Better advice for tourists: Avoid the USA.

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 11 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

I assume this is trying to do a racism.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

That was my assumption but they also included all of South Brooklyn so idk what to tell you. I couldn't tell you what they're filtering for

[–] toxicbubble@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

tbf South Brooklyn is mostly non-black (but still very mixed) communities

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

I took it to mean they have sub par pizzas there.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

Nah quality is pretty evenly distributed throughout the area. Joe & John's is squarely in the red section for example. Honestly, midtown Manhattan is mainly chains and bougie shit that barely resembles NYC style

[–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

NJ Pizza > NY Pizza. I'll die on that hill.

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 2 points 9 hours ago

I've lived in both but I don't remember anything distinctive about NJ pizza. The main thing about NY pizza for me is I can walk in, get a slice, and eat it on foot. Though I lived in the NJ suburbs, where "on foot" wasn't really a thing.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 10 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

What is the obvious reason they are referring to? I'm not from NY or America do I don't have a clue.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Hell I live in new york and I don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

it could be a litany of things.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Right? 🤷‍♂️🤌

[–] Siethron@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

All the Bodega cats in those areas are orange tabbies

[–] Trex202@lemmy.world 5 points 18 hours ago

If he's a local: tired of seeing tourists

If he's a tourists: bigot.

[–] Polyphilic@lemmy.ca 2 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Just paint the entire USA red, fuck it.

[–] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 1 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Lol the last USA elections kind of did that, init?

Edit. Fixed bad Autocorrect

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 9 points 21 hours ago

Telling tourists? That's like screaming into the void.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 73 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Better yet, avoid the entire country.

[–] SeventySeven@sh.itjust.works 11 points 23 hours ago

Me trying to avoid flock cameras be like

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 39 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I love when maga-pilled tell people to avoid major parts of the country.

Why?

  1. They're sensitive snowflakes who get butthurt if they see a LGBTQIA person
  2. Nobody wants them there anyways.
[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 3 points 12 hours ago

They're the type of people who claim the left are snowflakes but then blowup at something we probably all learned about around kindergarten age: the dreadrd pronouns.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 10 points 19 hours ago

They're the same type of suburbanites who think more than 3 black people in a half-mile radius constitutes gang activity

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You could see a black person in Brooklyn!!

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

How preposterous to see a black man running around free! My word, they should immediately be put to work and if they refuse hung! That's how we did it in the olden days and we should bring those back! /s

[–] godsammitdam@lemmy.zip 4 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

That's what Make America Great Again always meant to them. And maybe the Gilded Age part too.

MAGA just wants to be openly racist and anti-LGBT+ again.

[–] DecentM@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I like how it goes out into the water, like "even if you're a fish!"

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

There be gay fish in them there waterrrs.

[–] kboos1@lemmy.world 62 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I actually don't know why. Can someone fill me in?

[–] shweddy@lemmy.world 60 points 1 day ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (1 children)

Theyre being racist. Lower Manhattan and Williamsburg to coneyisland have been gentrified. There are still hold outs in china town selling cheap dumplings and wonton soup. And dupes for cheap

[–] Wrufieotnak@feddit.org 12 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

So what you're telling me is that the good, cheap food that tourists crave are in the red labeled areas? Understood!

After some thought, its New York, so cheap is probably relative.

[–] shweddy@lemmy.world 10 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

Yea. There's at least 3 night markets In Queens where you can fill up on $10. And in The heights and the Bronx you can find restaurants under the train tracks selling crazy portions for $15

If you go to the Bronx a common morning greeting is YOU GOOD?! Say it loud and look them up and down a bunch. They'll know youre from there

[–] ThrowawayPermanente@sh.itjust.works 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

This wouldn't get me shot, would it?

[–] shweddy@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago

I can't guarantee your safety

[–] AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)
[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 5 points 19 hours ago

You can tell they’re not from New York because they circled part of New Jersey.

Otherwise I’d say it might be from a New Yorker telling people to stick to the tourist areas.

[–] SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (6 children)

Really, everyone should stay away from all of New Jersey. Not because of anything racial, but because it's New Jersey

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 2 points 18 hours ago

Making fun of NJ is like "omg epic bacon" or saying "I'm so random". It's really passé and unoriginal. It's extra funny when the speaker is from, like, Mississippi or someplace that's actually bad.

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (3 children)

real New Yorkers live in NJ, work in NYC

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Pro tip: If you want a fight say this in any bar in the four boroughs.

Staten Island doesn’t count because it’s basically New Jersey.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 1 points 21 hours ago

Started island is more like Florida than New Jersey.

Jay and Silent Bob have entered the room ...

[–] plateee@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's the armpit of America!

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

If the armpit worries you, you should avoid Florida as well.

No airports for you

[–] Kenny2999@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Went to Newark once and a couple nice old ladies exiting a beautiful local church told me to get the fuck out.
