Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:

- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. - Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

Alternate Title: Goebbels and Grese cancel vacation plans to Nuremburg
Best case scenario it splits the republican voter base up a little bit. They have enough clout in their own circles to actually make a dent. I think one of the biggest reasons republicans won is because they are so unified in their hatred at the moment. Meanwhile, democrats are constantly divided on everything and can't even agree with most of their voter base on a single topic. They're all still garbage people, but I'd like to see them punch each other for once instead of always punching down.
Yeah. I hope they peel something like 5-10% or more of the cons away to whatever they do, diminish those voting Republican, and ensure Democratic victories.
The problem is the Left can't seem to agree on anything, can't seem to pass each other's purity tests, can't stomach voting for a candidate who isn't "Left enough"
Meanwhile the Right universally wants to own the libs, and they don't give a fucking fuck what happens, so long as it makes the libruls angry.
What's the old saying? Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line? It's too fucking true.
Well if we look at political affiliation as a 2 dimensional spectrum
Republicans are way out to the right, while democrats are fighting for a much more varried voterbase. It's no wonder the democratic party can't agree on anything, because their voterbase is everything from communist, anarchist, socialist, social democrats, liberals, classical conservatives.
You are never going to get those people to agree on a lot of things, and it's by design. The republicans want it this way, because it splits the left, while the right mostly cares about murdering people who are different from themselves.
Maybe the right will suddenly be for ranked-choice-like voting. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be a neat side effect.
Really feels like we just need one popular leftist to brand themselves as the freedom party or some stupid name like that and convince all the dumbasses to support tons of popular shit they already want and need to fix things. They'd just need to not say anything about what they believe on things not related to policy.
I'm not holding my breath either though
I wish I could favorite one of my own comments, and instantly link to it.
I have had an analogy that I'm sick of typing, over and over and over. I came up with it in 2020 to teach people why the democrats don't make actual progress.
And now, here, you've essentially summerized my analogy without even having read it. I wish I could just press 2 buttons and show you. But it's like 5 paragraphs long. And I just typed it up again about a week ago when that algae thing went down.
I don't know if it's possible to search a users comment history by keyword, but I'd search mine for "paint, republicans, democrats, home depot" that should do it.
It is possible, but when I did it just now your only mentions of "home depot" that came up were actually about the store, not an analogy.
You can "save" or "star" your own comments, BTW, which could make it easier to find if you keep the list short.
Really? It didn't bring up a long message about throwing green paint on the white house lawn?
I can't imagine when else I'd have talked about home depot....
You can take a look yourself:
Also, other than your comment just now, the only other instance of "green paint" was this one (fake?) quoting Bob Ross.
This is gonna be a "we are starting the Make America Even Greater Again party and here are our hats", isn't it ?
So something that happens a lot in history is there is this yoyo effect of extremism.
Once one extremist is in power who inevitably fucks everyone, the people want an extremist on the other side.
Unfortunately it's usually the exact same kind of person. The people think it will be different but it won't.
Example. The French revolution begot Napoleon.
Lenin and subsequently Vyacheslav Molotov begot Joseph Stalin and now Putin.
It doesn't always go bad like those two examples. But it's a product of how angry people get and how they want an extremist to punish the people who are responsible for disaster.
I myself feel like I want this.
I want the next president to hold so many people accountable.
What kind of person would that be ?
It's a slippery slope. We could get a self righteous narcissist or someone who just wants justice.
It might be hard to tell which way someone is. (I'm sure I would know but I mean for the masses. Remember, many votes for Trump in the first place though I do believe there was election tampering tbh). Still.
I think Tucker and mtg are the bad versions. And I worry that they might win over people for their vocal opposition and promises of accountability.
It would be their best chance of moving up ranks to make that stance.
Well, before the NYT and WaPo start leading the charge to rehabilitate their public images, it's important to remember they're both still white supremacists who want a christofascist state. They're just pissed off that Trump is doing what other people tell him to do instead of them.
Mostly they're just pissed that they're on the outside looking in. They want to be on the inside.
Trolls
No, they are just attention whores and no one in their right mind would want to vote for them?
Irrelevant people grasping at straws to try to stay relevant.
Let's hope.
Let's hope they are relevant enough to peel a good chunk off and things start divvying up further from here. For "both" parties.
Just barely, though
Still traitors to this nation.
Announcement of the "patriot" "nationalist" or something of the sort party when. Then the when it folds the republicans can adapt its platform for the most part and democrats adapt the current republican platform seems to be the way we are going.
seems to be the way we are going.
Then you're not paying attention...
