in big letters on it- for someone that you supposedly love. What the fuck level of cult shit is this? These people are insane.

[–] JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz 32 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)
[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 3 weeks ago

Now that's some merch worth wearing

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

They found where the "T" went

[–] timbuck2themoon@sh.itjust.works 13 points 3 weeks ago

Certainly. There's a picture somewhere with a dumbass marine and his bride wearing a trump dress.

Trashy doesn't begin to describe.

[–] NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 weeks ago

Actually that’s not bad for a watch…

The most embarrassing part is actually wanting to wear something with Trump's name on it. That's just pathetic.

The watch blunder comes as the Trump Organization faces criticism over its long-delayed gold Trump Mobile phone, which is priced at $500.

Patrick Holland, managing editor of tech site CNET, who received the phone and spoke to CNN, said it was not made in America as promised, “looks nothing like the original image,” and also gets the number of stripes on the American flag wrong.

*snif*. That’s beautiful.

a fool and their money are soon parted

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 42 points 3 weeks ago

Slight change.

A fool and Trump's money are soon parted.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 45 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

A piece of shit sold by a piece of shit to gullible pieces of shit. Ha ha, let's point and laugh.

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Damn my sense of morals and ethics. I could be making bank selling cheap Ali Express watches to magats right now.

[–] BranBucket@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Back when the anti-5G hysteria was at it's peak, I wanted to sell cheap latex paint mixed with iron filings as a "high tech" coating that would prevent the 5G radiation from entering your home through the windows at the low, low price of $119 a gallon. (It also conveniently marked which houses the folks selling knives, magazines, and vacuums should visit.)

Sucks having a conscience sometimes.

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Keep it from entering your home? Or from entering your head... Uncle freedom's anti-5G head paint

I bet this would be one hell of a collectible. Limited run of bullshit paraphernalia with an obvious print error about an extremely controversial, transparently corrupt and serial lying felon with an enormous cult following.

Just think in 20-50+ years. People still go nuts about their nazi shit. The price of the watch is high enough that there won't be too many of these in circulation. Unless many of them have this print error, it's something anyway.

[–] LordMayor@piefed.social 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Some day, hopefully, a grandkid finds a trunk in his grandparents attic full of MAGA shit and has a crisis realizing that his grandparents are really shitty people.

"i uspected it to have the same integrity like the president?"

Congratulations buddy... I actually have some AMAZING news for you.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 19 points 3 weeks ago (11 children)

This whole thing is grotesquely fascinating, but my biggest question is this: did the husband even glance at the watch before giving it to his wife, or did he just hand her the package it was mailed in?

I know that if I gave someone a $650 gift, I’d look it over carefully to make sure it was in good condition, but that’s just me.

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You're asking for reason, forethought and enough self confidence to not want to be the focus of a ridiculous scam... from someone that just enthusiastically spent $700 USD on a "limited edition" made in China, imitation brass trump watch?

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Or he gave it to her still in the box, since unboxing is part of the experience of getting something new.

Honestly, if I bought something as a present for someone else, that's exactly what I'd do, let them open the box.

Why? If you can't trust the president anymore, where does that get us?

“I think that someone needs to be aware of it in their licensing department that someone’s dropped the ball big time,” Tim Petit said.

These people are so pathetically stupid. This is working just as intended.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I have a hard time sympathizing because, ya know, she bought a Trump watch. As a present. For her husband.

But I sympathize inasmuch as this lovely couple is mentally unfit rather than convinced MAGA cult members.

I don't see what the problem is. Rump is totally accurate.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 12 points 3 weeks ago

This is what you wanted and what you voted for, "lady". Wear your stupidity proudly like you were before you noticed a misspelling within your second grade reading level.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 12 points 3 weeks ago

"Show the world what an ass you are by wearing our plastic RUMP watch."

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 3 weeks ago

As a lover of butts, this is the final straw.

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 3 weeks ago

She and her husband should go play in traffic

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago
[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

Its exactly the quality one should expect.

[–] meejle@piefed.world 8 points 3 weeks ago

Probably still the longest thing they've ever read

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

I get the feeling Jon Oliver is going to be buying that watch from her within a few weeks.
