Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

At this point I'm thinking they are actively trying to encourage an armed uprising so they can beat it down and seize control of the nation forever- I feel like they are shocked at how much we let them get away with and that they didn't think the populace would put up with so much.

He truly is absolutely fucking evil. Proves it again every single day.

[–] taco@anarchist.nexus 9 points 13 hours ago

Just the ones paying attention.

[–] Carmakazi@piefed.social 90 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

It was said that during the Iran "operations" the only thing that really held his attention during briefings was footage of people being killed with airstrikes and such.

He is viscerally enamored with ordering the killings of his enemies.

Holden Bloodfeast

[–] 0ndead@infosec.pub 57 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

The terror is the reason. They don’t want us voting in November.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 12 points 11 hours ago

It's only going to get worse

[–] ShredderFeeder@shredderfood.net 37 points 15 hours ago (5 children)

He's trying to spark protests...That's the whole point of ICE. To piss americans off to the point that they rise up so he can declare "an insurrection" and suspend elections or whatever other bullshit he's planning...

it's literally the game plan, and like idiots, we're going to play right into it.

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 54 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (3 children)

Not everything is a false flag operation.

We cannot allow violence, human rights abuses, and the erosion of out rights & laws for fear that what is already happening might continue to happen.

We must take action to stop these abuses. We can disagree on which actions to take, but any action against fascism is better then none.

[–] ragepaw@lemmy.ca 44 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Not everything is a false flag operation.

Thank you for saying that. Occam's razor. What's more likely.

A) He's a master manipulator that constructed a timeline of failure 70 years long for the sole purpose of destabilizing the US in order to declare himself emperor

B) He's a pudding brained idiot, who is desperate to hold onto any shred of power he can to avoid going to jail for kid fucking.

[–] Bob_Robertson_IX@discuss.tchncs.de 26 points 14 hours ago (4 children)

C) He's a tool being used by political operatives who are feeding him a narrative to manipulate his actions.

He doesn't give a shit about immigration, elections, Iranian nuclear weapons, etc... he only cares about getting more money, and Stephen Miller is using that to advance his own agenda, which he has sold to trump as a way to get even richer.

[–] obviouspornalt@fedinsfw.app 1 points 4 hours ago

he gives a shit about immigration in so far as he genuinely hates brown and black people. he doesn't care about white people immigrating.

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 10 points 12 hours ago

I'd like to add blackmail to that. He's all over the Epstein files, clearly someone has a video of him fucking a chil.

[–] ragepaw@lemmy.ca 13 points 14 hours ago

TBH, I think that falls under B, because if he didn't have mashed potatoes for brains, he wouldn't be so easily manipulated.

[–] homes@piefed.world -2 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Not everything as a conspiracy

You're right, it's not a conspiracy. A conspiracy is a secret plan... Project 2025 was not a secret plan.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 3 points 12 hours ago

While true, it doesn't apply in this case. Trump has always been a political puppet. They used Reagan the same way.

[–] blackbelt352@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

It doesnt take a brilliant tactician to use abuse baiting to provoke a retaliation from the abused to justify ramping up violence against the abused. Even the most pudding brained inbred moron can do that.

[–] blackbelt352@lemmy.world 12 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

That's not what a false flag operation is.

What Trump is doing is narcissistic abuse baiting. Keep abusing and harassing until the abused cant take it any more and snaps, reacting violently, and then claiming that the abuser is actually the victim. They're baiting for the manufactured consent to crack down and take hostile control.

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 3 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (1 children)

In the meantime, as they murder people, abduct people, utilize for-profit concentration camps in which most were not convicted of a crime, and further remove the rights we are supposed to have.

What should be done in the meantime? Are you proposing nothing be done? Because if any action is taken against them, then they would be justified to do what they are already doing?

[–] blackbelt352@lemmy.world 7 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Do everything you can to help the people affected by the policies that isn't direct violent confrontation. Direct confrontation will be used as an excuse to crack down harder. Warn others of ICE presence, help people get out of an area quickly and safely, defend people being attacked, record the interactions, never be the aggressor against ICE. Its tragic but Alex Pretti and Nicole Goode have become rallying symbols and examples of the awful behavior of ICE. Yes there is a dedicated online effort to smear them, and there are still people countering the messaging. If you find that you're in a position where simple sabotage is possible, do it.

Make peace with the fact that helping others is a dangerous proposition, and only you can decide what you are capable of doing and how much you're willing to risk.

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 4 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Thank you. This is a much more appropriate response.

Advocate for action and self defense against fascism.

Uderstand, you may have allies that have different methodologies, but you are still allies.

If helping others is dangerous, then it is better to live in constant danger than to live peacefully.

[–] ShredderFeeder@shredderfood.net 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I'm pretty sure this is actually in project2025...

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 3 points 10 hours ago

I'm pretty sure we should defend our country from the machinations of fascist christian white nationalists like the Heritage Foundation at all cost. Not just play dead and hope they get bored.

[–] chahn.chris@piefed.social 6 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

He literally can’t suspend elections.

The physics of the situation don’t support it.

The laws are against him, the size of the country is against him, the total manpower available to enforce a suspension is against him.

The US held state run elections during the literal civil war.

We aren’t in a civil war. He will try everything he can to manipulate elections but cancelling them is utterly impossible.

[–] sportsjorts@lemmy.zip 8 points 10 hours ago

One thing I’ve learned since 2016 is that no amount of evil bullshit in the U.S. is impossible. We don’t have laws. We barely have a judicial system in fact I would say it’s basically defunct too.

[–] silentjohn@lemmy.ml 28 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

we’re going to play right into it.

The alternative is to ... what? Just let ICE murder and kidnap our neighbors?

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 14 hours ago

and like idiots, we're going to play right into it.

As a queer person in Minneapolis, my only option is to stand up and confront these fascists. Acting may lead to my death, but not acting guarantees lifelong oppression. Not just for me, but my friends, family, and neighbors.

If protesting leads to increased violence and oppression against us, the answer is not to shrink and hide, but to resist harder. I will not be surprised when a person or people kill ICE agents at a raid.

[–] skvlp@lemmy.wtf 5 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

My impression is that there were much bigger protests during his fist term. ICE has shown the public that protesters are being killed. My guess is that that’s the point.

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 6 points 11 hours ago

There have been much bigger distributed protests in the USA since the start of Trump's second term, including the biggest in US history. You just have to count protests happening on the same day, for the same reasons, with the same goals in different cities.

[–] ShredderFeeder@shredderfood.net 1 points 10 hours ago

Bigger protests yes...more violent, no.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

Last guy was Colombian national. Would be a shame if the cartels enacted revenge.

[–] notsure@fedia.io 6 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

The executive is out of control...congress should do something...maybe the judiciary?..ok, so what's left after the other 3 boxes?

Sit back and hope a financial crisis will break it. I'm not sure what it will take for the national debt to become a focus vs a background problem. I can non-comply on a personal level, but maybe easier said than done. I feel like most people are not happy so that gives me some hope.
