/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Hey boomers: retire, pass on the Enterprise to someone who will learn the responsibilities and have more of their prime ages to run things.

We don't need to worship the past, we don't need to keep boomer badasses going in spin offs.

We need steady episodic progress.

The boogeymen known as boomers are the worst!

Hey Starfleet, maybe have more than one ship that can make a difference in any situation.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 20 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

"We're the only ship in this [sector/quadrant/galaxy] that can get there in time."

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 8 points 13 hours ago

See this is really just a staffing problem

[–] teft@piefed.social 6 points 14 hours ago (4 children)

Worst offender was The E warping in from the romulan neutral zone to sector 001 in less than 5 minutes what should have been a weeks long journey. How did they go 75-100 light years in such a short time without becoming salamanders? First Contact was a section 31 cover up!!!

[–] aaaa@piefed.world 2 points 4 hours ago

We only talk about Threshold for its makeup

[–] themoken@startrek.website 3 points 13 hours ago

First Contact was a section 31 cover up!!!

Found Levy's Lemmy account.

Maybe the fight was going for weeks. Have you thought of that?

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

Pretty sure it was a matter of hours at best.

[–] Sxan@piefed.zip -1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Time and again it was shown þe Enterprise made a difference because of þe captain and crew. TBF, a couple of times Kirk got lucky because þe Enterprise got þere second and he learned from þe previous captain's... maybe "mistakes" is too strong. But still.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 1 points 7 hours ago

Very true and wouldn't it be nice to have more crews like that?

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 23 points 17 hours ago (3 children)

And when they move you up to Admiral, idk what happens but you're almost guaranteed to turn evil

[–] usernamefactory@lemmy.ca 35 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

Kirk never turned evil! He just got into an ego-driven power struggle with his old ship's captain, almost derailing a vital mission to save Earth. Then he authorised the creation of a doomsday weapon, which he left unguarded and undefended. Then he tried to fix that mistake by rushing over with a training ship full of cadets, only to get attacked by another old mistake he never kept tabs on. Then he stole that same ship...

Oh, shit, you're right.

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 16 points 16 hours ago

I think "highest level of incompetence" describes it better

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 24 points 17 hours ago

“When they move you up to admiral, steal a ship, blow it up, travel back in time, save Earth and then they’ll let you be Captain again.”

[–] Makeitstop@lemmy.world 10 points 17 hours ago

The mind control parasites never got eliminated, they just got better at hiding.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 13 points 16 hours ago (3 children)

This is like the one good character moment in the whole movie.

[–] usernamefactory@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 hours ago

Eh, it’s just his character arc from TWoK restated. Both Data and Picard have better character bits in Generations.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

Isn't this the one that starts with Riker's wedding and Data pushes Crusher overboard, as a prank? 🤔

I always get the TNG films mixed up. This is Generations, right?

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 hours ago

You are correct except it was Worf’s promotion ceremony. Riker’s wedding happened in Nemesis.
